  1. I bought motion sensor LED strip from ebay . Yet to fit them but in theory should do the trick. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Battery-PIR-Motion-Acivated-Strip-Lights-Sensor-Wardrobe-Closet-Waterproof-A/184086416947?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=691784467142&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

  2. If you have a manual 1.33 with stop/start I Suspect you have a faulty/failing "Eco run convertor" its a power pack which maintains power supply when the car shuts off for stop/start and when faulty leaves circuits powered after the car is switched off, also sometimes the dash lights may flash after switching off. To fix you need a new "Eco run converter" part numbers: G92C0-52050 Eco run converter £98.16 + vat 90159-50385 x3 Bolt £0.95 ea +vat F1334-74020 x1 Bracket £12.02 +vat F1335-74020 x1 Bracket £6.42 +vat Fitting is simple enough the "converter" is bolted to the gearbox

  3. Just get your brush and use it to hold the boot lid up.

  4. Hi, The struts are a common part used across many industries , not just cars, so yours will not be Toyota redundant stock. Just like any other part, if its a good seller then you get cheapies flooding the market. Like you I took a punt on the cheapies and partially lost, If you see SGSs site mine and possibly yours are about £15 each, plus they show you how to fit them Easy enough to fit in 10 mins once you have done one. Would think its worth fitting your cheapies, they might be fine , if not - https://www.sgs-engineering.com/car-boot-tailgate/toyota/corolla

  5. Since every one is adding their internal (and why not external too?) modifications, I might as well add mine. 1. Glove box cover, easy. 2. Sound insulation on the floor pan, door sides, wheel well, engine bay and engine cover, xtra plastic wheel arches cover over the rear wheels (good effect). The car is really quiet! It is a difficult procedure, takes time. 3. cold air intake engine. I don't know if it makes a difference, more like snake oil! 4. Sony stereo 1-din with blue tooth and sony speakers 2 of them on the front doors and Hertz speakers 2 of them on the dash. 5. reverse parking sensors with distance monitor in meters (not just few beeps) 6. Extra driving lights, in phase with high beam. 7. Rear door opening internal coupe light activation switch. 8. Baggage room light, Philips LED light with movement and night sensor. Easier than the glove box cover fitment and very useful too. Runs on battery. Lasts more than a year. 9. Extensive rust proofing in all hollow rooms (door, frame, door sill, frame etc) and under body coating. Just had MOT inspection yesterday, the rust proof coat still looks good after 8 years. That was a difficult procedure. 10. New brake discs and pads on the front wheels a few years ago. I do my own service once a year, oil and filter, air filter change, AC filter change, inspection etc. This is one hell of a cheap car to maintain and gives you the economy and driving pleasure that no other car matches.

  6. My understanding is that Portbury is the Toyota UK entry port. You can view arrivals here:- https://www.vesselfinder.com/ports/PORTBURY-UNITED-KINGDOM-24200

  7. The diesel engine is not the best choice for mostly round the doors short trips, they like to have a few medium and long runs. Keep on top of the basic maintenance and they should be solid. Your basic maintenance would include a periodic clean of the EGR valve, potentially messy but not hard, or have your garage handle it. Check carefully for potential cylinder head problems before you buy, or see if the service records show that Toyota did the engine rebuild work.

  8. I think we are underestimating our daughters here. My daughter was at the dealer recently getting her 4 year old Hyundai serviced and managed to charm the garage guy to replace her half dead battery for free. And the service cost (oil, filter, inspection etc) was just 36 US dollars. I almost fell off my chair when I heard that and this is a large Hyundai dealer that we are talking about!! Daughters are smarter! That is my slogan now.😁

  9. Most of the cheap LED set-ups are pretty awful. Have a look at some of the reviews and pray your MOT tester is blind or DGAF. https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/blog/are-led-headlight-bulbs-the-brightest/

  10. You have to wonder how all the endless tests went - "I've banged my head" "Sorry sir, you got in wrong" "I don't have that on my current car" "It's progress" . B
