  2. I'm very impressed with the accelerationen in the 2.0. Get revs above 4000 rpm, and massive accelerationen kicks in. Below 4000 rpm, it has the feel of any standard petrol powered engine. I think you get a fake feel of powerfull accelerationen in the Hyundai. If 0-20 mph is instant with out delay, that snappy impression remains in the body, even if power fades and ends up beeing average.

  3. Modern alternators are ecu controlled so removing the ground/negative may cause other issues, the positive lead sometimes has a current sensor on it too In the words of James May - It's got plenty of fuel, It's just run out of electricity Stick a new battery on it, and drive it with no loads on, turn everything off

  4. I agree with you, I've always believed the same but dont know the mech science behind it, besides als68 stated...if the car does straight away...does that mean if it continues to run it means the alternator is fine...my question is how long will it continue to run before it stops and would this damage a good alternator ?

  5. In the past, it was not recommended that the alternator be disconnected whilst the engine was running, and I've always managed to avoid doing it. Unless alternator design has changed, or we were all being misled, I'd go for doing something with the battery, along the lines of Nick (Yossarian)'s suggestions

  6. Two easy options, go to your local car parts shop, and ask if they can check ur alternator out, (should be free check) 👌or run ur car and disconnect the negative lead on ur battery,, if ur car dies straight away, then it's a faulty alternator👍good luck

  7. Another cold snap, its more than likely the battery, alternators tend to go this weather as well due too increased load Electronics dont like low voltages, they tend to throw a fit

  8. Sounds like it could be the alternator that has failed. The 'water in fuel' light on these is often a red herring caused by low electrical system voltage due to a dead or dying alternator. That fits with the battery light coming on as it is a sign that the battery isn't charging, ie due to an alternator fault. To move the car in the meantime either take the battery off and charge it at home or swap the battery temporarily with a charged one from another car. It will very likely need a replacement alternator.

  9. Looked up Wood Company Italy Martin, and although not cheap the armrest looks like a great product. Thanks for your info, the purchase of the armrest is back on the agenda.

  10. OK here is quick how to on my method of converting CDs to flac files using a windows computer that has a CD reader and using foobar2000 both to extract and convert each track. First install foobar2000 downloaded from http://www.foobar2000.org/download. Put your CD in the drive and use open audio CD and play from the file menu. All the tracks will be loaded into a playlist but with no meaningful descriptions. Select all the tracks ( ctrl-A ) the right click the selected area and choose tagging - get tags from freedb. In most cases the CD will be recognised and all the useful fields will be populated with metadata. Now select all tracks again ( if necessary ) right click and select convert then … (ellipsis). In the right hand panel set each of the three options. flac as the output format and destination being the key ones. My advice would be to save the files on your computer before copying to a memory stick. Plan the folder structure carefully, for example if you start each track name with the track number as a prefix it is much easier to sort in track order later. You can specify keywords for this under the "convert each file to an individual track" option. For example %track%-%title% would name the third file 03-Stones in the Road.flac, and you could go a bit further and create a folder at the same time %artist%\%track%-%title% becomes Mary Chapin Carpenter\03-Stones in the Road.flac or try %artist%\%album%\%track%-%title%. Once you have a configuration for the converter click the back button and then use the save button and this will save a preset that you can use for the next CD. Hit the convert button and the tracks will be copied and converted at the best speed that your computer can manage. It is always possible that foobar2000 will need some extra components but if so just follow the instructions to download them from the recommended locations. (Try not to just google them as there are plenty of phoney download sites). This all might sound complicated but after you have done it a few times each CD only takes about 5 minutes.

  11. I used it all the time when driving. To look cool, I would recline nonchalantly, resting my left forearm on the rest and drape my right hand and wrist at 12 0'clock on the steering wheel.🤠 No I didn't or do!

  12. How can this be given a higher profile? Any change to the way this crime is prioritised would have to be a driven from the top downwards. Unless there is some embarrassment caused to the people who can change how this is policed, then nothing will happen. That's not going to be easy of course, judging from recent events. A law that is not enforced is of almost no point, and if it was enforceable in 2013 (it was effective then, wasn't it??), why not now? When one law is left unenforced, then all sorts of other laws are weakened. Anyone fancy starting a petition to get this type of theft policed properly??

  13. you would much better off copyng them onto a usb stick, tkes 5 mins on a laptop to convert them, and a usb stick can hold thousands of tracks
