  1. Toyota could also cut these thefts dramatically by just wiring the exhaust up to the traction battery on all of their hybrids. It could become quite irritating however to return to your car each morning and find the smouldering remains of yet another theiving ***** underneath it.

  2. This crime wave which is a big blight on hybrid ownership can be cut down dramatically if the police were to put up sting operation using cars as bait across the country to put these criminals away. Unfortunately so short of police numbers, doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

  4. This link in this thread worked just a few days ago, hopefully it still does. Look out for the January 22nd post from craggle.

  5. The more "bits" there are on your shopping list will mean more difficult to find. Just narrowing down to pearl white + T Spirit will be difficult enough, then finding a good one with all the other bits.....mmm! I'm with Quantum, dont bother with the satnav, its over £200 on a 2010 model to update, and the maps are said to be out of date by the time released for updating. Mobile phone with Waze is good, was in one last week and very impressed with Waze, worked around traffic hold ups at rush hour with ease.

  6. Yes, I think all new and face-lifted versions have V2 of Safety Sense and therefore the improved RSA.

  7. The public chargers with fixed cables are generally rapid chargers, usually capable of 50+ kW charging. Since the Prius PHV can only charge at a max of 3.3 kW, by using these you would be seen as a nuisance to BEV owners who have rapid charging ability. I wouldn't recommend it. It's available with ChaDeMo rapid charging as an optional extra, but in Japan only. The Gen 1 PHV can also use these chargers with an adaptor, but with the even slower charging rate you'd be even more of a nuisance. I only get about 8.5 miles (14 km) range indicated with mine right now in winter (average temps 5-7 degrees), but I suspect the all-season tyres are not helping.

  9. Would never use Halfords ever again after appalling service years ago. They replaced the fuel filter on a 2 litre auto with one the quarter of the size that was for a 1 litre manual because "the computer said so". Not even a Saturday mechanic would have fitted it - I didn't realise until I went on a long trip and found that 70 could not be maintained on motorway hills.

  10. Looks really good 🙂 Yes, I agree about the my19 and my20 confusion. I still don't know which one I have even though I saw it yesterday!! The person that showed me did not know what I was talking about when I asked. And when I mentioned AVAS they looked very blank. 😝 I'll have to wait until 1st March.

  11. Speedo programming is a higher level than Techstream and requires authorization unless you use an aftermarket tool you can calibrate the gauges in Techstream tho, but its buried in one of the menus

  12. Yes, second gen Auris is the same as the first one in terms of badges fitting, only differences are in the front one if there are built in sensors. Pretty much all toyotas models are very similar. Once you heat them up and try to remove gently, if there are any bolts holding it it will not move, but I am sure side one are just a plastic stickers. They are easy to break if you pull them fast and if the glue is not hot enough, just careful job but not difficult. Here is an example how to do front emblem, you can choose any vinyl you like, I did matte black to try to make it look as genuine as possible. Good luck

  14. I also am a victim of CAT theft right outside my house last August time, I was extremely impressed with the speed of the operation (NOT). Less impressed with the local police force who almost by return of complaint sent me a missive saying that due to insufficient evidence there was little they could do and so they were archiving the incident!!. This in spite of the fact that several other cars in the area were done at the same time and there was at least one witness as to the getaway car with a complete description, insufficient evidence indeed. However how to stop it,? well removing the cat in an urban environment requires speed and not drawing attention until getaway has to be a key requirement. Saws or angle grinding is a noisy operation so it's not something you would want to do twice. In my case the nuts on the manifold were removed, an electric nut driver would have those undone in zero time with little or no noise and then an angle grinder or saw was used to cut the pipe at the rear of the cat, this is noisy when I heard it I didn't recognise it for what it was and by the time I made my way to the door to look out and see who was doing what the only thing to be seen was the back of a car disappearing down the bottom of the road.which did not arouse any suspicions. When fitting the new exhaust it became apparent that a suitable size exhaust clamp can be fitted immediately behind the manifold nuts this will prevent access to the manifold nuts from underneath, yes the exhaust clamp can be removed but to do this means getting access from the front and side of the car. Hopefully faced with having to use the saw twice with the attendant noise might make them think twice and move on. Did toy with the idea of getting a length of 10mm HT steel rod welded on to the cat running over the rear pipe, they would have to cut through that before getting to the pipe, HT steel would give a saw serious problems and slow up a battery powered angle grinder considerably.. Anything that increases the time to remove and draws attention has to be good. Just a couple of thoughts.

  15. On balance I'd take a facelift Excel, mainly for the LED headlights. plus ride is more settled at low speeds on later cars. The fingerprint magnet piano black fully touch infotainment is a usability step back from the older unit though. Big fisher price buttons are the future!

  16. I have an Icon exactly the same colour that I've had for coming up to 2 years now and has been faultless. It's a very relaxing drive fuel consumption varies massively depending on usage. I've been up to Scotland from Sheffield and averaged just under 70mpg in the summer but my wife now uses it for her dog walking business and in hilly Sheffield in winter she's getting around 40mpg. The figures are accurate as I have kept a spreadsheet of mileage and fuel usage for years as she has her own business. (Better than my SLK which returns 22mpg!!!) There isn't a great deal I don't like about the car to be fair although the Icon is a bit basic but it was a good deal. Mileage on mine is 28,500 oh and Mr T's customer service is second to none if you have it serviced there. I'd make sure you get one with full service history or failing that at least the hybrid battery checks.

  17. Not sure if this will work or how long it will stay on the site but if you download the attached zip file, unzip it to a single folder, browse to the "rm11t4e folder and then double click "index2" you should get the Toyota manual for the iQ Craig. Toyota_iQ_manual.zip
