  1. Picked up mine today too. Impressed so far. Did roughly 80 mile trip (in 2 40 parts) and got just under 53 mpg. Nice and quiet inside and impressed with the amount of telemetry. The trip information on MyT is better than I expected. It has the AVAS. You can just about hear it at low speed with the radio off. Got stuck in a bit of a tailback and it was great rolling along using battery power. The dealer said that during the car preparation, they added supagard by mistake, so that is an added bonus 😊

  2. Took delivery of my new RAV4 this morning! After a 6 month wait all I can say is “it was very well worth the wait!” Took “the Beast” for a run of around 113. mixed road miles (A & B roads along with dual carriageways and through a couple of villages) and the mpg according to the onboard computer was 50.1mpg. I’m not complaining about that! The car is so far is certainly comparable with the Lexus NX300h Premium I part exed for. Most of the premium goodies on the Lexus are on the RAV4. I hope to give updates on regular intervals.

  4. Hi everyone, I am new here and thought I had to make an account and some uploads for my yaris! The back story, I needed a super cheap car for my job, I do allot of miles and was looking for anything cheap after my last car went to the scrapyard with electrical issues (it was a focus) my budget was only about £500 after lots of looking and test drives of some horrible cars I found my 2001 Yaris Sr 1.3 with 100k miles which I got for £560 If a car is cheap there is ALWAYS a reason, some it's rust, some it's dodgy clutches or engines, my wee yaris it was a hole in the exhaust you can put a finger in and the paint looks like it was cleaned with a brillo pad! I have had the car for 3 months and done just over 7k miles and I have fallen in love, so much fun to drive, so good on fuel and so so cheap, all I have done is change the oil! I would love to hear from anyone with tips on how to make thease engine last forever, if I keep going the way I am the car will do 30k miles this year and take a beating on rough country roads

  5. Hi all After nearly 60 years as a motorist I am enjoying my very first Toyota !! Bought new two years ago I have not been disappointed! The Prius PHV is undoubtedly a masterpiece of automotive and electronic engineering. Took some time for me to get into how wonderful the brain was as controlling the three major motivators that make this the most economic and ergonomic vehicle with a small running carbon footprint. Comfortable economic touring machine and my wife likes driving it too!! Here is Blanche at the Toyota Parallel Pomeroy Trophy event at DSilverstone recently - great fun despite Denis!!

  7. I use it every day, because in the UK Toyota crippled the specification and deleted the climate prep option which allows you to automatically pre-heat (or cool) the car when using a timed charge. They left it in the owner's manual of course, just to mock us. Maybe your European spec includes climate prep, in which case I imagine the key fob wouldn't be used a lot. I'm also interested to know whether you get the crippled headlights in Europe. In the UK, despite the false advertising in the brochure, when in auto mode the headlights don't steer around corners and the main beam doesn't go 'wide' at low speeds - it doesn't actually do anything at all until you reach 40mph. If you have a chance to test the car in the dark, perhaps you could let us know.

  8. If you log into your customer portal, and go to vehicle settings, you can increase the delay on your interior lights to 30 seconds. Mine must be at the default of 15 seconds, as that is what it is set at now, so I expect yours are too, unless you already did this?

  11. That means the servo is working. Repeated pedal presses with the engine off, depletes the vacuum to the servo. When you switch back on, the pedal will be higher. The actual force needed to stop the car should be very light. I have driven other cars, and most need more pressure on the pedal to slow/stop the car. Remember that if new brakes have been installed, it takes a little while for the sharp bite to come in, as the brakes bed in. If there is no air in the brake fluid, the brake pedal will be responsive and consistent. Any air will have a soft pedal and it will sink a bit!

  14. I probably have OCD when it comes to cleaning my car. Funnily though this is the only car i have ever owned thats had so much looking after. I do a deep clean as often as possible, typically once every two weeks depending on the weather. I use a varied range of Detailing products and a have a machine polisher. The wax i use is called Zymol Rouge specifically designed for solid red cars and costs £60.00 for a small tub. I will typically spend about 3 hours on a BASIC cleaning session.

  16. I think 'diy or £££bespoke' will be the way ahead, m8. As with all things 'period' (thinking of circuit racers in '60s with Magnesium wheels = today those wheels will be porous/brittle wall ornaments) you might find they have all disappeared into the great beyond.... Sad but Troo 😕 Getting a 'certified' top spec rollcage made [not at M8s R8s] will be 2nd mortgage territory.... Make your own with 50mm copper pipe and wrap with GorillaTape - daft, I know, but it's the look your after, really.... BOL 2sav

  17. The Toyota eCVT transmissions have more in common with a conventional differential than a normal gearbox. There are no brake bands, clutches or synchromesh rings. No gears engage or disengage in use. The transmission is often described as having a single ratio, but whilst I can see why it is described as such, this is a little confusing when no diagrams are available to explain how it actually works. It uses an epicyclic, or planetary, gear set to synchronise the engine, the electric motors (there are 2) and the vehicle speed. The 'reverse gear' function exclusively uses an electric motor to move the car. The 'box uses conventional Toyota gearbox oil. There is no maintenance requirement in normal use, and no adjustments. The eCVTs are very reliable, with the exception of occasional control electronics (inverter) failure on Prius gen3 transmissions (and their derivatives). From a mechanical point of view, I think wear (in this case some bearing whine) is only evident after 150,000 to 200,000 miles, if at all. That's my understanding of it , anyway.

  18. I notice that if I just focus on driving the best way I can (not worrying about how the MyT will judge me for acceleration) I get higher mpg and a higher score on the app. If I drive thinking I'll get told off for accelerating too quickly etc and try and drive in a way that the app will be happy about I get lower mpg. I would love to know the logic the app uses for acceleration based judgement...

  19. For the UK, the 1.2T was dropped for the 2020 range due to low sales - same for the C-HR. All Toyota hybrids are automatics - using e-CVT transmissions.

  23. Then you should be ok. Toyota make reliable cars, and the Yaris is one of the best. Your paintwork might benefit from a a wash and and waxing finished off with a polish protective. My old friend used to say that if your car is not worth a regular oil and filter change then take it to the scrap yard 😂. Sound advice 👍

  24. Here's this weeks episode for you all. I've got 8 more episodes to edit, which will bring me up until the second car I bought the other week. Then I will be filming all of the parts I take off of the second car, and put onto my main car, and then myself putting the parts back onto the new car, then sell the spare car, as it still has 6 months mot, and only 73,333 miles on it. Then I've a few more things planned, but I've kind of hit a brick wall. I've spoken with lots of companies about parts, and I won't name them as it's not their fault, but none seem to be able to help. These include various places i.e. most big brake companies, a few custom body work places about a new front end bumper, like used on the NZ Touring car. I've also spoken with a few wheel manufacturers about the type of wheels used back in the day, as well as a company that makes clones, and neither can help. I've spoken with a few roll cage centers that offer fabrication work, yet say they don't do anything for my car. Even things like seat manufacturers, anti roll bars, wishbones, etc etc pretty much 99% of them never get back to me.

  25. Anyone know why a word mentioned twice in my original post has been removed? It was a descriptive term for axle bounce and not a swear word. A-X-L-E T-R-A-M-P.
