  1. That CTEK MXS 5.0 is the one I have and it is a good charger. I use mine all the time and have not regretting getting it. I consider it an essential tool box item and wouldn't be without a charger, now.

  2. I've ordered one of these chargers after finding a lot of recommendations: www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-MXS-5-0-Reconditions-Motorcycle/dp/B00FC42HAA It seems more intelligent than other chargers and may give better results at reviving a dead battery. It has a mode specific for AGM batteries too.

  3. I have been on the lookout for a boot mat for the IQ that is for when you have the seats down, I did receive the official one with my car but I found that it was crap as it would never sit flat when you have both the seats down. Most places online only seem to sell a mat for when the seats are up, so I thought I would post on here that I had a mat made up by Premier Products that I would recommend, as they only start from £14 and you can get them in a ton of crazy colours if you want, I got it in black with a black trim and opted for the Luxury Carpet and it cost me £23.99 all in with shipping. It was shipped in a few days and the quality and workmanship is top-notch. Here is a link to the IQ seats down mat. TOYOTA IQ (WHEN REAR SEATS ARE DOWN) (2008-2015) TAILORED BOOT MAT

  4. Oil returns to the sump via the oil galleries, it never returns via the filter in any case so that is a myth.

  5. First two days with moore than 12 C degrees here at my place in Sweden. Nice to be able to drive our Prius PHEV 2015 in EV mode, quite direct from start, and to be able to avoid the ICE kicking in to heat/warm up the car.

  6. Wish there was an option to place money, or points, on some topics to see if the user ever comes back for his answer. Will he come back, or will this be another topic with 4 members giving good reply's, but member is nowhere to be found? Place your bets!

  7. If it's of any use, this is a copy of the owner's manual for the CTEK. I don't have one, I was just interested to see what it said. (I'm sure it's available on their website too, but anyway.)

  8. Yes, you can charge the battery without removing the terminals if you have a battery charger that prevents "feedback", according to the manual of my CTEK MXS 5.0 charger. I do it on my hybrid. Do not connect the negative lead from the charger to the negative battery pole, instead connect it to ground via the car body; I use a luggage tiedown loop in the boot. I'd have doubts abour a dedicated motorcycle charger being powerful enough to handle a car battery.

  9. No, not unless it's been left flat either once for a few days, or several times for shorter periods. If it's not been flattened, I'd check to see if it's covered by a warranty - some are, depends where you got it.

  10. Also, it could be trying to run one or more electric compressors for the brake hydraulics or other systems.

  11. Thinking about it.... Was it from Passionford??

  12. Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your situation. Agree, in the Covid-19 context, this matters little. Good to know about the financial agreements, too. Given all of this, I still have my current car (a 17-plate Ford Focus), decided to hang on to it once it became clear that the new Corolla would not be arriving any time soon. Mind you, I've hardly covered 50 miles in the past few weeks so maybe I don't need a car at all - I've walked and used my bike more! Current car's first MoT is due end April, although now extended for 6 months. That is very handy.

  13. According to US EPA tests (which reflect reflect real world driving better) and experience of others, the difference in fuel consumption is negligible and that extra 100 kg or so doesn't really make a difference. I've never noticed a difference in fuel consumption between driving on my own vs. with one passenger and luggage either (adult+suitcase would easily be 100 kg). And by 50 MPG I mean measured at the tank, because the trip computer will say slightly better ;)
