  1. 10k mile in 2 months, more than I do in a regular year. I probably change it twice a year for that mileage!

  2. No...dummy 🙂 Ape-man C370 theres an £8 off code. As for renting the hydraulic lift why? Unless u are good with the car mechanically to change stuff? I can only DIY the most basic stuff like filters, spark plugs; although I manage to changed an alternator for a Micra and a radiator on a corolla once 🙂

  3. Toyota service schedules have changed twice since the service & warranty book was published for your car. In 2016, they revamped the services and introduced the Full+ service which included longer term service items (eg spark plug change, coolant change, etc) as and when they were due. In 2019, they dropped the Full+ service and returned to charging for longer term service items in addition to the Full service. So if a Full service is now due as well as, for example, a spark plug change, customers will be offered the Full service and a separate charge for the spark plug change.

  4. These just arrived. Got the dash cam from Amazon for £22. Using it for the rear, got one for the front already which cost much more. The sticker to get tailgaters off my back 😎

  5. For me 4 years are too long to replace them. Only cost £16 for both to DIY so I will replace at 2 years interval for my relatively low mileage per annum. I don't take the car for dealer service. Get an oil and filter change each year at £45 from a local garage. Saved much cash doing this, without spending on dealer service price, recently spent 200 on 4 new tyres. When I have the facility/storage space to change the oil myself I shall invest in 4 axle stands and 1 hydraulic jack (got 1 already) to DIY change. Can work out under £15 per change.

  6. If the MOT is due between 30th March 2020 and 29th March 2021, it will automatically be extended by six months approx 7 days before the current expiry.. For example my sister's C1's MOT was due 23rd April 2020, and that was automatically extended to 23rd October 2020. The week the MOT is due, use the DVLA MOT checker to check it has been extended - https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status

  7. Quite right too....despite the current situation, commerce/industry has to start up again soon otherwise the economic damage could well be as severe as the virus. I guess there is a balance to be had and it won't come without risk...but we can't lockdown forever.

  9. I also have the 1.6 VVTI like yours, and the fuel tank capacity is 55L, you can see the cut out from the manual below, when i have the last bar blinking, the car takes around 42L to be full to the brim, but with prices here as low as 0.71 GBP per liter, thankfully it's not so expensive. The fuel gauge is far from good, and when filled to the top, i usually drive 60-80 miles before it drops 1 bar, and usually once it reaches half way mark, it tends to go down faster. As for the MPG, in hilly rural area, up and down, twisty roads, with 50-60 miles speed limit i get 47 MPG (AC makes no difference) In the city, with plenty of shorter trips 42 MPG. HIghway cruising, also 47 MPG, but i usually drive 60-ish, with cruise control. When full, mine also displays some 280 miles range, but keep in mind the reserve should be around 7 liters, so even when the range says full, there are no bars left, you should be able up to 60 miles.

  10. No you didn’t, the fault was entirely mine as I didn’t twig that they’d do an upper and a lower. I’ve return the ‘wrong’ one now and ordered an upper. It never occurred to me that they’d offer both options so I blindly went for the cheaper one; there was a reason it was cheaper as there’s not as much material used!

  11. Just felt like posting an update about fuel consumption. Very happy now, things have really improved with the range reading compared to before. It may be that the dealer had put less than 15 litres in when he brought the car to me, causing incorrect readings. Yesterday the low fuel light came on and only one fuel bar remained at the bottom of the display and was flashing. So I filled the car for the first time since I've had it. £1.03 a litre at Morrisons. I put £35 (34 litres) in which almost filled the car right up minus just one fuel bar. Range display reset itself and said I have 262 miles fuel. I've driven 45 miles since filling. Only one bar has disappeared and the range is now saying 225 miles. So I'm getting more mpg than the range says, whereas before I was getting much less than the range said. Average fuel consumption is reading 39.2 mpg. I reckon I'm going to be getting around 42mpg overall which is what I was hoping for.

  12. Here is the difference between old and new cabin filter, two months and 10k miles on uk motorways, a lots of carbon buildup and smells like fumes.

  16. Well, you had it inspected, so hopefully it is safe. When the dealer is open again, you could ask the service manager to sit with you on a test drive and point out to him the noises that are concerning you. And / or, have a test drive again in the dealer model, and see what the difference is.

  18. This graph nicely illustrates the influence of summer/winter/summer temperatures. My Rav4, brim to brim messured since new, august last year. In Mpg for your convenienice. It helps the car's economy somewhat that practically the whole country is flat, and we have a national speed limit of 100 Km/h. 😒

  19. Wikipedia to the resume again. What a wonderful source of knowledge Wikipedia is. I will need to read a few times to get a fuller insight of what goes on in this wonderful technology Toyota have developed and given to us in the form of fuel efficient vehicles, which are also a joy to drive.

  20. Sorry to hear that hope it didn't injure you too badly. If only Toyota made the jacking point closer to the ground!
