  1. They could be bold and limit the scheme to cars produced in this country?

  2. Noticed a new personal record /high score with our Prius Plug In 2015 (gen 1) yesterday. After my latest fill up and 1317 km (818.6 miles I think) driving since latest fill up (20-04-04) , my Fuelio app says 2.88 L/100km (98.8 UK mpg I think) comsumption.

  3. Thanks Hopefully this one will be able to be sorted as you can feel it through the steering on the motorway. I used to have a Yaris hybrid before. Despite the Yaris being supposedly a lower group car, I thought it was better built than the Auris.

  5. There's another automatic braking that occurs at very low speeds. It’s part of the SImple Intelligent Park Assist (‘SIPA’) system but also functions during manual parking. I’ve had it slam on the anchors whilst creeping towards my garage door when about a foot away. I guess that in this case your wife was unfortunate enough to be travelling too slow for the one system and too fast for the other.

  6. That`s really a joke. If they would open the source code for this excuse of an "entertainment system" i am sure that we would have a solution last year already... I am really curious how that ukrainian guy managed to flash the firmware to this unit. Anyone found an alternative headunit from a reputable manufacturer that will fit in our cars?

  7. Dropped Corolla off for a service today and service manager advised me that the carplay and Android auto had been pushed back to the Q4 What I do find strange is up to march they were going to upgrade the system in 2 months in may So they must have had all the equipment in place to do the upgrade. Now I can understand we have covid19 and the dealers have only just reopened. So why isn't the update 2 months from now in August for the update Maybe they are just wanting to do servicing and repairs to catch up with lost revenue whilst they were closed Looks like all corollas including the icon will now be getting the upgrade

  10. Over 91,000 miles, so nearly double the mileage. It is disappointing for you, but at least it's not a major job for the petrol engine. The Auris 1.6 is exactly the same. I think the diesel engine is more involved and needs the engine mount to be removed!

  13. I posted this topic a few years back. Perhaps this will be of use? The drained oil had some super-fine particulate in suspension, but as far as I could deduce, it wasn't ferrous - a very strong magnet didn't attract it at all after several weeks. I have kept some of the old transmission oil - if someone wants to offer a free oil analysis of it, that would be fascinating! The genuine Toyota WS-ATF is around £11 a litre from a Toyota dealer on eBay, probably similar from a dealer. It isn't much more expensive than generic ATF, so there is not much point not using the genuine fluid. The oil isn't hybrid-unique, it goes in most modern Toyota auto boxes. There are 2 identical aluminium drain plug washers, which are about £3 each. I think the photo makes the oil look a little more in need of a change than it was in the flesh. I have done another Auris hybrid (first change) at about 55,000 miles, it looked similar. Those hex/Allen bolts are very stiff to loosen initially! I would think about get a tool that goes onto a regular socket set, to save bloodied knuckles when it 'cracks' loose.

  14. If these spray cans are intended to be sprayed in the inlet manifold while the engine is running, doesn't that mean it's going to force all that crap through the engine? Maybe diesels are a bit more tolerant of doing things like that (being comparatively dirty engines anyway) but I'd be reluctant to do that on a petrol, especially as these engines have less than perfect piston rings as it is. Without disassembly and inspection you'll never know how effective any cleaning solution is. And as we know a blocked EGR system on these engines can lead to head gasket failure, I think it would be best to get it done properly - but no need to go to a main dealer, any competent mechanic should do. The EGR cooler gets clogged up on these, it's full of metal fins so I can't see any effective way of cleaning it out without removing and inspecting it (it needs a good soak or pressure washer AFAIK). You can remove the EGR pipe easily enough, looking at the state of that might give you a better idea of how clogged the rest of the system is. I suspect the issue is more common in the US as they use lower quality fuels (and lower octane), but I'm not sure.

  15. Yesterday I finished the job. It was easily done in less than an hour for both sides in total. I did not remove the hub etc., but tried to do it the alternative way. After removing the 3 screws (after 17 years they loosened quite easily) I cut the old plate with a hacksaw. After bending both ends I could remove them. Then with a 1mm grinding wheel I cut the new plates at the smallest section and bended both sides open to the front. Then it is possible to get them in position. Tighten them with the 3 screws and bend both sides back, apply some paint on the cutted positions and the job is done.
