  1. I have seen some reports of sill rust on the net, and sadly my 2008 Aygo is also suffering: Having never welded before, I recently bought a lidl special welder and have been practising with it in lockdown, with the help of the Mig Welding forum. Last weekend I decided to take the plunge and set about fixing the little bug. I ground back the area on the sill to establish the extent of the rot, and thankfully it was very localised. Marked out the area ready for cutting out: Rot cut out, and rust converter applied to the light surface rust inside the sill: Matching patch cut out of 0.8mm Zintec steel, and bent to shape: Patch fully seam welded right around using the "thin metal technique" https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/thin-metal.htm: Welds ground down and zinc primer applied: Filled, sanded and red primer applied: Top-coat applied, ready for compounding and polishing once the paint has hardened up a bit. The paint I used was by Hycote, and in my eyes was a 100% perfect colour match: I've got the other side to do as well in the next few weeks, and hope that it goes as well and turns out as good as this side has. Once that has been done, I have some Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 to go in both sills, to hopefully protect them for the forseeable.

  2. Unless the dealer is prepared, without cost to you, to restore the A/C system to full working order...Reject it.!...and find another Yaris and another dealer.

  3. My 2019 1.8 Hybrid Corolla is currently claiming 67 mpg. That's probably 64 mpg in measured pump to pump.

  4. But over what time period and distance? I average currently around 50ish and perhaps a little more from a 1.33L Auris (petrol) over two full fill-ups. So thats over say 800 miles daily usage. Those are real world calculated figures by the way, the display is showing 51.3 at the moment but has reached over 55 on longer gentle runs.

  8. if the hybrid system wasn't reliable you wouldn't have prius & auris hybrids being used as taxis as already said the technology is 20years old and over the years has been refined to where it is today,

  10. Mine was in for it's first service yesterday, I asked about getting this fitted, they confirmed Q4 this year when U asked about the cost they said in light of the delay I could take it in and have it fitted any time for £50, not only with a service.

  11. I have owned from 11-2009 an unleaded petrol-powered Toyota Yaris 1.33 cc - 101 hps - Sol plus, purchased from a Greek dealership in Athens, which throughout its warranty made the necessary service in time to authorized services. Due to the fact that it is my first car, I did not have the knowledge in the first years that I had to check the level of liquids and oil of the vehicle myself, between the services, so these checks were done only by the authorized technicians in each scheduled service. The seventh year , when the warranty of my car expired, it was the first time I had thought about something about the car and I had to visit an authorized workshop before the scheduled service, when the oil lamp on an uphill light came on and it was found that it had emptied almost all the oil. of the engine. Communicating with technicians in the authorized workshops, I realized that before the vehicle reached such a point of oil loss, it had started to lose oil earlier, but not to such an extent that I realized it earlier than the service, alone. After contacting several technicians at the authorized workshops, I concluded that the vehicle should have started to lose oil earlier, regardless of the fact that they did not write it in the notes of the service book, nor did they mention it to me. When I asked the dealerships how the problem should be handled, the answer was that the engine should be dismantled and repaired or, in the event of a major failure, replaced, which would cost more than 700 to 1,000 and more, according to estimates. plus euros. However, my engineers, if I had realized this before the warranty expired, I would have enjoyed the engine failure free of charge. More than four years have passed since then due to the business trips I make and the fact that I live in another city, I check almost every day and refill the engine oil and service many authorized and non-authorized Toyota garages, however The condition of the vehicle is deteriorating more and more, with the need to refill oils on each trip (at least 1 liter of oil 15-40, every 200-300 km). I have also damaged spark plugs, every few months. Now, the engine does not function normally and some times makes retargeting. Finally, car engineers agree that if I don't change the engine in my car, it will stop working completely. In all the workshops that monitor the car and I have talked to the craftsmen or the owners of the workshops, I find that I am not the only owner of Toyota Yaris of this period, which is facing such a serious problem, while they even mentioned that a large number of engines in Yaris and Auris of the same period nationwide, present this problem. Searching the internet, I found that the specific problem of the engines of this period also refers to a relevant Wikipedia entry (https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Yaris). On the contrary, in the same search, I did not find on the part of Toyota or the importer in Greece, that there is a recall of models and their repair for free, as happened in my vehicle for possible damage to the passenger airbag, where I received a letter three years ago. for free replacement of this airbag. I am writing this message to confirm whether the problem I am facing has been addressed by other Toyota owners and in case of yes, what solution they have chosen, if they have contacted the importer and what answer they have received.

  12. Oil burning on the 1.33L is a widely reported issue and seems to be a design fault. My Auris is a 2010 model and has seen 4 litres added in the last 2 months, mileage is only 67k. I agree that it is not a good situation.

  13. The claimed unintended acceleration issue on older models which dates back to 2009/10, was in the US. Despite extensive investigation by the NHSTA no fault was proven. In the US, Toyota did a recall to install mat clips in case the drivers mats had interfered with the accelerator pedal. There was also a worldwide recall on one of the two types of accelerator pedal (the assembly in question was manufactured by a company then owned by GM) to correct excess sideways movement of the pedal - a shim was installed. To retain customer confidence in their products, Toyota GB introduced the 5 year/100,000 miles new car warranty from 1st June 2010, which we still have today.

  14. ....... Pay considerably more and enjoy 'keep fit' windows. Seriously, is there demand? 90's JapCrappers are SO SCENE but not these, one might surmise. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-Toyota-Carina-Saloon-XL-1-6-petrol-1-owner-63k-Timewarp-Condition/114230309418?pageci=fc617b15-8f95-41a5-ac4c-76ea4ea2c1f3 2sav

  15. Thankfully, no. I think the dealer is still hopeful that the demand will still be fairly high once 'normality' resumes.
