  1. Checked my Auris Hybrid 2015 on the DVLA recall check web page today, 8 July , and it's due a safety recall. Phoned my local Toyota dealer and they have confirmed this, but the Recall has just been announced and there are no details as to what the recall is about. The dealer says to wait and they will be in touch. No panic, I just thought I would let everyone know. Here's the link if you want to check your own car: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ It says MOT check, but if you scroll down the page, your find the Recall check button.

  2. Hi Tony, thanks for adding to this discussion. Today I experimented with dialling down the temp to the LO setting as others have suggested. It got slightly cooler air from the vents but absolutely not chilled air at all. All the system is delivering is ambient-temp air from outside. Someone previously mentioned getting Arctic air at the LO setting. Well, not in my Corolla! I have the car booked into the dealer on Thursday, thanks for the tip re comparing with another Corolla, let's see what transpires.

  3. The Corolla was the best car I ever owned (reliability over fancy) but now I'm with a small VW and wanting to move back to Toyota so the Aygo (2014 - 2018) seems to be the pick. Gas economy, 5 doors, modern accessories, with main drawback being its safety crash test scores. That aside, main focus now is getting CarPlay in the car through a tablet, a dongle or whatever. See you around

  4. Hi mate, I’m afraid that display is on the GR Sport only. I know this as I have an Excel and it’s digital or analog only.

  7. Had a bit of a surprise parking sensor malfunction warning today. I drove the missus to a hospital appointment and parked up, no problem. When I came out to go home I put the car in Ready mode and when I selected "D" the brakes slammed on and I got a picture of the car on the MFD with a big red bar across the front and a loud continuous bleep, suggesting there was something close, in front of the car. I put it back in "P" and got out to check and make sure there wasn't anything there, there wasn't so I wiped the front sensors, got back in the car and selected "D" again, same thing. I was thinking, how do I get out of this, I had reversed in to the parking space and thought I was stuck not being able to go forward. I thought I would try to drive forward and lo and behold it let me, releasing the brakes, I'm assuming the accelerator over rides the brakes with manual input. As I started driving along the display changed to a picture of the car with the sensors greyed out and a message saying clean the parking sensors (no indication of which ones). I stopped off on the way home for some breakfast and wiped all the other side and back sensors, came back and set off, no message, I thought great, then it came on again, this time as I was driving, so I drove home and was thinking of phoning the dealer. I then went out again a little later and thought, I'll clean the front badge in case it's something to do with the radar and as I was wiping the badge I noticed the two black sensors on the front, just under the top grill, which I had forgotten about/not noticed and there was a huge blob of water on one of them which I wiped off, went out and no warnings, problem solved. There was a lot of rain last night and I can only think that the sensor was dry when I first set out and the water had run down off the front when I parked up at the hospital. 👍

  8. Great result, the black sensors are pretty well disguised. I am glad it all worked out and useful to remember in case if it happens to any of us 😀

  10. Congratulations for the new motor 👌 Factory sat navs are usually not as good as smartphone can be, if you have a smartphone with good readable display you can download google maps even using them offline if you have data restrictions and this is the best sat nav for any car. You will need a good phone mount something like Kenu airframe and you are good to go. Very important step of the ownership of the car is to secure the catalytic converter with cat lock, remove all hybrid badges and always park when possible in secure car parks. This is important to secure your car and prevent nasty surprises in future. We don’t want to stress but to help you avoid unnecessary headaches. All the best 👍

  11. Hi, yes should be chilly cold air coming out the vent when settings are at low, the description of the issue sounds like low gas pressure, something that usually happens after years of use without regas, but could be compressor fault or something else since light comes on and goes out after a while, plus it’s a brand new car. Dealer should be able to find and fix the issue for you. We did recently regased our two old Toyota’s, my one ac was good, but the other one similar to yours, mine took less gas than the other, now both cars has an icy cold AC. Regards 👍

  12. Hahahaha yea man me too, had my car serviced yesterday and was told it was pushed back towards the end of the year... sad times indeed.

  13. In my experience this is not the case. If there's substantial water ingress, especially from the rear of the car, the dehumidification ability of the aircon is insufficient to dry out the interior. For that you would get much better results with an actual dehumidifier.

  14. You can also use Toyota's recall checker, which also provides some information on recent recalls - https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/vehicle-information/recall-checker

  15. My point is, that if the aircon doesn't work properly, or a previous owner didn't use it, the CAR will be smelly from the damp and condensation generally. Aircon desiccates the interior and providing it's used every single time the car is used, everything will be dry .............. and not smell like a wet dog. Mick.

  16. It depends on how worn the block/internals are but with fuel and map 200-280 making sure it has the lift bolts and uprated head bolts, build the block, Turbo or SC with a flowed head 380-500 a full uprated gasket set is £190 https://shopbhp.com/collections/2zz-ge?sort_by= just have a look on the lotus forums, by no means am i knowledgable with the 2zz but have a feel for what things can take At the end of the day it's what sort of money you want to throw at it £3-4k with get you a built engine with Cosworth pistons and rods A Cosworth short block will run you £8K with a full engine in the £11-14K http://www.ttlas.com/Cosworth_Toyota2ZZ_0612_5.pdf

  17. Check in the boot. especially in the 12v battery well, the MK2 can suffer a split in the rear seam either side of the roof, water enters and runs down into the rear boot wells, a musty smell is the first hint there is an issue, next will be warning lights as the water runs down a harness on the LHS corroding a plug and causing short circuits.

  18. I reckon you going to find it the most relaxing and easiest car to drive you have had. re retro fit sat nav. I pretty sure it will already have been done. Suggest you do a search on this forum. Be careful though, map updates can be very expensive and still not fully up to date. My opinion is buy a stand alone sat nav with free updates - likely to be a much cheaper option.

  19. Yes, it's worth the wait! And bearing in mind the factory was closed, your actual working week time is about normal. The Corolla has been a massive boost for Toyota, high demand for it is a good thing.

  20. As low as 4c? Wow. That's a lot lower than I'd expect and makes me wonder if my A/C is working properly. The most I've ever felt coming from the vents is a chilly breeze. 4c should make me fear for frostbrite.

  21. Depends where the smell is coming from, if from the boot of the car and especially from the HV battery vent, then the rubber tubing around HV battery is deterated and needs changing, smell is from the tubes not the fumes from the battery. Google it, plenty of guides and not difficult, but takes time.

  22. You can use the MOT history check website to determine whether the mileage seems to be correct and see what failures and advisories the car has previously had - https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

  23. Hi, definitely something wrong with the air con. The green light should stay ON all the times when air con is turned ON no matter if the compressor works or not, if there is no gas in then will light up for a,second and goes out, or no light at al and the compressor will not start. When settings are at Low use a thermometer and put it on the vents and readings should be between 4C°to 6C°. You can also ask the dealer to open another Corolla for comparison., only compare at the Lowest settings, not actually temperature like 20-22 or whatever degrees. Good luck 👍

  24. I placed my order early March 2020 and my car ( Corolla 2.0 HB Excel with JBL and Pearlescent) was delivered to the dealer on July 1st. Hopefully collecting July 17-18.

  25. Hi Chelsea. I ordered mine at the end of Jan for early April delivery. Then the lockdown and factory closure happened. I finally got my car on June 27, just over a week ago. So 20 weeks from order to delivery, which includes 12 weeks of lockdown and factory closure. Not bad under the circumstances.

  26. I agree. The light in the switch is just a reminder that you have the A/C switched on and it neither confirms nor denies that the A/C is working. The only thing it confirms is that the little bulb inside the switch works. If it is flickering or going on and off, either the switch or the bulb inside it is faulty, nothing else.

  27. I can confirm that the Air con light stays on if you press it, and won't go out until you switch it off, regardless of whether it has cooled ( or warmed) the cabin to the set temperature. Light going off of it's own accord suggests a fault.

  29. Like others, the smoothless of when the engine kicks in is remarkable! Only really hear the engine at low speeds. One think I do notice when travelling at a steady 50 mpg, is that I can tell when the hybrid system instructs the ICE to charge the battery, without looking at the indicator. I can feel a resistance as the ICE is used to generate, and a release when the ICE returns to powering the drive wheels only. I often look at the hybrid indicator when I feel this, and a second later, the arrows start circulating towards the battery . Strange feeling, when you have not driven a Hybrid before, but you get used to it.

  30. Try either Parts King or Toyota's ebay store.

  31. I would replace them all, if it were mine. I would expect to find other things wrong with it. i.e. rusty brake pipes and siezed bleed nipples. You might end up biting off more than you can chew. Maybe it's one for the experts.

  32. Aside from DVSA recalls, Toyota highlight issues which may affect their vehicles either by the issue of Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) to their dealerships or via a Voluntary Customer Service Campaign (VCSC). One can raise a query with one's dealer re whether one's vehicle is affected by a TSB. One can also use Toyota's recall checker to establish whether one's vehicle has any outstanding recall or VCSC - https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/vehicle-information/recall-checker-info.json#/iframe/https%3A%2F%2Fforms.toyota.co.uk%2Frecall-checker In both instances TSB or VCSC work is free of charge to the owner.
