  1. Further update on this. Today I visited the dealer and they gave me a written report on the work they did last week and why: They said this would also appear in the Service section of the My Toyota app (not there yet, though). The now-gassed A/C works perfectly with actual cold air being delivered when required according to temp setting, just as it should do.

  3. Never done a wrap before, enjoyed process but its rubbish, needs to come off as full of wrinkles, needed car so been using as is for past few days. I tend to do mirrors also. I am a magpie for Purple, this wrap is black purple gloss. Its going to cost another £50 for materials and a prof is going to help and teach me circa £50. Thoughts please. I can handle the good bad ugly. I own the car.

  4. Took delivery of my poverty spec new work van today. Order went through 20th Dec it turns out. 2020 car with Android Auto. Hand over at my house all painless and done at physical distance. First job done by the delivery driver was to sanitise the new car. First impressions are good. CVT takes time getting used to. Cabin space is good but it replaces a 2017 Skoda Superb estate, so Everything is smaller after that.

  6. Brought an LED interior light upgrade kit. Most were easy to replace, only awkward ones were in the upper front console. The whole unit has to be levered out, unplugged then disassembled, in order to fit the LED plate. But it's worth it, now the cabin lights up, previous lights gave off about the same as a hot nail.

  7. Just checking on my service history and clicked onto Driving Analytics. Is everyone's data as far out as mine for maximum speed? Have you got an even higher speed on your graph, or does anyone's data reflect something nearer to reality?

  8. Nice one, happy they did it. Even Toyota once in a while can miss something, but most importantly they fixed at the end. 😉👌

  9. All Toyota hybrids are timing chain driven, no need to worry about them service or replace, only important is to do regular services on time and with the correct oil grade and quality filters. That’s all. 👍

  10. I have recently, very nervously fitted LEDs to the puddle lights. I was convinced I was going to break something, but got away with it. I can't understand why the RAV4, a more recent vehicle, doesn't have the LEDs with a built in image like the CHR.

  11. Denim Blue, beautiful colour! By next summer or 5-6,000 miles, your mpg will be even better. But not in winter!

  14. I don't have the version numbers off hand for you but I will just mention that the update takes some time to do so to anyone who still needs this doing do be prepared for this. I had my car's first service a couple of weeks ago, which took an hour and 20 mins while I waited. I asked about the software update (I'm still on the original 2019 first version) and was told this can't be done while being serviced so it has to be done afterwards. The update takes a further 90 minutes. As the wait that day was already so tedious I didn't bother getting that done and will wait for the next service when maybe I can leave the car with them for the day and get a courtesy car.

  16. Coming in a bit late but: Prius plugin gen1 2012 to 2015. Same body as facelifted gen3 prius (but no spare wheel bay or underfloor storage). 4kW battery and type1 EV connector. Prius plugin production ceased for 2016. Prius plugin gen2 2017 to 2019. Slightly different body to gen4 prius and only 4 seats. 8kW battery and type2 EV connector. Prius plugin gen2 2019+. Facelifted version with 5 seats and repositioned heated seat switches. When searching for used prius plugins, some dealers list them as a normal prius but you can tell them apart by the EV charging flap on the driver side and for the gen2 plugin, the front headlights. Note: HSDish is in Sweden so the plugin flap is on the passenger side but in UK it is on the driver side.

  17. Sorry to hear of your problems, I would ask your dealer to update your multimedia unit to the latest firmware. There is an update that stops a phantom battery drain on the 12v battery from the media unit. Hope you get it sorted 👍

  18. That's a glitch in the app! It is reading KPH as MPH hence the 126mph (unless you've been a naughty driver!) The current version of the app seems to fix the issue as my average speed is now 26mph, down from 137mph!!!

  19. Toyota issued advice during lockdown on battery maintenance, some of which applies to infrequent use for periods, etc:

  20. It's possible your dealer allowed the 12V battery to go flat during the lockdown if it was stored for any length of time after delivery. If it was left flat for any length of time, the battery would have degraded and be in need of replacement - shouldn't be problem under the warranty. When the original Prius was launched in Europe in 2000, they used to go flat during the sea journey from Japan, and again on dealer lots as they sold very slowly. I understand that once the issue became known the 12V battery was disconnect for the ship journey. My first 2002 Prius had early battery failure, as did my 2016 Gen 4 Prius, but both times the dealer replaced them without quibble and no further issues arose. In fact, my 2nd Gen 1 Prius was 9 years old when I sold it with 163,000 miles on it, still on the original battery. If you're interested in some further background info, see this thread:

  21. Tony &Konrad Thank you so much for replying with good detailed info . Will get tool and go to work. This is the first car I owned with disk brakes all round . Used to drive older cars with drum brakes in rear , Done front brakes many times ,rear shoes never seemed to wear out . I guess nearly all braking was on front wheels Should be good will follow your instructions Thanks again Martin

  22. I've always thought that my 2013 Auris is a bit on the slow side on the cooling front. However, yesterday, I went on a short shopping run. The car had warmed in the sun and the cabin was hot so I turned on AC / Climate: 20 degrees Celsius, eco / slow mode and... for some reason the car cooled much quicker then I think is normally does. Cool / cold air from the vents within seconds. I guess the sensors makes the system cool quicker when the cabin is hotter. I drove off a happy bunny wishing it would do this every time... (I always have all vents open, so no "user error" on this side).

  23. I noticed the other day that the driver door vent was fully closed (I must have turned it too far to redirect it) and since opening that vent I seem to be getting cooler air out of all the vents. Not quite sure why that would be.

  24. Update July 17. The car spent 90 minutes at the dealer. They told me their check showed the system had no gas in it. They filled it with the amount required, I believe it's 500g. They had told me previously there was an apparent leak in the system, so the gas has a dye marker with it that will show under UV light. They asked me to use the car with the A/C on for the coming week, let them know what I experience. If the A/C works as expected, according to my perception, then all is good. If not, bring the car back where they'll check the dye marker to see if there is a leak. Next steps (in terms of warranty repair) will depend on outcome of that test. Bottom line today, though, is that for the first time since I took delivery of the car on June 27, I have functioning A/C that does blow pretty cold air. A test drive with it from being parked in the sun showed that in today's temp - 26C where I am - the car interior very quickly felt nicely chilled with the A/C temp dial set to 19C. Definitely cold air out of the vents! So it appears that the car had no A/C gas when it left the factory. Worse than that, this clearly was not noticed by anyone during any pre-delivery checks. I'm not terribly impressed with that, frankly. Still, it looks like I will have a nice cooled interior in time for the mini heatwave that apparently will arrive next week.

  25. Try changing the cabin filter behind the glove box. I had the wet dog smell in my Gen 3 when I purchased the car. I replaced the cabin filter and the smell disappeared. HTH
