  1. Good luck with the long drive, I'm sure you will enjoy! My dealer played down the "Running in" aspect when you first get the car, but I was careful the first 1000 miles, and I'm sure it pays off in the long run, with better mpg as the engine beds in. ( Officially first 1000KM, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to take care for 1000 miles). "Breaking in your new Toyota To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended: ●For the first 300 km (186 miles): Avoid sudden stops. ●For the first 800 km (500 miles): Do not tow a trailer. ●For the first 1000 km (621 miles): • Do not drive at extremely high speeds. • Avoid sudden acceleration. • Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods."

  2. Yes, I'm sure it just requires the dealer to enter some more details, the day I ordered the car I got a MyT activation email and I followed the instructions provided, I didn't enter a VIN. This is probably the process that all dealers should follow so that the customer can track their car right the way through order, production and delivery. Some individual salesmen may be more on top of the tech side than others. My Corolla (and I) will get a baptism of fire as I'm doing a 285mile journey straight after I collect it, that'll teach me how comfortable those seats are or aren't!

  3. Cleaned up under both rear wheel arches today. Spent about 4 hours on doing both rears, cleaned the brake lines, all the mud out, treat some rough spots, and repainted it. I'll hopefully do the front tomorrow, if the weather is ok.

  4. Hi everyone. Just joined the forum. I have owned a Corolla Excel hybrid for a little over 2 months now. I previously owned a Celica almost 20 years ago which gave me 5 of the most enjoyable years driving.

  5. Thee wife’s Auris hybrid is 10 years old and about 70k miles and performance of hybrid battery seems ok. I would imagine after 10 years there is some loss, but if there is it is not really noticeable.

  6. I got a reply from Toyota Customer Care regarding software updates: There are software updates being implemented which will be available, the Toyota Centres will be informed of the software updates as bulletins are provided to rectify known issues which have been raised. We would advise you to contact your Toyota Centre at your next service and raise your concerns where they can forward these concerns to the Technical Team. The more reports received, it can be collated and software updates can be considered in the future. The way I read this is to lodge any reports, such as making the Brake Hold a sticky setting, with your Toyota Centre and make sure they record it properly. Toyota must have a software change team and they should be keen to have user input.

  7. After many hours and then remembering its in German i have the info it shows 4 wires pin 1 - White/Red - Battery positive Pin 2 - Brown - Rpm Signal Pin 3 - Black/Orange - Ground Pin 4 - Red/Yellow - LED dimming signal (dimmung-signal) Im still looking to see how the dimming works (slow process translating from German) on the Agila, from what i can gather the Aygo uses a positive switch lighting if you ground the Red/Yellow it should give you lighting, If so that should be simple to sort out

  8. Not sure why you refer to 6.12L update as it’s not listed on the e-store page. As has been said, if you register on the site, enter your Touch id code and select the Maps tab you will see all available updates. You need to choose 6.15L and follow the instructions that follow for both downloading to the usb stick and for installing the update.

  9. As Martin and others have said above, the updates are free for the first 3 years of ownership as long as you have fully registered you and your car on MyToyota. As to the cost, it's the weird way that the Toyota estore website works. It will appear that you are going to get charged right up to the point where you checkout your basket but at that point, the charge will show as £0.00 (as long as you are correctly registered and logged in)

  10. Thanks for the advice, folks. I'll certainly take it up with the dealer when I collect my car tomorrow!

  11. Mine was a 3 step process. It firstly appeared in the MyT app when it arrived at the dealer. I could see the VIN number and tell it to connect to the app. The progress was at 88% from that point and when I collected it and seemingly everything was working. The dealer said that in a couple of days it would go to 100% which it did. I think the last stage was waiting for the car registration because for those first 2 days, all the functions worked but it only had the VIN and not the reg in the car information screen.

  12. Check when you pick up the car that it has been activated. It sounds like yours has not. When I picked mine up in May 2019, no one in the dealer said anything, so it was September before I finally got it activated. I think things are better now, but you will find My T useful once it is fully working.

  17. bigblock, I am sure you are correct there. My preference is for brake hold to be a memory setting rather than a power off reset. As much of the car is computer operated, I am sure there is a possibility of a software upgrade. I have asked Toyota the question.

  18. Apologies HSDish. Remind me not to use my phone for posting, it doesn't show your vehicle details.

  19. That is for the gen2 plugin. HSDish has a gen1 plugin.

  20. Full charge from empty is usually about 6. 2 or 6.5 kWh. Occasionally, it may be a bit more or less, depending on how the car has behaved in hybrid mode.

  21. The CH-R instrument cluster looks classic and better than Corolla imo, I think it’s down to personal preferences, the eco think that replaces the RPM part is much better and more useful than Corolla RPM meter that doesn’t make any sense in hybrid cars., old school car like Camry and Auris and outlander it’s verY useful and helps a lot driver to understand what is going on under the bonnet, how acceleration is happening, what mode you are driving , and when regenerate and how much, I am constantly monitoring this when driving my car. If I buy the Corolla first thing that I will look in the settings is to make it looks like Chr / Auris dash. 👍

  22. Lots of comments with which I agree so at pains of repeating: My 1.8 is great and has the high boot tray of the 2.0 as it has a space saver wheel. It is the tool holders which are higher than the wheel which require the higher tray. Unlike many similar competitors the Toyota has plenty of physical buttons and controls but I echo the other complains that the Hold button needs to be activated every time you start: that is a pain. I also find the cruise control overly complicated as you need to press one place to energise before using the Set function to engage and then Resume to increase the speed set. I suspect this is intended as a safety feature to stop inadvertent selection. If you have the adaptive function switched off you can fine tune the cruise setting to the precise speed. If you have the ACC on it only changes in 5 mph increments. Pressing Resume I occasionally switch it off - fat fingers. I find noise is indeed significant over 60-65 as mentioned. I have a hatchback and miss the 12v Socket in the boot. The single USB point is on the right side of the passenger (left hand seat) I would prefer that in the centre. There is not much stowage space in the front for bunches of keys - a disadvantage of a keyless system. If the door is open the car continually bongs at you. I haven't found a way of switching that off. I have no issue with either autoheadlight or auto wipe functions. However it did catch me out that you cannot select Rear Fog light when lamps are set to auto. I agree the cabin is dark but I soon got used to it. Consumption-wise the results are interesting. My consumption has settled around 65-67 varying between high 70s to low 60s. Must driving is on country B roads where a cruise speed 40-45 is quite comfortable. Driving at an true 60 on a trunk road I get 67 one way and 57 the other (one is more downhill) at an average journey speed of 40. Hwever when the garage took the car back they knocked the consumption down to 48. The telematics are great for keeping an eye on what the car has been doing when someone else is driving it. Bottom line though, I love driving it so much that I hog the driving.

  23. There is a line of thought, Nishi, that these scumbags that pinch cats are not too bothered about alarms - most people ignore them anyway, and, would you intervene in a theft when you see the scums with big heavy tools in their hands.? i seen videos on YouTube showing scums jacking a parked car on a road, blocking the whole road with their own car, with a queue of traffic behind them. Obviously the drivers of those cars can see what’s going on and no one dare intervene. The scums only take a couple minutes to do their theft. A guy on this forum was in his house, heard his alarm going off on his car, by the time he got out the scums had his cat and were driving away. So, you could save your money, buy a couple of stickers “Tilt Alarm Fitted” off eBay and hope that deters them, after all, lots of people fit dummy alarm boxes on their homes just to deter would be thieves ie “go and rob someone else’s home”.

  24. I have 2.0TS Exec. Before I had Passat 2.0tdi DSG. I switched because I didn't want to pay to have similar car. My. Passat was 13years old but new one had similar engine and similar transmission. 1.8 was not interesting since I like to have possibility to go faster. Car is good, for me even comfortable with 18 wheels, transmission asks for some getting used to it (high revs etc) but works great. Best thing is calm drive, easy start, quiet. Consumption is 5,8l in average, appx 1.5 l less than Passat diesel. Infotainment is a bit oldish, works ok but nothing more. Every drive is enjoy so far, we did 12t km in 7 months.
