  1. Hi, I am not sure you can book hhc on its own, been only available as part of the regular service at no extra cost. Best to speak to your dealer. If the car needs service again this will include the hhc. Regards

  2. I have checked the forum but cannot see this topic? Has anyone fitted a dashcam, where was the power taken from? Routing of the cable .. can it be thread around the windscreen or would this interfere with any airbags? any help gratefully received

  3. Thanks, that’s good to know. Battery health check is good especially if you run into trouble and decide to go through warranty for repair if you are eligible, otherwise the check itself does not warrant the battery or inverter will work as the should for the next 12 or more months,. My point is no need to rush to do it, but if you want to stay covered best to stick with dealer/ manufacturer recommendations for service and maintenance. , and you know you are covered if anything goes wrong. 👍

  4. The lock will be gummed up from years of not being used, it needs a good soak with some lube you may also need a pair of piers to turn the key in the lock if it's the small key you slide out of the fob work it backwards and forwards to work the lube in

  5. I have read that the HHC is free as part of a service but £45 on its own. Although I will double check that if I am mistaken. Thanks for your reply edit - you can get a HHC on its own

  6. As flash mentions it is a manual gearbox with robotised clutch and shift actions: "1. Even the engine has good enough RPM, it takes a longer time than the usual automatic car to gear up and speed up." Like A manual transmission the car has to dip the clutch, shift the gear and re-engage the clutch when shifting for you, you can assist this by ( like a manual ) by lifting off the throttle when the car shifts and reapply as it engages the clutch this smooths the shift and eases wear on the clutch, as you get used to the car you can usually anticipate the car shifting, being a 2013 model you also have paddle shifts and using these can improve shift as the car will change when you command rather than when it thinks is best ( don't worry you can't mis-shift ) "2. On an uphill slope, the car is easily sliding backwards even it's in E gear. It seems dangerous." Again like a manual you should not do this as the car will be slipping the clutch and you will overheat and damage the clutch, the car is not designed to hold you on a hill, like a manual in these circumstances you apply the handbrake and shift to neutral whilst waiting DO NOT hold the car by applying throttle, when you are ready to pull away again like a manual select a gear ( E ) and gently apply throttle until you feel the car pull on the parking brake and release the parking brake to move off.

  7. The fact that it is an effort to move from park to R indicates that that the car is resting on the park mechanism ie the car has moved slightly before the parking brake has engaged. I make sure I keep my foot on the brake pedal before engaging park then waiting for the parking brake to energise. if you have done what tony had has suggested and you still have a problem suggest you have a word with dealer.

It is not a total solution but ALL hybrid owners of all models may wish to know that in Derbyshire...and possibly many other counties...the police have been co-operating with Vertu Toyota and supplying them with Smartwater kits. This week I was offered a Smartwater application free of charge on the CHR-R I was taking delivery of and as a result the catalyser and adjoining tubing have been treated. The application is unique and you are given a certificate and window stickers. It means anyone handling the cat will have the DNA on their body or clothing etc and it can be traced back to you and the garage. Apparently the reason there have been so few prosecutions the the difficulty of proving ownership when cats have been discovered in thieves' possession. One small step but it could mean that it becomes much less attractive to these scoundrels. The service manager at Vertu told me that in his experience CH-R cars are not targeted because the cat is difficult to reach.   9. Hello Mate, I can recommend Halfords for fitting Dash Cams. Very quick, cheap, do a perfect job. I would say much better than the hassel of DIY (they put two in my Prius, rear and front), cheers, Mark

  12. Book time vs mechanics times are very different, if you have done a job 100's of times, you know the quickest way to do something Disconnect the battery, pull the fuel pump, put the new one in, pull the airbag, swap it out - connect the battery 40-60 mins total, warranty work is all flat rate

  13. As long as the car is standard (no aftermarket stuff with codes and so on that might be lost) it is all as straightforward as you say. Make sure the windows are fully up first, if not they need a quick reset afterwards by holding the window switches in the fully up and then fully down positions to reset one touch function.

  14. Maybe the “air bag” mechanic was available at 8:30, and the “fuel plate” mechanic available at 11:00. Who knows. And at some point they wanted your car out of workshop space to do something else.

  16. I made a post a couple of months ago - and mooted the GPF as the potential culprit. have to admit in the milder weather, I’ve not noticed any smoke / steam at all. No change in fluid levels either.

  17. The 2 litre hybrid engine has a GPF (gasoline particulate filter) fitted in the exhaust. I would imagine that this is another part of the exhaust that will draw heat from the exhaust gases, leaving the rest of the exhaust running cooler, and thence more prone to condensation, perhaps? I don't believe that these devices are likely to suffer the bad reputation that their diesel equivalents have got. As I understand it, they are necessary to clean out particulates that are a byproduct of the 2 litre engine's direct injection system. As engine emission regulations get tighter then they will likely become more common on other cars. The new Yaris hybrid has one fitted as well. Another poster had a similar comment to you a few months back, I seem to remember, on the same car.

  18. Yes, appears totally normal with this car, and it's not down to lack of use or dampness with mine. I've purposely checked it out once or twice in the last 12 months and it happens even when I've done a long run.

  19. It depends on what you want. If you are keeping the car for a long time and had better audio in another car, yes it is worth it. When I owned my '98 T22, the speakers sounded bad on hot days, because the inner cone rubbed against the magnet or coil. I put up with it and found a way to reduce the rubbing. It worked mostly because there were very few hot days. The problem was with one speaker, but other front speaker began to have the same issue. I went and replaced all the speakers with 6.5" JBL 2 way speakers. Sony CD/radio/cassette stereo fitted from factory, had high power and easily drove these efficient speakers. The difference was night and day, so it was worth the upgrade. For a while, I had both the T22 and my current T27. The T22 had better midrange and bass to treble balanced sound, where the T27 has weak midrange, slightly drowned in the bass. The dash mount tweeters save the high end. I made some adjustment to compensate the sound. If the speakers start to have any problems, I will consider replacing them.

  21. That whining noise is now gone! I covered left front tweeter crossover with tin foil and placed it a little bit different spot under dash. I noticed there is bunch of wires just where crossover was, so tweeter must get that noise from there. After all, problem solved.

  22. Hello, Just thought I’d post this, to help anyone ‘googling’ in future. Last night I had a puncture, so removed the wheel and put the space saver on (which saved the day!), and can report that the full size wheel that I removed (alloy & tyre) *easily* fits in the wheel well in the boot, and still allows the boot floor to be on the lower setting. The ‘hollow’ shape of the alloy also means there’s plenty of space inside the wheel once secured in the wheel well, to store all the tools. Useful to know for anyone going touring who will want to take a full sized spare with them.

  23. The catalytic converter, for my 1.6 petrol only (non-hybrid) gen 2 Auris, was stolen three weeks ago around 9pm from a densely populated area in North London. Repair cost is £3k - luckily insurance agreed to pay this time but won't have the car for at least a month as parts are on back order. Witness told me that it was four men who were gone in four minutes. I really like my car as it's the Excel model and wanted to keep it long-term. I was thinking of fitting a catloc and tilt alarm but I am now seriously considering selling it. Bottom line - thieves don't care if it's hybrid or not.

  24. Also maybe worth mentioning that KwikFit can order the Falcon tyres that come as standard for same day fitting and cost £75 (ish). I realise may be cheaper on line etc, but for the ‘I need a new tyre today’ scenario, it’s good to know.

  25. It's different on the Corolla, it's higher up and covered by a couple of beams and the lower undertrays, not seen one stolen on a new Corolla. I'm not saying it can't be done but I think it's a whole load more difficult, lets not forget these scroats want a quick get away, not messing about under the car for too long
