  1. This press release yesterday May 13 from Toyota UK is good news for owners of older cars - https://media.toyota.co.uk/2021/05/toyota-to-covertly-mark-more-than-100000-catalytic-converters-to-combat-theft/ Notable:

  2. It's the sound of electric sheep 😉 I had an Hyundai Kona Electric until recently. The artificial sound on that was quite strange. I believe the legislation requires certain frequencies at specified volumes to be present, but beyond/within that manufacturers can make it their own - like body styling.

  3. Here is the photos of the process and i hope it gives everyone an idea how to take it off. My car is a 2.0 D4D which is a little bit smaller than the 2,2 but they are almost the same engine. 975152715_5Thinjector.pdf

  4. You might get a reply from Prius Chat, Gen 3 is the most similar car and in America there's a huge number of people do their own repairs. Also it might be worth paying for a short subscription to Toyota's manual where you can find all the information. I believe you can do it for just a day but download as many pages as you want

  6. I don't want new wheels (mine are only 6 months old and I like the OE look), but I wanted to know the wheel width and offset so I knew what the widest tyres that would fit are.

  7. Welcome Marty....maybe a contact cleaner might help.? Fuse boxes in the Esti are well hidden way ..you''ll find them tucked away in the side panels of the driver and passenger footwells...they are mini fuses.

  8. Hi and thanks for all the advice. It is a ex reps double glazing car with 105k on the clock. Service history shows a couple of instances where tyres have been replaced due to eggs being found. I am running the tyres on 34 psi which I believe is correct, according to the shell service station machine. The tyres are Falken which I understand is a budget brand. It could just be that I have spring problems, however the handling is fine. I have it booked for a test drive on Monday with the local Toyota dealer. I'll let you all know how I get on.

  9. It's about moving with the times. I have to admit many years ago, I was too attached to 'cassettes', until I got my '98 Avensis GLS with the standard radio/CD/cassette. The CD player had a fault, which I later fixed, but add a 10 disc changer. The cassette player was awful. Then I added a Connects2 i-connect USB interface between the CD changer and main unit. I later added Bluetooth. When I got my current car - 2009 Avensis, it didn't have USB only AUX and the Bluetooth on worked for voice calls! I bought a new Bluetooth/USB adapter and barely use the CD player, even though it can player MP3/WMA music. So long as you have a laptop or computer with a CD drive, converting CD to MP3 and load to a memory stick, is a quick and easy task. So I have been weaned from cassettes and CD's to music on memory sticks or phone.

  10. I stop using CD's in car 10+ years ago, I don't think anything other than base the base spec Yaris has had a CD player since 2014 The touch 2 does not support a USB external drive either, It may have legacy support for a cd changer, but a dealer will not fit it as it's not worth their time and/or it may not be available it will be less hassle to use a pc/mac rip your cd's and save them to a USB stick/drive - a 16gb drive will hold 2000+ tracks (4-6 days worth) a Kingston or SanDisk 16gb drive is around £8

  11. Definitely the Brodit Proclip - I've bought one a few months ago and it's really good. You will need to be aware of two things: first, it's a two parter meaning you have to buy the Proclip as shown in the picture, and then an actual phone holder that you screw / tape onto the holder. The other thing is there are two versions - one that fits with AC and one that fits with climate control.

  13. Soo yesteray I went to remap car.. First couple of dyno testings were as you see 64.6 wheel horsepower and 160Nm I asked guy who is doing that is it normal since i didnt know He said its normal its not power loss due years just different measurements in factory and every car is in papers more power than it really is So remmaping started We pulled out ECU started remapping and we were pulling out couple times ecu for better performance and best we could get with 1bar boost so thats 0.1 more than stock is this So increase in power on wheels is from 64.6 to 80.2 and in torque from 160 to to 197Nm on 400 less rpms which is great Before remap car was "dead" before 2k rpm now he is pulling great on 1800rpm and if you touch gas pedal he start pulling immediately Really happy with remap definitely faster, but will "race" with friends chipped IQ so I will post results Tried 0-100/0-62 got first time 9.1sec Need to learn how to start properly car from zero but not really in mood for that so I dont break my transmission And yeah he said this remap is safe everything more than that can hurt engine so this is far as I will go Next mod is am gonna put kyb suspension since I would like litlle bit stiffer and more predictable car while cornering TLDR: remapped car and I am really really happy with results

  14. It's different because when they are blocked they are actually stuck open. This will effectively stick it shut. Its a personal choice.
