  1. Hi All, when the large screen is in energy mode monitor showing how the ice and traction battery are operating, in the top right hand corner of the screen I noticed a battery 🔋 showing a battery like depicted half full all the time. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it means. It’s color is white. Can anyone confirm is that showing the state of charge for the 12 volt battery and after driving 30 miles it doesn’t change.??

  2. All of those indicators at the top right are a copy of your phone's connectivity/power icons. If you are using an Android device, it's what appears at the top right of your notification bar...

  4. You need to write the vin to the ecu and setup the ecu for your car, the keys will need to be programmed too The ECU needs to talk to the gateway, immobilizer and cluster for security

  6. Sorry to hear what has happened... A turbo failing is usually pretty easy to spot because the noise doesn't quite follow the engine revs as the turbo spins up to speed and and it also take a little while to spin back down. So if you accelerate hard in 3rd gear gear to a good speed and then suddenly go into neutral the turbo will spin back down slowly and you would follow the noise of it doing that. A failing turbo is often said to sound like a siren rising and falling in pitch. Blower fan is easy to eliminate, just turn it all off. You would need to look at what consumer rights apply depending on who/where you bought it. Private sales I believe have little or no comeback, buying from a garage or trader does.

  7. Mine has been like that from new, I have always been able to see a sliver of the top of the number plate from the rear view camera!

  8. The first time I drove an automatic car (Corolla/Auris petrol CVT) , my left foot decided it was now on braking duty. Unfortunately, it didn’t have quite the required finesse so I was bunny-hopping around the car rental garage, much to the amusement/alarm of the staff. Fortunately, normal service had resumed by the time I got out on the road. A few months later, I went to test drive my Auris hybrid and did exactly the same thing. Nowadays my left foot is planted firmly on the footrest, out of harm’s way.

  10. Bottle jacks have their uses im sure but jacking up large SUV's at the side of road isn't one them, I think they are too unstable if the ground isn't flat and solid. Go for a trolley jack. The lifting pints are all fairly obvious. Scissor jacks are ok but only a specific type as they need an attachment if lifting at the seam welds by the wheels. The lifting points at the front and rear require quite a high lift jack. When you get your jack always best to familiarise yourself first where all the lifting points are at home and practice. It isn't always as simple at night stranded at the side of the road 🙂 https://toyotarav4japan.blogspot.com/2019/07/toyota-rav4-jack-points_19.html

  11. Hi all, Over the past 20 years I’ve owned 1 Auris (wife’s car) and 6 Avensis and covered approximately 500k miles, the vast majority without any major problems, in fact the only problem was with a 2008 Avensis TR 2.2 D-4-D. When I retired a couple of years ago and the company car went back, I treated myself to a Jaguar XE, I’d been bitten by the Jaguar bug in my early 20’s when I (all too briefly) had a V12 E-Type. The XE has been a a fun car and was an “itch” that I needed to scratch, but unfortunately my wife has a back problem that isn’t going to get any better and the Jag is far too low for her, so time for a change. So after an absence of 2 years I’m going to be a Toyota owner once again, I’m awaiting delivery (hopefully another 3 weeks) of my RAV4 Hybrid Dynamic with Panoramic Roof in White Pearl / Black and I’m really looking forward to it.

  12. With the diesel version, the EGR can cause the 'Check parking brake' message, plus the VSC warning. It is important to get a proper diagnostics check done, to get codes and find the actual fault. Disconnecting the battery will not fix the real cause, that is triggering the warnings. If my suspicion that the EGR needs cleaning is correct, doing that may clear the faults. Just get the diagnostics done first.

  13. The update was dated yesterday and is, I think, an improvement. The presentation is different but each facit is presented as a bar graph. The annual fuel consumption graph shows the consumption month by month with a steady increase month by month from June with December and January tops and then improving until May. As I say, different but better.

  14. Catlover. The XE R-Sport is very low, when parked against the kerb it’s almost like getting up off the floor. we borrowed a RAV4 for an afternoon and she was fine, certainly much easier for her, although I’ll be sorry to see the Jag go.

  15. You should read/remove trouble code's with a diagnostic software (if You can't do it Yourself, plenty of workshops can do it). It looks like You have faulty ABS sensor (just a guess), and diagnostic softwares will tell if so. If there is no any faulty part anymore, the lights won't appear anymore after removing trouble codes.

  16. I would compare them to your original nipples, they might not be exactly the same but, a generic type. I recently ordered 4 for a Chevrolet Lacetti and while they fitted they were not identical and in the end I cleaned up the originals and put them back in. 🤞

  17. The car will have TPMS but doesn't have a menu. I suspect you are looking for a display of the pressures. The TPMS just puts on a warning light when pressure drops out of tolerance - it doesn't tell you which wheel, just warns you to go and check. Hope this helps.

  18. I think you need one of these. On a serious note, easiest way to identify the leak is to sit inside, and have some pour water over the car, then get to fixing.

  19. Unfortunately while your last car had adjustment and some do indeed let you alter the angle within a limited range, this isn’t something that is found in all or even most cars. You could also consider having a trimmer re-sculpt the headrest for you, it shouldn’t be that expensive and may give you the extra bit of comfort you are looking for.
