  1. Sounds like there's not enough refrigerant to allow the compressor to kick in. Needs a system check and refill...as Mike say..you may have leaks.

  2. MY21 2.0 GR Sports come with 18’s as standard, the 1.8 still comes with 17’s. Comfort is fine but I’m used to 18/19” wheels on previous cars. Road noise is certainly there, not too intrusive yet but time will tell, only done 80 miles so far!

  4. Picked up the new car today, over the moon just trying to come to grips with the Toyota app and settings. Controls very similar to the Subaru, not surprising really as Toyota part own Subaru.

  7. That s great, just another reason to buy Toyota cars and products. Well done. If you buy a new Toyota now in 2021 which actually is the most sensible choice for most drivers you are covered by the manufacturer for 5 years and another 5 on top if you continue to service with them and drive normally, not excessively. , what more can you ask for!? 👍👌🚗

  8. I'd suggest your first port of call would be an A/C specialist. If the gas has been gone for some time, then there's a likelihood of water vapour being in the system and then a new dryer would be necessary. A specialist will suck out any existing gas and oil, weigh it and leave a vacuum on the system to check for leaks. If there's a leak, there's no point in re-filling the system. If the system tests OK, they can then re-fill it with the correct amount of gas and oil. I've heard some places can charge as little as forty quid. I've recently had mine done, it lost around a third of the gas over seven years, which seems to be an acceptable rate of loss. It cost seventy quid at an independant and the A/C's still crap. It works, but nowhere near as well as other cars I've had.

  10. No need to apologise, we were all new sometime or other. Any other questions - just fire away, plenty people on here who can answer.

  11. That's how the hybrids are, a slight lip on the disk but nothing major, the rears don't get much use - if you're doing local runs and short journeys they never get the heat in to them

  12. It is common with Toyota hybrids that the brake discs show up rust. Due to the nature of braking on a Toyota hybrid, the actual brakes are used less then in a non hybrid car. The hybrid part of the car uses itself to slow the car down initially, more pressure on the brake pedal will bring the actual disc brakes into operation. This means the pads should last longer, but the actual discs will show rust signs and can actually prematurely end the life of a disc if it gets really bad. Best thing you can do, but only when its safe and no other vehicles about, is to brake very hard with continued pressure, This will help to keep the discs free of rust. Likewise, after a downfall of rain and your car been standing for a time, when you drive off you may hear a grinding sound, again this is the light surface rust that has been formed being rubbed off.

  13. It might be worth spending a little time reading the owners manual - long-winded and complex though it is. The really simple headline guidance states: and in more specific detail later on: There's a lot more than I have quoted ... 😉

  14. I would say guffer tape something as a temporary fix and wait for a reply from one of the guru's. The smoke could oil splattered on hot surface? I think this might be the part number but best confirm it, message @Parts-King , he's very helpful.

  15. Collected mine today, had a nice drive home, so smooth compared to my diesel Focus. Need to go through the menus and see what’s what..

  18. The car will have TPMS but doesn't have a menu. I suspect you are looking for a display of the pressures. The TPMS just puts on a warning light when pressure drops out of tolerance - it doesn't tell you which wheel, just warns you to go and check. Hope this helps.

  20. It is better to be straight with insurance companies. Far less hassle. They will always look for any possibility to not pay out or reduce the claim, ignorance is no excuse. If you knew of the modification, that will make you feel even sicker than a pig if you get caught out. Bad enough if you didn't know. Peace of mind is worth more. More often than not, the premium is not affected, or not by much. But if they think you are deceiving them, it can be in the future.
