  3. My 2.0 TS average for the last 12months, is 55.8mpg. That’s with mixed driving, it’s around 60mpg in warm summer, and 48-50 with cold winter weather. I do a mix of very short trips, and longer country lane runs. It’s 54-56mpg on motorway runs. 2.0 is a fine unit - very reasonable MPG considering the power output, smooth, responsive & plenty of performance

  4. It's not that the car requires a different driving style, it's just that the car, literally, encourages a different driving style, IMO. The reason I went hybrid, was lower emissions and better fuel economy. There's a feature on the My T app that shows how you do, and I treat it as a game trying to get the the most EV time and distance on any given trip.

  5. Hi, good choice for a car. Best to buy higher spec as possible as they come with useful extras. The car will definitely deliver its promise for efficiency, drivability and reliability. Fuel consumption can vary and depends on weather, loading, driving style, etc , it will most likely be between 4-5l/100km. Service as mentioned 2 x 15000km per year , best to stick with Toyota official dealer to keep your warranty. The car can last long indeed, not sure how long exactly but with carful driving and maintenance on time any car will last ages. I have a Toyota hybrid from 2010 , I drive 300km per day on average since 2018 and my car traveled total of 320000km with only regular maintenance 5 service per year, still on its original batteries, suspension, exhaust, the only items that are not original are wheel bearings and brakes. I have no plans to change for another car until this is still drivable and then after a Corolla hybrid is likely to be my next one, saloon or estate. 👍

  7. Hi, Auris hybrid is a good car indeed. The price I know nothing about if it’s a good one or not as recently the used car prices are so high and out of touch. , if it’s within your budget then it’s ok. For the battery best to ask Toyota to run a battery health check which will show you if there any issues with it. All general test and checks as for all used cars and if the car passes then there is nothing to worry about it. Hybrid battery has a cooling fun filter that needs checking and cleaning and at this miles egr may need cleaning too, it’s big job and can be costly, but nothing to put you off the car., it’s like a part of the maintenance. I have Auris hybrid 11 years old and has over 320000km , so far so good, almost all is original including hybrid battery and the small 12v battery. If the car been well looked after can give you more trouble free miles and years. Good luck 🤞

  8. I test drove a 2 litre C-HR for an hour last week & still managed to get 56 mpg average during my test drive without trying. I also had EV mode at 50 mph cruising on a dual carriageway for short distances. It was a lot more responsive then the 1.8 C-HR I had tested previously. Test drive both & see which suits your needs best before ordering.

  10. I'm pretty sad. I've got the app which will notify me when something change, I've got the email alert for if something changes and I've got a dealer that will call me but I'm still on the app 5 times a day to check.

  12. We have a current shape Yaris and it is fantastic. Far brisker than the 1.8 Corolla I have on order. Unsurprising as the Yaris has a more powerful motor and bigger battery in a smaller car. The Yaris 3 cylinder engine is a modular cutdown of the 2.0 Corolla engine. Our reasons for getting the 1.8 Corolla were: The 2.0 hatchback has a boot only 15% bigger than the Yaris which isn’t that great. There are only the two of us so a TS is overkill. At beyond our budget anyhow, I preferred a 1.8 Design to a 2.0 Icon that would have been a similar cost. Where we live in Kent is less than a mile from Dual Carriageway so any chance to use ultimate performance is pretty academic anyway. Although the number of AMG Mercs, not just AMG Line models around here, you would think we were around the corner from the Nurburgring. I am a press on driver, but even for me on town and dual carriageway roads the 1.8 is great. Only if your main drive includes single carriageway overtaking would I consider a lower spec 2.0 over a higher spec 1.8. Living elsewhere in the country would have a different criteria of priorities, but to me, the current Yaris fits in everywhere.

  13. Interestingly I like the information available on the Yaris mk4. Our standard screen is the one with average and live economy at the top of the 4.2” screen and range below. Personally I think a rev counter (as the Corolla has) is pointless on a CVT as you have no control over what it does, the Yaris energy meter is far more useful.

  15. Mk1 99-2005, Mk2 2005-2011, Mk3 2011-2021, Mk4 2021 onwards the 1ndtv was dropped in 2017 As you're in London, Ulez is a factor so that wipes out most Yaris diesels and any savings - it will not be long until the north circ becomes a ulez

  16. Hi David. Reading between the lines I would say you are a 2.0 litre guy. But you really need to drive both the 1.8 and 2.0 to be sure. My Design TS 2.0 is simply a super effortless drive with bags of power when needed. Very quiet engine and lovely refined drive. Mine is silver and looks great too. I can easily get 50 mpg plus most of the time. My average over 8000 miles is 56.4. Mixed driving in all weathers.

  18. Good information given so far and probably more to follow. I had owned neither of them but I am a hybrid driver, I had a couple of Priuses and currently I drive an Auris 1.8, tbh the 2.0 hybrid will suit your driving style more than 1.8. The 1.8 hybrid it’s not a slow car and drives absolutely fine on motorways, however it is not suitable for fast motorway driving (German style, autobahn keep up with traffic), any speeds over 70-80mph and going uphill or wanting more and pushing it the car will scream and you gonna feel it more than if you have the 2.0 one, remember that later will also behave similarly and it’s down to how the whole hybrid system works and how the torque is created and transferred to the driving wheels, it’s not lack of power, it’s simply a type of power train, the bigger engine here wins obviously as it does produce more low end torque, it does have bigger battery too but also will consume a bit more (5-10mpg an average against 1.8). If you about efficiency 1.8 is better, but if you about efficiency and performance then 2.0 is your winning bid. Touring sport also is probably the better choice too as it gives more room on the rear seats and obviously a larger boot. Good luck 👍

  19. I have the 2.0 ST Excel in Obsidian Blue, with the JBL speaker upgrade and the Panoramic Moonroof and I couldn't be happier. I've lost count of the number of positive comments about the colour. Mine's a company car though, and as I pay only 15p per mile personal mileage, that changes the complexion of the decision somewhat. I do find the kick-opening tailgate especially useful! 😁

It's just 2 extra wires to the switch, so that's simple enough - 2 relays - 2 wires to each door mirror Next step is to find the plug to the mirror and check relay box 4 (RB No.4) Shopping list. 2 relays Mirror switch and/or surround, example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265391010686 - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165176530586 sell the window switch 2 door mirrors A door loom (ideal for extra pins/wiring) If you want remote control mirrors, you need to see if the 2 relays are wired - if you just want them manual, press the button on the switch you can fit the relays where you want

Tbh the spark plug sockets sizes are confusing indeed because some sellers called them by the thread size but some by the wall socket, I shared earlier a link and Bob did too, these are the best sockets and these short ones are better than the longer one because in some cars like Prius/Auris you can take the plugs out without need to remove the wipers and surroundings, like many does unnecessarily, all you need is a short thin law socket with suitable extension bars, here I can show on my pictures. 👍

  22. Parts shortages are all over the place, and anecdotally, it seems to be getting worse as various stocks get used up. Try having a look on AUTODOC, they're usually pretty good, and they source the parts far more cheaply than a lot of places. They seem to list Aisin or LUK clutches for about 200 quid with 100 quid for an Aisin slave cylinder. The downside is delivery times can take a few days, and their aftersales support isn't always fantastic.

  25. Hi. I am new on here and just looking for some honest views on the HB and TS, as well as on the 1.8 versus 2.0L engines. I have never owned a hybrid before but realise from reading a lot of the great info on this site that it requires a different driving style to get good mpg. My current car is a petrol Seat Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5L 150hp and I get a mpg of 41-45 just driving backwards and forwards to work (about a 30 min run at varying speeds 40-70 depending on traffic mostly uphill on the Edinburgh bypass going and downhill coming back). I guess I might be described as a more aggressive driver, although far from being a boy racer, particularly at my age (young 58 lol). I have read alot on here about the poorer mpg with the 2.0L engine and speaking to my neighbour who bought the Excel TS 2.0 around 6 months ago, he is only getting 48 mpg with his relatively short trips everywhere, which is putting me of it - he did go back to the garage but they checked it but mpg hasn't improved. But then I read about people saying the 1.8L lacks acceleration going up hills and over revs. I am definitely a person overtaking in the outside lane when climbing hills rather than sitting in the inside lane, although I stick to speed limits. Any honest views on what might suit my driving style - although I will obviously change that with a hybrid to some extent. When I went to the garage last week to look at a Yaris for my wife, I checked out both cars and preferred the smaller HB over the TS, although both look nice. I don't really need a very large boot anymore, but note that if I went for 2.0L the boot is tiny in HB because of the bigger battery, so would have to go for the 1.8L if I decide to get the HB. Got an appointment for this Saturday for VIP event, so am thinking of getting either 1.8 HB or 1.8/2.0 SW in either Design or Excel trim (probaby latter for leather seats, auto tailgate and bi-LED headlights and if get good offer from garage). Like Obsidian Blue and Denim Blue colours, but not seen them in the flesh yet. I know I tend to over think these things and probably research too much, but then I am a scientist! Are there people on here that have owned, driven and experienced both that can comment on how they perform. Or people who own a 1.8 HB or TS and dont regret buying that rather than the 2.0? I think I will test drive both if I can on Saturday or just the 1.8 to see how it handles. Sorry this is so long! But thanks if you got this far.

  26. The issue is that, to overcome daylight, the daytime running lights have to be bright. Of course when the headlights are turned on, the lights symbol in the instrument cluster illuminates - so that is one thing you can always check. Could also try turning down the brightness of the instrument lighting. With the sidelights on, push one of the DISP buttons. Push and hold one of the DISP buttons until the inxtrumet light control display (looks like a series of dashes) flashes. Pushing the righthand button increases brightness, and the left button decreases brightness. Turn off the sidelights to set the level. Must confess I've never had a problem with the brightness of the DRL's, nor remembering to turn the headlights on.

  29. Nothing to do with model year in your case, Toyota increased all model prices on the 8th, orders placed up to 7th are price protected. With a July ETA your car is a NCO ( non covered order ) so there is no matching stock either physical or in upcoming production so your car will be allocated a build slot in quarter 2 and definitely a MY22 spec model.

  30. I owned an Auris 1.8 hybrid 2016 model. I liked it alot. They are very good cars. Engine can get a bit revvy when pushed and going up hills but it has good power. Please check that your Auris has been regularly serviced and has the paperwork to prove it. As already mentioned if it's been looked after it will go on for many more years yet. Good luck.

  31. £385 for my renewal with Aviva. 42 years old (a very young Toyota driver 😇) with a 2.0 Corolla and I have class 1 business included. That's £35 up on last year's. Aviva have been a pleasant insurance company to deal with, notwithstanding that I haven't had any claims to negotiate etc. For example, when I changed cars a few months ago, it was a quick and simple online process to get my policy updated and no administration fees or any of that funny business. Haven't shopped around yet, but I'll be staying with Aviva if there's nothing much cheaper. 👍

Thanks for explaining the torque rather than power point, that helps me understand it better - I really am a complete virgin when it comes to hybrids! I am definitely about efficiency, saving on fuel and being better on the environemtn in terms of CO2 output, but also still wanting performance out of the car. It is looking like the the 2.0 ST is the way to go for me then. Then to decide if its worth upgrading the speakers and adding a sunroof!! Too many oiptions lol, but this will come down to the deal and my finances. Thanks for your help, you have all been very helpful.

  33. First 2. You can choose between a dial and a number, but not both at the same time. Ever since I had the option of a simple numeric display, that has always been my personal preference, on any vehicle. Makes it much easier to get accurate information with nothing more than a quick glance. On a motorcycle, it's a godsend, but very helpful for the car, too.

  36. Do you mean 32psi? Whatever you’ve set them at, you will need to reset system for it to register new setting. I always inflate to lower pressure (30psi), then reset system, then inflate to correct pressures (32psi). This way, you won’t get unwanted warnings if pressure drops by 2/3psi.

  37. It may well be the master cylinder, however the symptoms of the pedal going to the floor are the exact same as happened on our old Corolla (2003) back in 2013. It had had new front discs and pads fitted in the summer of that year and was fine for some weeks afterwards including a week in the Isle of Man where there were some serious brake testing descents. All was good until driving off the ferry when the pedal went to the floor. It happened intermittently on the journey home and the following day. I suspected a master cylinder and so did Toyota but when examined they apologised and said it was just a small airlock in the system and that occasionally and despite all the best efforts this can occasionally happen when brake work is done. That was 9 years ago and its been fine ever since. So yes, although it is symptomatic of a master cylinder issue it also may be something else.

  38. More than happy with soldering and/or wiring. Wiring diagrams I may need a little help to read but I think I can just about manage it for the most part. 🙂 By the trim with the mirror switch - the trim level she has doesn't have the window switch for sure but I will pop off the panel and look if the wiring is present. Good call actually - hadn't thought of that. I recently popped off the same panels to replace them with backlit buttons so I suspect the process is likely the similar. As for the other questions: The car has no automatic or powered mirrors at all - no switch to force them to close or similar - they're just manual ones (i.e. you can push them closed and pull them open but there's no switch to force this action to happen electronically nor automatically in this trim level.

  39. Years ago I have an ABS failure on my old Mk1 '98 plate Avensis. I did self diagnostics using the OBD paperclip trick, that pointed me to the ABS ECU. I replaced it with one from a scrapped car, that was a few years younger than mine. It was a bolt on and connection job, not touching the hydraulic side, so no bleeding necessary. The ABS worked immediately without needing to delete any codes, as none was stored. Hopefully this will give you some direction. Here is my original post.

  41. I agree with you, all that space make the whole system look outdated. I would understand if they offered on expensive trims larger screen but that fact they don't brings a question why they left so much space around this screen.

  42. This is my biggest criticism, the space around the screen now looks even bigger without the buttons. It really does look like it was designed at least 5 years ago. The whole unit could be made smaller and still have a bigger screen. I went with my parents to test drive the latest Honda Jazz recently, the screen they have put in that looks so much more modern.

  43. That’s pretty poor on a premium model, or any model for that matter. I’m sure Toyota and dealers will be wanting feedback on the bZ4X when it arrives. Make sure you test drive one and let them know your thoughts. Seating is very important to us , the boss has back problems, and getting comfortable is # 1 priority for her , either driving or as a passenger.

  44. If you use Chrome as the browser you can right click on your order tracking page, then click ‘Inspect’. When the new window opens you click the ‘Network’ tab, you may need to expand the window to see it. Now refresh the order tracking page and the data will populate in the new window. Find your order number in the list (there will be two entries, you want the second one) and click on this. You will see lots more info, each line can be expanded further. At the moment mine doesn’t give much more away but when the app shows more info at each stage and the map appears you should have an ETA at the dealer.
