  2. The vegan religion is the in thing so if you can get vegan into the description of your product you are on a winner. I have nothing against vegan living and being diabetic my diet is mainly plant based but what I can understand is why it must emulate non vegan foods, a vegan sausage roll....why?

  3. Leather in normal cars is vinyl, non wear areas sometimes have leather facing (thin leather over a fabric base) considering a hide is £150 up and a full car is a min of 6 hides, a Bentley will use up to 20 hides circa £800 each plus 2-300 hours in labour to make it plus fitting

  4. I've had these on the front for nearly three years, they are also coated and look like new. £62/pair is not to be sniffed at but I think I paid less than that. I have them paired with the same brand of pads which come with The Initial Performance Strip. £18 £80 for new discs and pads, a bargain.

  5. Yeah I believe Textar are the main supplier of optifit pads to Toyota in europe. They stopped the car okay, but compared to the OE Akebono ones I found them squeakier and much more dusty, so I was like why pay dealer prices for such pads when I could get similarly performing EBC or Brembo pads or even just get actual Textar or Pagid ones for less money. For jappy-built cars (back then at least), the standard brakes were usually Akebono or Sumitomo, but they're expensive as they ship from japan (I assume) Not actually sure what the Mk4 uses as standard (Can't even check because of the steel rims ), but will probably be on the car for a very long time if hybrid brake longevity is to be believed! I find EBC pads to be very gentle on the brake discs and give good stopping power when cold, but they do tend to wear faster. EBC brake discs are quite nice, but I always phone whoever I'm buying them from to make sure they give me the coated discs instead of backstock of uncoated discs. (The coated ones are great as you don't need to use degreaser on them before use, and the hubs don't start to rust anywhere near as quickly, whereas the uncoated discs have the usual layer of oil to stop them corroding, and you have to degrease them thoroughly, but then after a month the unprotected hubs and edges of the disc are all horrible and rusty.)

  7. That lead is what connects the Nav to the radio, the nav don't work without it TBH i don't use a mobile phone that often, i'm not glued to the phone like some - the nav does have its quirks Its not just the nav it adds a lot of functions to the DA and improved Bluetooth

  8. Hello Mark - welcome to Toyota Owners Club. Earlier engines built up to and including February 2009 could be affected by oil consumption and overheating/head gasket issues. Design changes largely solved these issues.

  12. At 11 years old I felt it was probably time to invest in a new battery. Although the old one showed no obvious signs in daily use of failing I had become aware that the Stop/Start rarely cut in. I had also done some 'unofficial' discharge tests on the old one such as turning headlights and heated window on and seeing how the voltage held up. The voltage seemed to head south pretty quickly hitting around 12 volts after just a minute or two and very quickly reaching the 11.8 region. It was OK like that for 10 to 15 minutes though in fairness. The original Exide battery gave no clues to its technology such as being AGM or EFB. I was amazed how prices varied and in the end settled for an Exide AGM type from Tayna. Without mention of exact prices I'll just say that Tayna's price inc delivery was still under three figures while Eurocarparts advertise the same battery at (gulp, can't quite believe this) well over three hundred pounds more. And that is on offer. The new battery is noticeably livelier turning over, very much so actually, and also the Stop /Start now works essentially all the time. Curious as to how 'bad' the old battery was I fully charged it (resting voltage after 72 hours was 12.87 volts) and then discharged it into a load drawing around 10 amps. The voltage instantly fell to 12.17 and fell consistently from then on. After two hours it was at 11.2 volts. I would estimate the capacity at around 18 to 25 Ah give or take but with a significant rise in internal resistance. So I think replacement was a sensible move and should probably have been done a little sooner. I've included some shots of the underside... 11 years old and essentially dry weather use only it has now covered 73k with no mechanical issues at all (besides the oil burning). Wiper rubbers are the originals. Tyres were replaced at around 43k and the Dunlop Blue Response Sports I chose are wearing really well. Maybe rotate in another twelve months and they should be good for 100k.

  15. One complication in all this is the fact that there are many variations in leather, the cheaper leather could even be bonded leather or reconstituted leather which is just scraps of leather glued together to form a sheet. Which animal the leather comes from also makes a difference as does the processes used to treat the leather. In addition leather has a few disadvantages when compared with cloth, it gets a lot hotter on sunny days and you slide around a lot more on leather seats. End result, it is a very personal decision but I doubt I would order a car with a leather interior unless and had seen and driven in a similar car first.

Try beadles in Maidstone, leave the Jemca group well alone the parts guys are great, the rest of this outfit is majorly poor at best Vauxhall is now Peugeot Nissan is Renault Dacia is Renault Mini is PSA and BMW Ford haven't got a clue Suzuki is Chrysler/FIAT From what im seeing toyota standards have dropped in the last few years especially in build and QC

  18. So after arranging everything to ensure I would be in for a Sunday delivery I woke this morning to find another email saying the cover would be arriving today. I managed to rearrange most things, or at least enough to ensure I would be in for the delivery. That behind me, I have to say my first impression of the cover is good. The clips for the straps are each in an individual pocket along the edge of the cover. The cover fits well with a strap pockets sitting behind the rear wheel, in the middle and in front of the front wheels, There is hole fitted with a rubber grommet to take a security cable that is also provided. The cover is fairly light but ideally needs two people to cover the car as otherwise the cover slips everywhere on a clean car. Yet to see if this is any better in freezing weather and if it is really waterproof but first signs are good at least.

  19. Agreed, the police set it as a low priority unless someone gets hurt, a farmer comes out with a shot pew, pew and does some damage then it's national news Anyway, i digress

  20. The A/F sensor (aka Lambda or o2 sensor) is pre cat, fuel pressure is all ECU controlled, if the o2 is stuck rich it will make the engine run very lean I would only use Denso or Bosch o2 sensors - they are not cheap but will last, (Denso DOX-0269) location wise it's in the top of the cat on the right-hand side just below the top heat shield as you look at the engine, you cant miss it its the only thing with wiring going to it, on the top of the exhaust

  21. Yeah that's a fairly typical attitude with London police too - Unless you're literally being murdered or cycling on the pavement they don't give a toss. I've seen people blatantly drive through red lights in front of a patrol car. It's like, unless you can hand the perp to them on a platter with air tight evidence so they don't have to do any work, they're not interested. To be fair I don't blame them completely; The force in London has been decimated by government and KHAAAAN!! (Yes, the mayor that just keeps giving!) and they've been cut to the bone. Since he's been in power the majority of police stations in the capital have been closed down (Except in the rich areas obviously), so they're having to prioritize only the most serious crimes, and whatever flavour-of-the-month pet crimes the higher ups went to target (e.g. scooters and mobile phones, but not speeding or the afore mentioned redlight jumpers). Theft is rife as it's not a high priority - Not just cars but houses too - and gets trumped by all the violent and knife crimes. I sometimes feel it's amazing the mafia or something hasn't tried to take over, because it has that vibe some days!

  22. That would more likely be Toyota Finance, not the dealer. The dealer acts as an agent for Toyota Finance, or am I missing something ?

  26. To be fair the GR Sport H/B does have auto-lock - once i start driving the doors all click locked. Yes the T/S has an extra USB in the Centre Console but the H/B doesn't although a blanking plate there for it. And none for back-seat passengers (not that there is much room anyhow). TPMS is certainly one that they need to update to show each individual tyre pressure - although I hope that when it does alarm to say a tyre is low it tells you which (I can only hope)? I'm the only one going to be in it for 94% of time for work - only 3 of us when off on holiday or to visit family, etc.

  27. Oh by the way...the police don't wanna know at all, they say there is "no line of enquiry" they can follow. I made my own enquiries and turns out one of the other units CCTV was recording that night, and they may have the footage. I told the police this and they said if it's not showing them directly and clearly taking the catalytic converter then the footage is useless! To which I said my work colleague saw them pulling away at speed in a small white car with no lights on (so he couldn't get registration), if the CCTV footage shows a small white car speeding off with no lights on...THAT'LL BE THEM!! and you may be able to obtain the registration on the infrared night vision the cameras have, and might glimpse driver and passengers if any! My friend who is in the police is disgusted by their attitude, and reckons I should make a complaint.

  28. Update on the cat situation, she's repairable thank god as the nice thieves made a very clean cut, so it's just a new cat and fixings, oh how nice of them! 🤨 I'm not going through insurance as my no claims ain't protected and it'll push my policy RIGHT up!! Downside is that there is no aftermarket cat for my Avensis T27, so its gotta comes directly from Toyota and is an original, so costs a packet! On the plus side I'm gonna have a very nifty security system installed when she is fixed, and any future thief will have quite a shock if they try and steal the cat again! 😉

  30. haven't checked the config for a few weeks, but the current lead time today at least, for the GR TS 2.0 in Obsidian Blue is 10 weeks! My current estimate is the 23rd June, but haven't had an update for about a month, so that could be on track!

  31. I’ve found the problem. Removed interior plastic trims along with the rear seats and got the hosepipe out spraying the roof. Drips started to appear on the rear C- pillar, drop down near to the rear seatbelt and run along onto the floor pan next to the wiring harness. I have removed the exterior black plastic gutter trim carefully and sealed the seam that it covers with seam sealer. Then refitted the trim. Tested with hosepipe again once the sealer has dried. This has stopped the water ingress. Hope that this helps others if the same should happen to their cars. 🙂👍

  35. I paid a £500 deposit using my credit card, however the dealers required the balance to be paid using a debit card due to the fees involved. There were no identity checks as this was the 8th vehicle that our family had bought from the dealer, in fact the same salesman. He always smiles when we walk in......

  42. The problem is they are wider (More air resistance) and also have much more inertia - Most of the mass of a rim is concentrated on the edge, not the centre, and the bigger the rim, the further that mass is from the centre, so the harder it is for the engine/motor to turn, which means more energy has to be used every time the car accelerates. It's one of the reasons I was surprised F1 cars went with such big rims this season, as it will dampen their acceleration, like putting on a bigger flywheel!

  44. The HUD is why I chose the GRSport over the Excel, had the Excel also got a HUD I would've chosen that. 10in colour and lots of info on it, I've used it on my 1.8 GRSport for 2 years but now will be getting the 2.0 hopefully by April. The adaptive cruze control is really useful in the motorway, just a shame no blind spot monitoring. I hope toyota add some useful features to connected services like being able to activate heating or cooling before going to the vehicle

  45. If you do not have the new type keys you could purchase some of the holders that blocked the signal, I used such an item on my last car and they do work. Have you looked for a manual in the user manual section on the MyT app? The reason I ask is because I have recently purchased an Aygo (from Swindon coincidently) and like you the multimedia system in the owners hand book is nothing like the unit I have but there is a separate multimedia manual in the downloads section that seems to cover the unit well.

  47. As regards specifications, each Toyota importer decides on the spec they sell in their market area. So there will be difference re which models are offered with sat nav, etc. Presumably from the OP's profile, they have a MY2021 Corolla, so presumably the older spec Touch 2 (MM19). As regards whether the car is expensive - it is priced according to the market (eg. The base VW Golf Estate costs from £25K) - gone are the days when medium sized cars are below £20K.

  48. Is it an intermittent fault - ie has the squeaking occurred when the dealer has had the car for investigation?? Has the dealer actually had the car booked in for investigation? If the fault isn't present when the dealer has the car, and there are no fault codes or similar showing, then the dealer cannot deal with a supposed fault. Please clarify.
