  1. Yes it's exempt like most petrol cars so you can just drive in to the ULEZ, no need to register or anything. I just stick my fingers up at the cameras as I cross the A406 as my way of registering.

  2. It depends on what way you're coming into London M1 - M25 - M11 - A12 - Blackwall tunnel, Bottom of the M11 to the o2 can take up to 2 hours on a Friday night No issue with ULEZ, You're well outside the CC zone - hope you pre-paid for parking, even so on a busy night it can take an hour or more to get parked at the o2

  3. Many of those people who works at Toyota head office or at any dealers knows nothing about cars, how they are built, how they work, how they needs to be maintained etc. even those who build them often knows nothing too, they just follow instructions and that’s all. When something goes wrong and you ask a question you may find more helpful and true information from car enthusiasts here or any other place other than from Toyota people themselves. They only represent the brand in one way or the other and often will save the true because of a legal purpose or simply because have no idea what they had been asked or does not have a straight answer. This is a good reason at least to me to not bother and move on. One person won’t change a multi billion business operating worldwide. I like that you complain about these issues and I am positive that Toyota people also read this forum thoroughly. , so let say Hi 👋 to them 👌

  4. That’s right . These tyres like you have included are touring tyres and they also different from the ultra high performance tyres like Pilot sport and the rest. They are softer , quieter and has longer life plus better fuel efficiency. These tyres are much more suitable for any Toyota hybrids than uhp tyres. 🛞👍

  5. On an Avensis with a more powerful engine they make more sense, and if you can get them with a nice price, so much the better. You may like the PS4's more. Mind you, Primacy 4 and Goodyear EG2 are not budget tyres... They're premium tyres. And they're very good tyres. Primacy 4, Goodyear EG2, Turanza 005 and Dunlop Sport Blue Response are my references. Right now, I mean to replace my current tyres with Goodyear EG2. Have you seen the videos Tyre Reviews post on YouTube? Great videos and very informative.

  9. Well I decided to rotate my tyres Goodyear efficient grip performance 2 today as I have done another 10k miles since refitted them for the season. Tyre wear is great, 5mm all around, thumbs up here. They are only 2.5 years old and covered 60000 miles, but unfortunately they will not live long and it will require change sooner than I expected. They had begun to dry road on the inner side walls and cracks are appearing. I had only one crack hair size which is not bad or dangerous, however this discolouration and the texture on the inner walls says it all. I had exact the same experience with Nexen winter tyres and I thought it was from poor quality, however tyres are not at fault at all. It’s all because of the salt on the motorways during winter. I am telling you, this is the biggest enemy to all cars been used on motorways, it’s unbelievable stupid idea to throw salt 6 months a year in county with mild climate, temperatures 6C° and the gritters are out and about. Never seen that in any other country. 👎🙅🏻‍♂️🚫 Here is why in USA Toyotas can last 300k + miles with only simple service, but in UK they can not ! Anyway here we go some pictures. The red circle is to show you how a puncture repair with those temporary strips can hold on in time and miles, done that second day after were fitted new back in 2020🤒

  11. Thanks. I got two shocks Sachs ordered too. I will be working on my drive way and the car will be lifted on jack stands both sides and I will use the hydraulic jack to play with the torsion beam, working one side at the time. It should be an ok job. Will take some pictures. Perhaps next weekend. 👍

  12. Happy to say I managed to get my order amended – although not without some perseverance on my part, so absolutely it can be done, seemingly without that much effort. Now it’s just the long, long wait for my Cross Excel!

  13. I usually just buy all things that we may need. It saves time and if we do not need it we can return it within 30 days in most online stores like Autodoc. Just use Paypal and you have 10 returns per year for free by Paypal. KYB shocks and springs are great and very close to Toyota Parts quality since it is indeed OEM supplier. I found KYB piston quality is better than Gabriel or Monroe for similar price. Bilstein is also really good. Shock takes only 1 hour, spring can take few hours because you really need a good jack and lift. It is really hard and dangerous without lift and tall jack that usually use to support engine or transmission. Shock is relatively cheap, I found it is about €20 each from TRW which is ZF group that also makes Sachs shocks. TRW is also OEM for BMW and they are good.

  14. I have the mudguards. They are not massive, but will help and look good . You mention the rear seat protector, is that the set that covers the metal part of the rear seats ? If so, how much did they cost ?

  15. My partner has the Aygo X Edge manual in cardamom green with canvas roof - she loves it. Handles very well, much better drive than the Mk2 aygo - quieter, more refined and better handling and lots of kit. She's getting 55-61 MPG mix of rural and town driving (not hypermiling). She's not fussed on the lane keep assist and she doesn't like the high clutch but that is common on a manual Aygo. I've fitted a wireless CarPlay dongle, MagSafe wireless charger (wired CarPlay is standard on this version), boot protector and rear seat protector. I'm thinking about getting a mudguard set for the winter but not sure if they make much difference.

  16. For sure, I (we) are enjoying it. Very economical, comfortable and plenty of toys to play with and super easy to drive. Takes a bit of getting used to driving a smaller car. It does have restricted viewing at the rear due to the wide pillars. But the rear view camera and all round parking sensors help a lot. I don't like the rear view camera guide lines. I'd prefer if the outer blue lines indicated the edge of the kerb, but the outer blue lines overlap the kerb on both sides, but I suppose I'll get used to it, but I'd prefer no guidelines at all in this particular case. I'm getting used to the colour, chili red which is not red at all, but luckily, I like the colour. The large 9" screen is great with Google Maps. Waiting for the car to be broken in properly and settle down, so I can get a better idea of mpg, currently showing 47mpg.

  17. If it only does it at certain steering angles and while moving, most likely the brake heat-shield - They turn into a rust doiley quite quickly and tend to get bent easily so they rub against stuff. If it does it even when stationary, most likely the AVAS (I like to describe it as sounding like a space ship that is moving with its handbrake stuck on )

  18. It must be a very early mk3 built late 2012, early 2013 that doesn't have the jump terminal (aqua/prius C has the same setup with/without the jump terminal) https://priuschat.com/threads/jump-terminals-on-a-2013-prius-c-under-the-hood-there-or-not.124896/ you can swap the module if so desired

  19. I have had a lot of different sizes and shapes of car and the common theme is that I quickly get used to the pros and cons of the driving position. The Corolla is not low enough to make you feel small on the road, it’s not a tiny sports car. If anything I’d say it’s the right size for UK roads.

  25. I had the same issue on my Mercedes Citan (a re-badged and re-engineered Renault Kangoo). I had the door seals replaced twice under warranty (the double-sided tape did not like heat, i.e. the sun) and then gave up and bought some double-sided tape for automotive use - that fixed it 😒

  26. Thanks, Tony. I'm afraid you're right, it's the lack of knowledge about the build of a car that i'm finding difficult to understand and why the spec is different on the underside on the 1.8 GR sport only

  27. That happened to me once, but it must be nearly 30 years ago, I didnt do the bolts up tight enough on my Marina, couldn't figure out why it clanged when I changed direction, until I got out and saw the front wheel at an angle 🤣

  28. Thanks. The thing is with my car that I have no time or stop it and carry on any works that are non urgent( breakdown that eventually may keep the car off the road). Plus the car is too old and with a bit of miles on. The car has a lots of paintwork issues throughout the bodywork, some surface rust underneath and on suspension parts etc, a think it’s a bit too late to try to preserve it. I made my decision to keep driving it and continue to maintain major components and keep it up in good shape but I am not planning to pay attention to try to stop or preserve rust any further until it becomes mot failure and then will carry on minor repairs or simply scrap it and move on. For now this car is a hero and it keeps going strong with only few exceptions 🚗🏁👌

  29. To be honest, I think any other Corolla will be built to the same standard. Yes, an Excel will have a different windscreen etc., but it is essentially (only) a different equipment level. So changing the model or the brand is probably your best option for peace of mind. Although I fully understand that this is not straightforward and does involve an extra cost.

  33. It is in decent shape although some of the coating/paint are gone on the spring. I am not from snowy are and have no clue how bad when we need to replace spring from rust. In my opinion, changing rear spring is very dangerous job without proper equipments and safety measure. I will just keep driving it because of pretty hefty price to replace them as long as it has no structural damage. Rubber cracks are normal as long as the metal does not grind each other. Sand, and coat it with Zn-anodized paint primer, and spray enamel durable black paint on the under body that has been cleaned and sanded really well.

  37. When I price them for my Avensis, there’s a few £ difference so I’ll probably go for the PS4 or PS5’s. Only thing is the Primacy has A rating for both rain and fuel. Think PS’s sacrifice some fuel economy for the cornering. I’ve budget tyres on since I got the car in Jan. surprisingly they’re a good enough job. Might just be the car itself handles better. But either way I really want to see what the PS4’s are like. If not worth it I’ll probably go primacy. at this price you can pretty much buy any other brand. I’ve heard some good stuff about Good Year and Dunlop’s competing tyres but one common remark on all the reviews seems to be that the Michelins last long and they perform near as good as always until they get wore down to the legal limit

I have in stock blueprint bushes and Firstline bar links for the front, I haven’t installed them yet as the oem ones are still in good shape. Likely soon I may need to replace as the car is passing 214k miles. Meile, lemforder, are only names and not the best quality too. If you want the Best Buy original Toyota ones from a dealer.

  42. I suspect this is a software glitch as you left it for a while a switched it back on it effectively rebooted. I have a LEVC electric/ range extender taxi basically it’s a Volvo XC90 and software glitches are common place, we simply lock the vehicle leave it about a minute for the system to power down then restart, this cures 99% of any issues.

  43. Do you guys know what mode your car is in when preconditioning etc.? I can't see any need for the PHEV to charge the auxiliary battery while charging normally - the HEV obviously doesn't, and not doing so doesn't cause any real problem. There's an awful lot of paranoia about! But, obviously, if the car is set to a 'mode' where it places an additional load on the 12v system then it would be 'madness' not to keep the 12v battery topped up (else you could get into the situation where the car is nice and warm but won't go into Ready mode!) But we've got into topic drift here - while there is an "auxiliary battery capacity" issue of the RAv4 hybrid (plugin or not) it is not a good hypothesis as an explanation for the experience Nick reported at the start of this thread. It isn't supported by any of the reported facts, and is actively contradicted by the level of recent use and the simple fact that the car goes happily into Ready mode. A better hypothesis might be that the 'car' got confused by the shift pattern between Drive and Reverse and what it wanted to do with the ICE and hybrid drivetrain - so it sulked and refused to play in order to protect the transmission / drivetrain. And then in keeping with many good software faults, switching off, counting ten slowly and starting again resolved the confusion making everything right again. That at least appears to fit the reported facts - but it's only an alternative hypothesis (aka 'plausible' guess).

  48. There are two Bluetooth modules, one in the head unit ( Display screen incl radio/cd ) & another in the navigation module ( bolted to bottom of head unit SEE) as you have navigation fitted the navigation module will be handling Bluetooth and it appears to be faulting. First step would be to disconnect the navigation module, disconnect the battery to reset the head unit, If the Bluetooth does not work the head unit is faulty If he Bluetooth now functions re -connect the nav, disconnect 12v battery and try Bluetooth again if it does not function then the navigation is faulty. Both units have separate software updates; The navigation module updates are tied with map updates and yours is a very long way behind the latest version being 6.16.0, To update these you can either purchase the update via MyToyota or through your dealer, here is a list of fixes since your version: Additional phenomena reported since software release version 6.7.0, 6.8.0, 6.8.1, 6.8.2, 6.9.0, 6.10.0, 6.11.0 and solved in 6.12.0 L/H. Improved voice instruction in Czech language by improved grammar and vocabulary. When a phone call is made using the phone controls instead of the steering wheel controls or the soft keys on the display the navigation screen blacks out when the front camera switches on. For more details see TSB BE-0064T-TME Additional phenomena reported since software release version 6.7.0, 6.8.0, 6.8.1, 6.8.2, 6.9.0, 6.10.0 and solved in 6.11.0 L/H. In software release 6.10.0 the country information screen pops up after ignition on without crossing a border. Correction for spelling mistake in Danish (parkering was written as parkring). USB with music files is not recognized and no playback is possible. BT function is sometimes not working after ignition on. Next ignition cycle BT is working again. Additional phenomena reported since software release version 6.7.0, 6.8.0, 6.8.1, 6.8.2, 6.9.0 and solved in 6.10.0 L/H. No audible warning beep anymore when approaching a speed camera The country information screen pops up even when driving in the country without passing a border. Czech language voice guidance improvements. Reset during updating the map database. After inputting a destination (> 150 Km), the system freezes (only in 6.9.0). At low speeds (front camera is on) and while using hands free, the display blacks out. Additional phenomena reported since software release version 4.5.0, 6.6.0, 6.7.0, 6.8.0, 6.8.1 and solved in 6.9.0H. In release 4.5.0, after pressing F, France is not listed in the country list and when pressing the map button, the system resets. Letters specific to the Polish alphabet are not or improper displayed when listening to DAB radio stations. Letters specific to the Icelandic alphabet can't be selected. Copy / update algorithm is improved to improve update stability. In release 6.7.0 the DAB radio text is briefly displayed, then disappears. In release 6.7.0 the DAB radio text of another station is displayed. In release 6.7.0 the screen blacks out after ignition on after previously a USB stick was inserted. This phenomenon is present on vehicles with F-ten display audio only (Hilux, C-HR, Yaris). In release 6.7.0 continuous beeps can be heard when approaching a speed camera. The last played music track is not retained when playing music using an I-pod. Phenomena reported since software release version 6.6.0H, 6.7.0H, 6.8.0H, 6.8.1H and solved in 6.8.2H. Playback of music on USB media stops a few minutes after ignition on. Track up / down function is not working during music playback from a USB medium. Mirai only: Image of the rear view camera is displayed when shift lever is in drive ("D"). Note: The listed phenomena are only occurring on the high version of the navigation software. For "low" version, 6.8.1L remains the latest released software version. Phenomena reported since software release version 6.7.0 and solved in 6.8.0 New set of voice guidance instruction in the following languages: German and French Long city names can't be inputted because the text field to input city names is too small for the captioned city. Wrong pronunciation in Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Romanian of the voice guidance command: "Please proceed to the highlighted route" The audio is playing (normal condition) but on the screen it is mentioned: "Audio off" Sending BT audio streaming commands to an I-phone via the steering wheel commands is not functional. Improved installation stability via official USB media to avoid map update failures. Phenomena reported since software release version 4.3.0 / 4.3.1 and solved in 4.4.1 In Danish the warning message for internet roaming is displaying a mix up of Danish and English words. Language specific characters for Danish language included. In Portuguese 800 meter is pronounced as 200 meters. Improvement of street name pronunciation in Switzerland. Impossible to register extension box on customer portal because of wrongly device ID. Display blacks out after ending phone call while shifting out of reverse.
