  1. Absolutely. Rav4 is ultra popular suv in eastern countries like Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, and others countries around where usually stolen cars from Western Europe and around the world finds their place for a second life. Yaris is of no interest and no one actually cares about these little motors. Only local thieves help themselves with body panels , wheels, bumpers etc to use on accident repairs, Yaris like most other small cars are subjected to accidents and been bought after for repairs by young people and mechanics.

  2. Alright I was able to get in the garage and fix it. It was the grounding was causing the ignition coil to not spark or start the car. Grab some wires and splice where the ground wires was brittle and broke off. Solder new wires for a four ground wires and clamp it with some new lugs blot the ground wires back on and it started right up. Not only it started right up the multiple misfiring also went away. no check engine light. Car drives flawless now.

  3. On LTA, get in the habit using the indicators. This handy gadget performs two functions, it warns other road users that you are intentionally avoiding or aiming at them. Another possibly unknown effect is to mute the LTA and even stops trying to pull you back. I haven't tried driving with the right indicator permanently on to see of it permanently mutes the LTA as the incessant clicking is annoying. ⁶

  4. A deposit should reflect the loss connected with you walking away from the transaction, whatever it is. If you wanted a car and the dealer had to pay for say transportation costs, then that is the loss and you should pay for it. In reality dealers will just want a deposit to show a commitment that you want to buy, they might have people interested in the car as well as you, and will pull it from sale based on a deposit. What you should ask is "If I don't like the car or change my mind, can I have my deposit back" Deposits are not typically refundable, but ask when paying it

  5. That’s the paradox and inconvenience of service your car in a dealers network. They offer a list of checks that most of these can and should have been done by the driver itself on daily, weekly or monthly basis., measure brake pads in mm just to write something on this paper and do walk around videos to prove themselves worthy but they don’t clean or change filters that are so important and the same time so easy to do it.

  6. Key fob goes to sleep on new cars now, so wouldn't depraved this feature on a new car. As mentioned, no market for stolen Yaris, they go for more expensive bigger model like RAV4 or even Chr now.

  8. There's enough information in the Highway code telling you how to detect what speed limit a road is likely to have, without any signs being present. It's not up to a non-public organisation to have speed limit signs up. The public road and highway code are not their cost or concern. Best not to distract your local MP with arbitrary side quests. Instead, get them to action things like the road conditions; pot holes, road works, parking issues....

The service activated warranty will not start with your third party service, it will have to be serviced at a Toyota dealer in order to activate it 1: Yes 2: The warranty is free, you just have to have the correct service at the Toyota dealer 3: It automatically gets registered when serviced at a Toyota dealer

  13. The night of the collision which demolished the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore, I was watching the film Final Destination 5, which I had recorded some while before on my TV box. Early in the film it shows a bridge in course of repairs by maintenance crews, and a passenger on a bus travelling across the bridge has a premonition of it starting to break up and collapse, and moments later it happens for real. Eerily, the film has a close resemblance to what happened with the Baltimore bridge, except that, thankfully, the Baltimore incident happened during the night. But what made me decide to watch the film on that particular night? As I said, Spooky!!!

  16. I more or less agree with you, Bob. Although I was brought up in the Christian Faith, I follow Christian principles but am an agnostic. Whilst I cannot myself claim to have experienced any significant “happenings”, members of my family have told of things which cannot be rationally explained. I don’t blaspheme or mock any of the religious faiths, but I do get uncomfortable if a pious person pushes their faith at me in a forceful manner that indicates I am expected to accept and believe everything they say. I have found that denying their faith only results in further dialogue of just how wrong I am, so I quietly let them ramble on until they run out of steam.

  19. Don, not a thing. If there had been a steady ingress over time, and with the bungs in place, I would have expected a lot more water. The towels and blankets we stow there were all dry. PS One of my E Class (the rusty class) had a bung each side at a low point and each a cross slit to allow water to dribble out. On was a bit blocked to I pressed it with a screw driver and the bung dropped out. Most of the paint dropped out too. There was no metal at all. The other side had a full size spare. When I checked that side had also rusted away. Two new panels were actually easy, and fairly cheap, to replace.

  23. We knew they were making losses on the GR Yaris - it was simply a cost of racing and homologation. They are now turning this into a viable business. I think the prices are realistic and means that they can support and cater for the customer segment that buys them. It is still one of a kind. There is nothing else out there like it. This just further cements its status as a future classic.

  27. Early in the life of the Toyota Safety System, Toyota fitted heater elements to the windscreen in front of the camera on some models to help alleviate condensation affecting the camera. Depending on the level of condensation though, the elements may not be sufficient to prevent heavy condensation build up affecting the camera.

  28. WOW ! Is the garage accepting that? The charges on £28500 are... Well it depends on how much the transaction fee is on your card but it's normally between 1.5% and 3%. Even if it was 1.5% best case scenario, the garage will be paying your bank £427. Everyone to their own, but if that was me, I'd be asking what about me giving you £28100 and I'll pay via bank transfer. £400 is better off in my pocket than my bank's. It's all coming out the same account anyway. More and more local cafe's around here have signs that say 'cash only' for that very reason. And that's me buying just a latte 🤣 Normally I'd recommend anyone looking to purchase cash, to investigate taking out a PCP then settling it within a few days but Toyota finance are a shower of bar-stewards. Unlike most other financial providers ( I've never com across any other that does ), they hide behind a near £600 processing fee for settlement. Out of interest I've just had a look at the Toyota website and the current PCP incentive is only £600 on the Yaris X so there's no gain whatsoever for cash purchasers to save anything buying their car using the PCP method at this moment in time. Hope you enjoy the car when it arrives 👍

  29. I sure as hell hope that they are a bit more active than that upon arrival, although my birds are a bit weird and you can sometimes find them sleeping on their belly or back. The first time i saw my female sleeping on her belly though, she scared the crap out of me, because i actually thought that something had happened to her!

  32. I am personally in no hurry to get there, but it needs to happen within 5 days, because there are certain requirements about importing my birds into the EU, in relation to their Export Health Certificates and Avian Influenza testing that will be carried out on them just before we leave. That being said, i intend to take my time, but not waste it, because i do have deadlines that i have to comply with. Thank you for your reply and advice! Your words make perfect sense, so i guess that i should stop panicking. I think that it might be best if i got the coolant drained and replaced, and i will purchase some for the road too, along with oil and windscreen liquid. Thank you for your reply and advice! My parrots are African Greys and they are rather used to travelling. They have never been on the road for so long though, so i understand that i need to be very cautious about them. I normally cover their cage with a black sheet, so they do not get scared by moving objects and i only let them have visibility in my direction, because me and my voice calms them down very easily. Thank you for your reply and advice! I have driven this route a few times and although i am aware that it is very long and tiring, i pretty much know to expect, so i am not that worried about myself. The only difference is that I have always done it in an SUV, so i would simply just drive non-stop for a couple of days, with several hours of sleep during the night, but i understand that i will have to approach this very differently. Thank you for your reply and great advice! I do have the factory tire repair kit, which i have never used, so i will most certainly look into it, as it is another great back-up option on the go! I already have everything in place to comply with the legal requirements of the EU countries that i will be passing through.

  33. Wait, what 1.2 are you lot talking about?? The only one I know of is the 8NR-FTS and that's turbocharged! It's way more powerful than the Mk3 Yaris hybrid's engine!! That said, if you like the size of the Yaris, try and get the Mk4 hybrid - On paper it's still only 1.5L, but in practise it's waaay more powerful than the Mk3

  40. Sorry for you and happy you got rid of the lemon. I personally had similar experience with another Toyota car, which I returned for refund on the very same day of collection just after 100 miles drive. Sometimes it’s simply a luck even when buying a brand new cars or devices. Another reason why I learned to keep my stuff for ever or until becomes beyond repair. Recently all my things with batteries started to misbehave and I am now refreshing my garage, started from the car with new hybrid battery installed, some devices change and looking into my phone battery replacement and a new power tools. Always describing myself as the most difficult things to change are shoes, cars and girlfriends. , you just never know what and how you will feel with the next pair of anything. 😉🫢

  42. In addition to carrying spare oil, water etc, I'd carry a tyre inflator and a basic tool kit. If you have any issues, you'll be able to fix them yourself and keep on the move rather than have to wait for a recovery. I've done my fair share of long distance driving in the UK and abroad. Make sure you comply with the legal requirements for any of the countries you're travelling through, e.g. France (high-vis jacket, spare bulbs etc). If you've owned your Aygo for 6 years, you'll be familiar with it's limitations and ability to do the journey. There is a video on a well known site where the owner took his Citroen 2CV to Croatia. The Aygo should be more than capable of making the journey provided it's been maintained correctly.

  46. Yes, it's obvious. It's just a demonstration that the car service will find that everything is OK during the measurement. They will say that the battery only needs to be recharged. But the battery is already in bad condition and needs to be replaced. Why else would the charger automatically start the "desulfation" program for a long time? Three years after buying a new car, the "desulfation" program started at 20 minutes, and now, after 3.5 years, it is already at 4 hours. I did not register this program on the chart before this time. I regularly drive 200-500 km/week, CTEK charging 1-2x/month, solar panel charging with regulation regularly in the summer when the car is not driven for more than 1 day. IMHO it's because the battery most of the time has a voltage << 12.3V and the sulphation process increases (applies to all modern cars with smart charging). Even though I did my best, I will change the battery after 3.5 years. My conclusion: Desulfation can only help maintain a battery’s condition. In the case of permanent sulfation, the process will improve the battery performance. But, it will not stop sulfation completely.

  47. I had a heated discussion with a Toyota Dealer about this very issue today. Told them very politely to go away, as I would never deal with them until they changed their attitude. My current dealer doesn't charge me a diagnostic fee. As a result, they get to service all the Toyotas in the family (my C-H, the Wife's Yaris, and my son's Aygo). They also get all my business when we replace our cars. Something the other dealer lost out on due to wanting me to pay a diagnostic fee. Which dealer is better off??

  50. Chas have you tried just charging it then see how long it will last until you charge it again. No problem changing battery first turn off what electric systems you can then let car go into sleep mode then donot open drivers door put car key in house. Disconnect negative lead first re connect last. Battery will stick when you push it back in you just have to lift it slightly at the back. When starting car for first time just start up in Acc position when systems load back in then you can start the car. Radio requires retuning plus phone shortcuts to set up. Phone numbers just load up from memory. Maybe a good idea to fit your own charging leads to the battery & a Bluetooth Battery Monitor via its own fuse.
