Avoid speeding tickets and drive more safely
E-Cruise DSL is the first system to read road signs using the existing cameras in the vehicle and to use the data to adjust the speed of the vehicle dynamically. Until now, dynamic speed control based on ADAS intelligent technology was available exclusively in the most expensive cars. Now, the system can be installed e.g. in a Toyota Yaris.
Lindgaard Pedersen A/S, a Danish company, has developed the first speed control add-on technology in the world. It uses the cameras in the vehicle to read road signs. The system, named E-Cruise DSL, is now being introduced to the European market.
Initially, the system is available for Toyota models with a Road Sign Assist camera.
Lars Kiel Jensen, Chief of Sales and Marketing with Lindgaard Pedersen A/S, explains that "we expect car dealers to offer E-Cruise DSL as an option, and mechanics may offer E-Cruise DSL as an add-on".
Dynamic speed limiting systems have never been available as an aftermarket option until now. Certain recent and expensive models come with a similar technology, for example Volvo XC90, Ford S-Max, and Audi Q5, but E-Cruise DSL is now available for all models with a road sign recognition camera.
E-Cruise DSL may be installed in a Toyota Yaris to give it the same functionality as the expensive models with original equipment.
Lars Kiel Jensen states that "we anticipate a high demand for E-Cruise DSL in that we offer a solution based on intelligent ADAS technology helping drivers stay below speed limits. In addition to the obvious benefits of reducing the number of accidents and speeding tickets, studies have shown that dynamic regulation of the speed of a vehicle reduces fuel consumption".
During 2018, Lindgaard Pedersen A/S will be introducing versions of E-Cruise DSL for several makes of cars.
New functionality will be included such as a dynamic speed limiter for adaptive cruise controls to ensure safe driving speeds and distances to the car up ahead.
E-Cruise DSL works with cruise control systems and includes a safety override.
The system costs approximately EUR 500,00 – 600,00 EUR including dealer installation.
