  1. Well, I took my both cars (Prius & BMW convertible) into the non-franchise garage today for MOT's. The service manager and one of the mechanic's had to come and get me as they couldn't figure out how to get it moving! That made my mind up if I had any doubts - off to Westover Toyota in Bournemouth for it's major service at 4 years and 31k miles.
  2. I suspect that Jesus isn't to bothered about the price!
  3. My £10 RFL is due next month - time to start saving then!
  4. Well, my Prius isn't dying! I drove from Bournemouth this morning out to Exbury in the New Forest to take a service in a Baptist church out there - a fabulous drive both ways and I averaged an indicated 70+mpg both ways. I've clocked 430 miles on this tank and it's still going..!! Can't quite believe it..!! And in the past I've had a Merc S320CDi and a Lexus GS430, yet love the Prii's all-round abilities.

  6. Yep, mine's shot up again this week, with a few longer journey's (30 miles) plus the warmer weather: one return trip from Southampton to Bournemouth saw an average of 71.2mpg and I wasn't trying hard either! Even corrected that's still going to be pretty impressive! Bit better than my V8 Lexus which was rarely above 18mpg..!! Gulp!
  7. Just put a set of Michelin Energy Savers on mine. Bought new on eBay and had them fitted locally, so not bad value.
  8. Sounds like the wheels and brakes operating regeneratively to me - just as they should! Don't worry your car is working perfectly, but if you're worried get it checked out for peace of mind!
  9. Yep, 4 yrs old on 31st March with just 30300 miles on. But back to the original question: any reason to be worried about quality non-franchise servicing on the Prius?
  10. That's significant! My guess is that its going to be filthy as the last owner lived under a load of trees. Every rain channel was totally clogged with rotting vegetation. Mine's the same age, spec and mileage as yours cap'n - had it 6 weeks now and absolutely loving it!
  11. I'm just about to book my 07 Prius in for it's 4 year service and am wondering whether to use my regular non-franchise garage (very high standard and trustworthy) or go to Toyota where it's been done by the previous owner. The local guys have been servicing my Lexus and my wife's BMW without fault and have all the diagnostic kit. Does anyone have any experience of using independents with the Prius? Advice welcome!
  12. 2.2 diesel Honda is a lovely engine (swift, smooth and very quiet) but its economy can be very disappointing. I had it in the admittedly bigger Accord, but rarely saw more than 38-40mpg out of a tank. Early days in my Prius (07 T Spirit) but no complaints so far. Bit worried about the snow though - the traction control is rather heavy handed and totally cuts power when exiting a slippery junction.
  13. Bring on the summer then! BTW, thanks Grumpy Cabbie for your input on the site - very valuable and often quite amusing!
  14. Have just completed my first four weeks in my 07 Prius T-Spirit, I'm truly astonished at the difference the warmer weather has made to the driving experience and economy. My MPG has got much better and the the engine is switching off much more often and more smoothly. Anyone else experiencing similar improvements? One month in and I'm loving it, even after 3 years driving a V8 Lexus GS430.
