  2. Hi All I have a Landcruiser LC5 Diesel with 1KD-FTV engine. 8000Miles done. Occasionally I see lot of white smoke blowing with the DPF filter is regenerating on low revs. I am looking for some advice on this: 1. Is this normal? I Doubt actually. 2. I did a service recently. Is the engine oil anything to do with it? Regards Nana
  3. Hi All I have got a LC 5 (KDJ 150) with ABS etc. I got this as an upgrade to a my old Prado. One thing I notice is the temperature on the tires (Centre of the rim/Wheel hub). It is very high compared to the previous model. After a run of about 50KMs I cannot touch the brake disk. It is very hot. Temperature on the tires are about 40-45C. Almost all the tires are having the same temperature, rear is a bit high. Are there any tips to know whether the brakes are bind/locked before it starts smoking on a long run? My brakes are working good. Hand brakes also apply very well. Just playing safe because I want to avoid a disaster after an off road. Regards Nana
  4. Dear members I noticed a degrading problem when I crank the engine (1KZ turbo) in the mornings and when ever it is cold. It starts with a delay or a couple of miss fires, sometimes one the second crank. Occasionally everything is smooth and it starts like a brand new engine. The problem occasionally came about 3 months back. Now it is very habitual. There is no engine power drop or smoke issue when it is running. No check lights. The diesel filter is about 25,000KM old. Air filter is about 8000KM old. Engine performance is in very good shape. Batteries are new. I am worried about a this and looking for a clue before opening it up. Am I in for something big here? Can someone share an experience and give a clue? Regards Nana
  5. Hi Everyone My 1KZ-TE Auto does not rev more than 3000RPM. The ICU check bulb is on. I have checked the turbo and it is fine and Air filter is new. I am wondering whether this is the throttle or the pump... Can someone provide good info to fix this problem? How do I know which one to open up? Any help is appreciated. Regards Arjuna
  6. Hello friends I want to start a important discussion and see how knowledge can be shared. Has anyone converted a 1kzte (Turbo EFI version) engine to run on Waste Vegitable Oil (WVO) or Virgin Vegetable Oil (VVO) dual tank or single tank system? Since the engine is non direct injection it is a super candidate to convert. 1. If someone has experience in this please share as much details since I am about to make a conversion. Particualry interested in WVO and home made biodiesel. 2. If there are problems in running please share experiences. I already know about the temperature issues but are there any other issues to worry on the fuel system. 3. If there is a tried and tested DIY conversion please recommend. I have already done lot of research and there is doubt which on to go with Toyota. Regards Arjuna

  8. I own a LC Prado KZJ95 with 1KZ TE 3.0 turbo diesel engine 115000 KMs. The engine has good power but it occasionally gives white/blue smoke on quick pickup. I know it is an oil burn problem because it consumes about 1.5L for 5000Kms. My mechanic says that we need to replace the oil rings and there is no need for a complete overhaul. He does not suspect any turbo bearing leak. I doubt the EGR since blocking that off did not reduce smoke or oil consumption. I am wondering about the following and need some second opinion from members who got similar experience... Is this good advice to replace the rings - should I not go for an overhaul? How do I know that it is not the Turbo that is leaking oil to breather? Any feedback is appreciated. Regards AN .
