  1. The number plate bulbs for your model are different to the interior bulb, number 207 5 watt bayonet fitting. Make sure you spend extra with LED bulbs and buy good ones as I've been through a few cheap pairs that fade after a handful of hours' use. It looks like something like this would be suitable: http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/207-5W-led-bulbs/?bulb_search=&end=front
  2. Acccording to Google the interior light for the T25 is a 239, 5 watt, 38 mm size like this: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CEMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.halfords.com%2Fwebapp%2Fwcs%2Fstores%2Fservlet%2Fproduct_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_215170_langId_-1_categoryId_165538&ei=8hYaUofPGIWH0AX9oIHACQ&usg=AFQjCNE1f43TPr4jyjl_0I3l1UfMfLiouw&bvm=bv.51156542,d.d2k
  3. If it's a T22 (Mk1) Avensis, the interior bulb is a 269 fitting (30mm festoon). Personally I tried a white LED bulb but didn't like the bright, cold light that it cast over the cabin!
  4. The MK1 Avensis uses OBD1, unlike most cars produced since 1996 which use OBD2, could that be something to do with it? I forget the exact procedure for reading the fault codes but two of the pins on the OBD socket must be shorted using a piece of wire and the dash warning lights will flash to represent fault codes stored in the computer. Hopefully someone else will chime in with it!
  5. On the note of cambelt changes on the 7A-FE, mine was last changed in 2006 and has done 22,000 miles since then - should I be thinking about changing it? I know the belt snapping on this engine isn't a disaster like most would be, but don't know how much longer I can put it off!
  6. Pressing the button switches between the total and trip odometers. Pressing and holding down the button gradually changes the brightness of the instrumentation and is marked on the odometer display as it changes.
  7. What colour is it? I'm on the lookout for some parts and may also be coming to Kent in the next month or so,
  8. Pretty simple, there's a gap directly behind the headlight in which is a tab that holds the indicator unit in. Insert a long flat-bladed screwdriver and push on the tab gently whilst pulling out on the indicator and it should pop out. Twist the bulb holder to remove the bulb and swap in your new unit. Hope that helps!

    My Avensis

Snap! The next job with mine is to get hold of the facelifted SR front end and spoiler. I have seen one or two Avensis' with the black plastic parts sprayed silver and it looks great - anyone else thinking about it?

  11. There aren't any screws/fixings to hold the indicator in, except one of the fins should have an L-shaped end that slots into a catch on the car - sorry I can't explain it much better than that! Compare with the indicator on the other side, it can be removed by inserting a long flat-bladed screwdriver into the hole directly behind the headlight and pressing down on the retaining catch
  12. Hi, Sounds like we've got the same car! I've also got a T-reg SE with the same sidelights and dipped bulbs and sony stereo! Is yours silver by any chance? As for your questions, I don't know about the key in the door physically (damaged lock?). As for the remote locking, a few weeks ago I was fudging around trying to fit an LED interior bulb (as you were!) when I managed to make it stop working, along with the remote locking and dashboard clock. It turns out these three share one fuse and in trying to fit the bulb I had shorted it to the metal of the roof and shorted it, blowing the fuse. The fuse in question is in the under-bonnet fuse box to the right hand side of the battery. From memory the fusebox 'map' is on the underside of the lid and this one is marked 'DOME' and is a brown 7.5A blade fuse. Hope this helps! Richard :)
  13. I've had a quick search of this forum but can't find any direct references. I'm hunting eBay for a 'spoilered' version of the tailgate on my 99 Avensis Hatch in silver, preferably one from the later 00-02 model, with the chrome boot release button. Just wondering if anyone's done a swap, and how difficult a job it is. Cheers guys!
  14. Hi, The strangest thing - I was just about to post this same question! I know that the map reading lights aren't designed to light when the doors are opened, but I was going to post and ask if there's a way for them to be wired up. I've had a look at the Haynes manual wiring diagrams but I'm not so good when it comes to car electrics! Anyone managed to do this?
  15. How are you getting on with the new tailgate rubbers, has it fixed the rattling problem?
