Help! Both Rear Side Lights Gone At Same Time!

Hi guys. The fuse that does the rear tail lights (these are the ones not working) also does number plate light and some others (number plate light is working). Having panicked thinking it was a wiring problem I posted on here in haste. When I got home I pulled both bulbs out and they are both blown. I just think it's so odd that two would go. But as aceshigh84 said it could be that one went and I didn't realise and then the other one went. Just seems odd to me. I've just popped into my local blitz autobitz and bought some bulbs so when I get home I'll put these in and see if it works. However, I would like to say, thank you very much to the people who have helped me! I'll update this with the results
  2. I was driving in london around a couple of hours ago and a very nice cabbie pulled me over and told me that I have no rear lights on. So I pulled over to check this. 2 Brake lights, upper break light, reverse light, fog light and indicators are all working just no side lights. Has anyone ever come across this? Can anyone give me some pointers? I think to be honest with all of the problems I have had with this car (Blown head gasket (replaced by toyota under warranty), sun roof not opening and closing properly, leaks, condensation problems, Squeaky drivers seat, CONSTANT RATTLES!!!) I think it is the worst built car I have ever driven! Its only an 07 plate! I'm pulling my hair out! please help!!

    Installing Sound System

Thanks for the advice guys. I have decided to just simplify things and gone ahead and got a cheap single DIN head unit £50 and a fascia for £14. With not being an electrician and having just the right amount of knowledge needed to wire in a simpler system it seems like a safer, easier option for me. Thanks again guys!! Chris

    Introducing My Auris!

Hi Speed Chaser! Just wondering how you would install a system (1x Amp, 1x Sub and maybe 6x9's) into the stock stereo/satnav unit. I have been informed i will need a high-low converter as the stock unit comes with an amp built in but can't work out what to connect where etc. Here is a link to some pictures of the unit - http://www.varaosahaku.fi/?link=item&post_id=29874556 Thanks dude! Installing Sound System

Hi mate. Thanks for your reply!! Yes i would like to wire straight into the head unit. Im just wondering if using the converter I would loose any function of the unit e.g radio or sat nav etc. Im no electrician lol. I have attatched a link to a picture of the rear of the unit so you know which one I am talking about as they differ with the different models of auris. http://www.varaosahaku.fi/?link=item&post_id=29874556 Thanks Chris

    Introducing My Auris!

Good job on the boot light mate! As for color coding the rear wiper its merely a personal choice but I think that may work on a silver car. I'm not that knowledgeable with mods as my auris is pretty much the first car I've decided to tweak the look. If it looks taccy then you can always spray it back to black?

Pink Coolant And Rusting Bonnet Catch

Where have you been, Mars? It is the most talked about thing on this forum and the internet in general. Hardly keeping it secret is it? ;) Kingo If you actually read my post properly it said "They aren't too keen on publishing"...... "They" being the key word. I hardly think toyota head gaskets are "the most talked about thing on the internet in general" either. Sorry to point out your ignorance but if you weren't so rude I wouldn't have felt the need! Perhaps I'm being a little obtuse but who are you referring to when you say "They"? A quick search here for "diesel head gaskets" produces ten pages of response. That's a lot in my book. Why so angry? Kingo has been a very helpful to many members of this forum in the past, perhaps you just had a bad day! Helpful or not, no need to be rude when all I was doing was trying to be helpful (Thats what forums are for). By "they" I am referring to Toyota. Not had a bad day at all been enjoying the sun :). To be honest this is going a little off topic so I'll stop here.

    Introducing My Auris!

Thanks very much for your informative reply. After consideration I have remembered a friend nearly crashed because his full beams didn't light up properly when they were cold, so I think I am going to go on your advice and just get the low beams done. Just a few more questions, if I may. - What filament/H number e.g H7, H11 should I use? I phoned Steven Eagell Toyota in Radlett, St Albans and they didn't have a clue! HA HA! Someone on here said the low beams and fogs were H11's but I just wanted to be certain before I spend the money. - I'm now considering SMD bulbs in white for the sidelights just to give me that little bit of extra brightness and for the cool look. Do you think that is a good idea? - Also I'm struggling to find bulbs like the ones you showed me for the reverse light on ebay, is there a specific website you can recommend? because I also want to make sure they fit my car. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it!

After looking at your pictures on the first post in this topic I decided to go ahead and get a de-badge. I also got both the front and rear toyota logo badges sprayed black (Black car). I would just like to say thank you for posting those pictures and inspiring me to do it because my car looks completely different. Its amazing how it changed the look! It now has a more cleaner, crisper, sporty look. Well chuffed! I'm now enquiring about HID conversion kits. I'm getting dipped beam first, then full beam and then considering getting fogs done. What is your opinion on getting all three? I was also wondering how you go about making the reverse light brighter? Cheers dude! Chris.

Hate to be the bearer of worry but cars on a whole shouldn't drop coolant. There has been a massive issue with the head gaskets going on the auris 2007 models. Mine started loosing coolant and over-heating. Took it into a garage for an inspection which included a block test and they concluded the head gasket had gone. Fortunately they have some sort of warranty that they aren't too keen on publishing because there was a build issue with their engines they will do a 3 1/4 engine re-build under this warranty (about £6,000 worth of work!!!). I would advise taking it into your dealer and having the engine inspection done. it cost me £59 and saved me £0000's in repair bills.
  15. Hi guys. I am looking at possibly converting my car to run HID bulbs, however, I am confused. I understand the difference between all the kelvin temperatures (the higher the 'k' the brighter the light) and I have decided I want to go in the middle at 8K. When looking on the internet, though, I can't understand the difference between all the 'H' codes. One kit I looked at is 'Xenon ""H7"" HID conversion kit', the other is, 'Xenon ""H11"" HID conversion kit'. What is the difference between H7 and H11? Basically I just want to have my normal headlights and my full beam HID at the moment. I heard you can convert fogs too but I want to look into that at a later date. Also, on a less serious note, I would like to know peoples opinion on HID's on the Auris. Would also like to know if anyone who has them installed has had the car fail an M.O.T or had any trouble with police etc. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Chris :)
