  1. When I was buing my Rav4 2008 (77 k done) I have heard some kind of whining from transmision (i think its transmission not diff) during the test drive. Obviously I said to salesman about it and he said that its NOTHING and don't worry obout it. It was main dealer, they gave me 2 years warranty. Nonetheless I bought the car. I did 700 miles since and everything is fine apart from this whining. I can hear it at about exactly at 25 mph and it disappears at 30 mph. The faster I drive the whining disappears because of higher RPM - I can hear it at 40 mph as well but sound is very quiet. Should I wo
  2. An old post but I don't want to start another one. Obviously I said to salesman about it and he said that its NOTHING and don't worry obout it. It was main dealer, they gave me 2 years warranty. Nonetheless I bought the car. Should I worry because of that? In addition the transmi
  3. After cut the bumper, install DRL's and be happy how beautiful it looks do we need to inform our insurance company regards modifications? I mean only in the situatiuon when the bumper is cut.
  4. Thanks to making me aware of this Kevin. I didn't know about new law regulations. I have read tha Daytime Running Lights should be marked ECE R87 (road legal) and all new cars are fitted with DRL's. DRLs are connected so that they come on with a ignition and switch off when the vehicle’s lighting is switched on. OK then :) I'll try to find, buy and install some road legal DRL's :)
  5. Hi guys. Did anyone try to fit LED lights stripes in place of parking lights? Our Rav's have factory LED light fitted on the back so imho they should fit LED stripes in the front headlights. Obviously parking lights bulbs could stay on its place and LEDs could be switched on/off by individual switch if needed. What do you think?
  6. Hi Mac. I had exactly same problem :) Driving mainly in London Rav4 2008-2010 T180 or XT5 or Avensis 2009-2011 T4 or Spirit 1. Family car (SUV or estate) - not small, large boot 2. Versatile 3. Good in town but good motorway cruiser as well 4. Automatic transmition I searched for a car since February. Budget £11k Drove Captiva, X-trail, CRV, Grand Vitara, Mazda 6 Estate, Rav4, Avensis Estate, Qashqai, Kuga (to expensive), Murano (excellent driving), Mazda CX-7 Chose RAV4. Why? Good price from main dealer, 2 years warranty, PERFECT inside for me: 1. I like gadgets (leather, satnav, bluetooth, s
  7. You need to check what kind of connection you already have installed. Must remove back door trim and find S7 connector... here link to tutorial LINK T180 and XT5 are already prepared to install rev camera. I have installed rev camera to my XT5 last week. Pretty easy job but I did serious mistake with connection and fried camera. Luckily I had 2 same cameras and second one (after made few connection mods) works briliant. I have heard that some XT4 has all rev camera wiring already installed. Maybe you are lucky? Check it out :)
  8. You can put deflectors and go for a trip through a whole of Europe and.... that's it. It is not possible to pass "Controle Technique" in France or "Tüv" in Germany or even "przeglad techniczny" in Poland. You MUST have LHD headlights. BTW in Poland is not possible to register any UK car.
  9. Problem solved :) Thanks guys for your help. Obviously my connection was wrong hence fried camera. Today I took my time, did few drawings put my thinking cap on and then connected new camera. Voila! Its working! I took plenty of pictures so I will describe it in a new post :) Have good evening, Adam
  10. Not possible. Originaly I come from Germany and in my previous cars structure of whole headlight was different than the UK ones. Depends on type of headlight sometimes you must replace everything, sometimes only part of headlight.
  11. Every forum needs a bit of entertainment - its obvious But I need a simple advice only :) I connected earth from the camera to car body and to S7 power ground and video ground: I have put together both S7 grounds and soldered it to camera ground and carbody ground as picture shows. I didn't use any fuse :(
  12. Aftermarket chinese cameras are 12V so I need 12V to make the camera alive :) Genuine Toyota rev camera is 6V. As I wrote above it works with 6V from S7 but 6V gives not to much power. My the only advice I need is to confirm that my connection is good or I'm going wrong way :) No additional friendly advices needed
  13. Rome was not built in a day but it is a simple question to smarter people than me not to some sarcastic full of complexes guys :)
  14. My car is ready for install rev camera. So, I bought chinese one from ebay. It worked great on my TV at home. I have connected it to my rav4 to S7 socket. It worked but on the screen were srtipes instead of real picture because of to low 6V power. Camera is 12V. "Check surrounding for safety" appeared as well :) Then I have deceided to connect it to real 12V and connected as below picture shows. I have fried the camera :( Any ideas?
  15. Could be :) But, for sure, built quality is far better than "chinese ebay" ones. I saw used Qashqai cameras for ca. £20-100. It does not MUST be Qashqai. Could be X-trail, Murano, Juke... Similar items. 4 connectors: 2 grounds (power + video), video signal and 6V power. Same we have got on our beauties Rav :) But we are not sure it works.
