  1. £100 does supprise me! In 'design' this is very similar to the GM (Vauxhall/Opel/Chevrolet) version of the 1990's yet they only cost approx £20 to £30; although I realise there will be 'differences' in tolerance... ... or would there?

  3. ...hmm, still a new car! I didn't start this topic to discuss whether or not certain cars are old or new. People have different judgements of old-skool. Let them have it. My apologies! I did not wish to cause offense, more a point in making the fact i'm an 'old coger'! I would like to stress that I do infact like every car mentioned here so far! What it is that annoys me is the fact that this is a 'car forum' yet the majority of members seem to run 'modern tin'. To me a 'car site' should be all about 'patching a car up and keeping it running!' - in fact exactly what you are doing sir; to which you have my full compliments!
  4. - Okay I will try to be a little more understanding: Old car I still would like to own: 1937 Austin Seven Ruby 'New' Car I still would like to own: 1969 to 1972 era Ford Cortina 1600E
  5. Getting a bit newer? To me they ARE 'Brand Spanking New!!!!!!!!!' Good Grief! (Infact at the garage I work at I have to keep a Golf Rallye 'patched up' - say's me as I brush the welding sparks of my overalls from patching up his rear section that joins the sills - who says VW's dont' rust/rot !)
  6. Are you some kind of wimp! and millionare? ... most of us HAVE TO RUN AN OLD CAR! ...IT'S ALL WE CAN AFFORD! You want to get your backside over to places like Russia, where they manage to still run a 60'S and 70'S carS as everyday transport. - i.e. Motoring in the REAL WORLD! ;)

  8. Err ... hang on! :o This is 'Credit Crunch Great Britain' - No one can afford a new car (or anything under 10 year old) so ... .. for me I've got my 'Old-skool rides' - but to me they are more a necessity of transport, either them or you walk! At the end of the day 'you run an old car 'cause new cars in Britain are just waaayyyyy to expensive to buy!'. :)
  9. Yes, a Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year! P.S. the very best of luck to all us car 'freaks'; who have to 'battle and struggle' against the British new year weather and our quest to keep our jalopie's rollin'.
  10. Three cheers for 'KPARRIS-JONES' Hip, Hip Hooray, Hip, Hip Hooray, Hip, Hip Hooray This IS someone who knows what running an old car is all about! e.g -motoring in the real world At the end of the day I really hope you 'stick with it and save it. ... ... even if you by a 'cheap run around and keep your 'GTi' as a hobby car - put it this way your so keen and enthusiastic you deserve total credit . It's people like YOU that make this forum interesting! Good luck with your GTi (from a time when Toyota built 'proper cars' and not 'cheap' enviromental 'economy rubbish'!) Happy New Year!
  11. If you want to improve 'gear selection' check to see if a substance is still available called 'Molyslip'. In the late 80's early 90's we used to use this 'stuff' on Ford Gearboxes who were renowned for difficult selection into reverse when hot - inserting some moly slip into the gearbox used to work wonders and reverse would be selected with no 'graunching'! I'm NOT a believer of 'quick fix addatives' but molyslip (if still available) seems to work.
  12. AND! 12/ A SNAP-ON 'Ethos' for code reading/diagnostic requirements 13/ A Manta 'A' Series Body Shell !!! - don't want much do I 14/ Door skin for the MGB GT 15/ Some 'Hella' Lamps (to rival the Cibies!) 16/ A Stainless Exhaust for the Corolla GTi - They now seem to be discontinued - unless you got to powerflow... ... whos quality is as much use as a choclate fireguard!!! :censor: 17/ Some Twin 40 DCOE WEBERS - don't know for which 'Jalopy' of mine but I'll find a use! 18/ Aldon 'Non vacumn' Dizzy for a Ford engine ... 19/ Some '60mm Air Ram pipes' for my Throttle body set up ***Stone me I don't want much do I *** Cars is gonna be the death of me! :D
