  1. I’ve had my 2003 Avensis Estate 1.8VVTi since January 2013 with 72,000 miles on the clock. Shortly after buying it I moved to France, changed the headlights for LHD and got it registered here. It’s been used and abused as a builders van, lugging trailers and tons of material away from our house renovations, along with trips back to UK and cruising around between 60 and 70 mph in a country where everything is that bit further away it seems. With 120,000 miles on it now the engine is beginning to burn a fair amount of oil. I know it was a problem for a few years with the early VVTi’s before they fixed in around 2006. I love this car, it’s smooth and economical, always gives me 42 mpg on these empty roads, clutch and exhaust are original and the rear discs did 115,000 miles before needing replacement....we don’t need to break much or change gear so often in this part of rural France:happy:.  I guess I am using a couple of litres of oil every 1,000 miles. Does that sound like the engine is about to give out? It sounds fine has never failed to start or left me stranded. I want to keep it going for another year or so, any ideas to help that process would be much appreciated.
