  1. Thank you, but unfortunately it's a TNS310 (Traffic) Plus according to the documentation in the glove-box. I was hoping to get A simple Carplay system done for around 300/350 euro. The car was apparently used as a "rep-mobie" in its earlier life and someone seems to have butchered the wiring harness to fit tracker hardware & software as there are intermittant electrical faults. Nothing major - auto-rain sensors work sometimes, rear wiper works but washer doesn't, the radio can be tuned but only sometimes, the binnacle clock is consistently 4 minutes slow and the steering wheel audio controls don't work. Now Bluetooth is so outdated I can't pair either an iPhone nor an Android phone to the car and when I try the iPhone it crashes. The car has passed all government MOT/NCT checks before I got it and since, so no safety worries, just to be able to listen to music or the radio and use the iPhone hands free and use its nav software which isn't too bad at all. Thanks again, mathepac [edit] the in-dash CD-player *does* work and the sound is quite good for a factory-fit system.
  2. The factory-fit Bluetooth audio & sat-nav systems in my Toyota Avensis 2007 T25 H/B (UK T4 spec) is crashing my iPhone on connecting since the last iOS update. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to upgrade the car's system firmware. The sat-nav has never worked during my ownership of the vehicle. Is the Sony XAV-AX1000 (Apple Carplay unit) a DIY fit into my vehicle and do I need any additional parts to mate the wiring systems and to use the steering wheel controls? Is there an app or web function that matches Pioneer's "match my car" functionality available for Sony products? I am trying to avoid fitting a DAB-DAB+ unit as I'll scrap the car before spending that kind of money. 500/600 euro Thanks, mathepac
  3. Will this fit the 2007 Avensis T25 T4 D-4D H/B? UK Reg No RV07 APX, exported to Ireland
  4. I replaced (or asked a tech friend to replace) the H1s & H7s with the Philips +130% and +150% versions. The effect was immediate. On dipped headlamps under street lights, signs reflectors, road markings, his viz jackets on cyclists, etc were crystal clear. On motorways, other main roads and country roads the high-beams are excellent. No complaints from oncoming traffic with beam leveller in the normal position. Well worth the few quid from a safety perspective. Thank you, and :( to
  5. Good advice and could I suggest to be wary of the dilution ratios given on some bottles of winter screen wash. I'd suggest buying concentrate in the current cold-snap and look for the dilution ratio to around -20 or -25. We've already had -13 in some places last night I believe.
  6. Could I respectfully suggest that charging £5 to post stickers priced at £2.49 to Ireland is nothing short of insanity! They'll fit in a regularly sized letter envelope and cost no more than £1 to post. Give us a break lads, we'll be getting divorced soon enough and Teresa may ban ALL outgoing mail crossing the electronic border in the middle of the Irish Sea. Heck, we may even inherit half of the Isle of Man!
  7. I had all 4 discs and pads replaced on my 2007 Avensis as part of the purchase deal (one calliper replaced as well as it was a test failure). The brakes squeal in exactly the same circumstances as you describe. Probably not OEM on my car but would also be interested in a fix. Am I the only person who remembers anti-squeal shims being part of the replacement pads kits in the last millennium?
  8. National Car Test - NCT. The NCT is conducted every 2 years for vehicles younger than 10 years and from their 10th anniversary onwards they must undergo an annual inspection.
  9. The front cigarette lighter didn't work in my car since I bought it a few weeks ago. No biggie, I no longer smoke and a technician told me it was more than likely a blown fuse in the panel behind the glove-box. Sure enough glove box out and a 15A fuse was blown, number 40 in Fig. FNB0031 on page 421 of the Owner's Manual. All I have to hand is a 20A. As this will only ever be used to charge my iPhone 6s+, does it make much difference? BTW there is another fuse-board layout diagram stuck to the back of the glove-box visible when you remove it. They seem consistent.
  10. Strangely I can find IS200/220 half-leather seats more easily than I can Avensis '07 T25 H/B seats and they're also cheaper. Without performing interior surgery on my little car, does anyone know if they'll fit?
  11. 3 weeks with my 2007 T25 T4 Hatch on 215/50/17s and she's a tub alright! Between 1995 and 2008 owned & drove AWD Scoobies, the last being a MY2003 STi Type UK Saloon. I know the value of good tyres and brakes and they're the only things I don't mess with. Where tyres are concerned, I go for A-rated for wet roads and usually B-rated for fuel economy, then I look at price. The Avensis was fitted with 2 x Khumos and 2 non-descript Nankangs when I bought her. I held back 4 16 inch wheels from the sale of the Fabia VRs and I've fitted these with Bridgestone 205/55/16s for winter. All the brake-discs and pads were replaced when I bought the Avensis and 1 brake-caliper was replaced. That lot should see me safely through the winter and my first test on 1/3/2018. A tub for sure but she stops in a straight line and the ABS, new brake and tyre combination make her predictable in the wet - no ice or snow tests yet but I'm looking forward to seeing Mr BMW waggling his fat RWD ***** down the road in the white stuff!
  12. I'll be doing this too. Just sourced powered & heated leather chairs, door-cards, centre console, gear knob for my 2007 T25 T4. Asking price is €150. Wish me luck
  13. Are you sure it's the motor? What are the symptoms? I'm new to Toyotas but with VAG cars where blowers worked only high, the problem was almost inevitably the resistor pack in the blower-speed switch circuit.
  14. Thanks but €53.73 plus delivery (or fuel to drive to nearest outlet)!! I like to shop local but 25% more is nutz.
