    Car Alarm

:thumbsup:the interior sensor used,in the Rav4 is a Hyperfrequency detector, which is basically a microwave detector, this type of detector is usually more stable than ultrasonics, because it reacts to physical movement, rather than air movement as detected by ultrasonics, the only trouble is any metal objects placed in front of its detection range can affect its performance,it will also penetrate glass and can detect movement outside the vehicle. It can also be triggered by mobile phones left by it ,when armed. on the unit fitted to my XT3 There was a small bung on the face of the detector which allowed access to a sensitivity pot.I had to reduce this on mine because if I washed the car with the alarm on ,as I washed the windows ,I triggered it, after adjustment ,it was ok. On some vehicles, a glass breakage detector is also used.
  4. If Any body requires the extended strap for the rear door of any Rav4 From 95 to present, I am taking delivery of a new batch, I can offer them cheaper than Toyota plus I include a fitting Guide. Supply and postage is now £59, which I believe to be £3.50 cheaper than Toyota. If any body wants one email me at sparkydog@fsmail.net
  5. Does any body want an auxillary power socket to fit in their 3dr NRG or similar aged vehicle, I purchased this kit which includes the light grey cover and port for my 04 three door Rav, as you may know these bits are only fitted to the five door models ,as standard. But tucked away behind the blank cover on the left hand rear inner wheelarch cover is a small harness that this kit simply plugs into , so giving you an extra power socket. I purchased it to fit into my Rav ,but upgraded to an XT3 before I fitted it(not compatable with the XT range). I am selling it for £7 inc postage, it cost me over £20 , if you are interested PM me or contact me at sparkydog@fsmail.net Brian
  6. I supplied it to Andy via Ebay, If any body wants one , I only have 1 spare kit left , you can have it for £60.50 inc postage, either leave me a PM or contact me at sparkydog@fsmail.net I fitted one of these to my XT3 and its perfect Brian
  7. I had a similar problem years ago on a two year old Shogun, I had purchased the paint from the dealer ,but when it was sprayed it looked different, I found a local professional vehicle paint supplier, who matched the vehicle paint perfectly , they started with the original paint then "aged " it to match the vehicle. Some places do it by experience, by eye and other places use a scanner to match and age the paint accordingly. Brian
  8. Check if your unit looks like this , if it does it is port "D" on the photo.

  16. Dave ,If it is the XT range of RAV4 ,Remove the two metalic looking side covers by using your finger nails , carefully ,dont use any tools you will mark the facia, store these until you refit the head unit. Next you will have to remove the heater vent facia that surrounds the radio, you will have to remove the two small self tapping screws that secure the facia in place ,once this is done the facia can be pulled off (straight off ) .Once this is done you will see two bolts on each side of the radio head unit, remove these carefully ,don't allow them to drop or you will have a bugger of a job to get them back , Finally the headunit can be pulled out and disconnected .These instructions can also be found on the forum under the very long discussion on fitting the Sat Navigation unit. Brian

    Backlash?

I have noticed over the many years of owning and driving 4x4's ,that due to the nature of 4x4's, High centre of gravity and not very good turning circles, etc, etc, etc, That many 4x4 drivers are far more safety conscious and courteous than other road users
  19. Yes it will , it is actually the unit from a Corolla so the illumination on the switches is green not orange, your vehicle has orange backlights on the switches. Sparkydog
  20. I am sorry ,I don't have any photo's, but Rowena461 has posted a few in the past. Do a search for Navigation ,I think the topic was "has anybody fitted a full screen sat nav unit " or something like that. ← The part number for the rav is RAV 4 Navi P/N: 86120-42100, but double check this, it was supplied by Toyota Europe, you need to check if this comes with the GPS antenna, the European DVD and the instruction manual if not you should get a quote to supply everything, but sit down when you get it .I think its about £2500 + vat, But even at the full price its a remarkable piece of kit, just check previous posts .

  22. There is a company in America that is selling new Toyota Sat Navs for this range at $1500 which is approx £700 they don't appear to be selling "hot Property" but they are a Bugger to deal with .
  23. if you read ealier post on the satnav unit, you can check if you have the nec. sponge bags, if you do ,it is simply plug and play, it takes about 30 minutes to change, the unit from Toyota is approx £3000 but people have picked them up on Ebay for £500 ish brand new . :thumbsup:By the way the dealer told me ,it isn't an option on mine , but its working perfect .
  24. Ohhhhhh Yes , All the leads are tucked away in little sponge bags, hidden inside the dash , My Rav is an 04 XT3 And everything works perfectly well with the new kit fitted
  25. Does any body know how to fit the voice activation mike to the full screen sat nav system , the plug on the kit does not seem compatable with any on the back of the head unit, Am I missing something ? do I have to change the plug ?
