  1. Cycling was a scary experience for me where I am, so many close calls! I do have love and sentiment for it though as I did travel from south of Europe to Finland good 15 years ago :). Someone recently recommended me a brompton saying it would fit in the aygo and in the flat or under the desk at work, bu then... Price = whoa. I'm bidding on a raleigh folding bike that is a 12th of the Brompton's price. Still on the hunt for aygo, with less worries about space since becoming single yesterday. Almost got talked into buying an mx-5, but I have to be rational :).
  2. Ok then. I'll do that. 🙂 Didn't mean to sound ungrateful ;). Will give the owner a ring if still available.
  3. It's 2007, no mileage or SH listed... Naah... Thanks. I'll keep looking.
  4. Seems like my time of owning a spacious, quick car is over. Still looking for an ayg. Hope you are all safe, sane and employed!
  5. I'm in my mid 30s. Driving since 2013. Up until my modded volvo got crashed into by an uninsured driver I paid £650 a year monthly, or approx 570 if paid in one go and had 4 years ncb. Now that I had to claim [ unresolved yet / unpaid ] they quoted me fortune for aygo. I thought if I pay 650 for a group 34 [ before mods ] powerful car, then surely a group 3 supermini would be cheaper, hence the whole idea of getting an aygo as a runaround whilst looking for/working on a main car. I used several comparison sites. Of course I added the accident. Maybe my address also got a different stat now. No idea. Can't imagine what I'd have to pay for a 3.0 charged petrol in this situation. That aygo may be my only car as it turns out. I'm 6ft3, probably 18st and have a field job [ had? ] :D. I'm shocked. I was limiting my budget as it was supposed to be my second car that I would run until it was time to scrap it, but already been thinking of stretching it. Now... Pay 2.5-3k for such a teeeny car, and pay another £1k-£1.5k insurance on it? I may need to go to decathlon, pick a helmet and some lycra...
  6. Thanks agent! I found a really nice 2008 one, from first owner, equipped exactly as I want, low mileage, fsh, silver - £1900... a bit... steep now that I know how much my insurance is going to be #crying Also emailed offer for 2009 black, again, nice equipment, from trader - he countered with £1900... It may be my education, but I would've thought that prices would go down during crisis, so that people get rid of the stock that collects dust, time and rust at the lots... I'm not sure anymore if I want to buy a car for £1000-1500 and pay almost the same [ or more ] for insurance... On the other hand... any other car would have the ins prices go up... I'm struggling to brain today...
  7. Been to see the silver one. Looks ok, ac doesn't work, emergency lights intermittent, some gears quite loud when changing stoppped, tiny bit of rust above top door seal driver side. Engine is clean though... Called my insurer... Only to be shocked. Paid £650 for my quick volvo. They ask £820 for aygo... Went on gocompare, cheapest is £850 pa... Unbelievable. Beacause someone else smashed into my car? Ehh... Seems like aygo may be my only car for a while. In the mean time the black 2006 one got price taken UP ! Called seller, he said expecting more people looking for cars soon, so puts his prices up... google search: commutiong on rollerblades
  8. Gotagetz, good find at £1k! I'll see what I get after looking at a couple more. I started sending out offers.
  9. gotagetz, that one actually looks ok! but 150 miles one way... whew... Auris James - I did look at yaris, but the insurance group spike is kinda significant. Wouldn't worry me if it was to be my only car but it won't be for long. I am set to see the 2007 silver @ £1250 tomorrow. Also got an offer to buy a 2009 with half leathers, alloys, ac, BLACK [ 😄 ] and 89k miles for £1900... Whichever I choose may be a lemon, so wouldn't it be better to pay less? I'm !Removed! lost. Puglet, you are right. I should not look even at a CAT car. I'll report back after looking at some more. Thanks to that at least I know what the engine should sound like. Smooth and quiet :D. Reving when ac on 😄

  11. Thank you guys. I don't know enough about cars to know what a good example would be. There are reeeealy clean ones that people just want to sell a bit too much, and have some dubious details about them. Then there are the ones where you can see the use [ paint not ideal, scuffed interior - seat tear on the outside edge ]. I am sticking with aygo because of the cheap running costs [ bar repair/ maintenance which still would probably be 50% of my volv ], but have no idea how to make sure that the 100k miles is in a better state than the 80k one somebody really tries to push on me and lowers price every day. If you guys are saying that £1500 is a lot for a 100k miles 2006/07 model, maybe I should wait [ until when, 2021? ] or consider a cat N... I could buy a white 2012 cat N with 80k miles for £1700... I just have no idea... Computers are so much simpler... 😕 I know I sound like a challenged one, but... NO CLUE! 😄 All your help is appreciated. Leaning towards £1200, 2007, 70k miles silver aygo with ac, steelies and [ seems ] impeccable body... Will go and see it.
  12. Thanks Puglet, gotagetz. It's a massive dillema for me as this is supposed to be a cheap runaround, before I replace my main car [ and keep the aygo for runs ]. Where I live currently the car would probably get keyed / demirrored soon, so when I think about spending £2k on a so-so , 11-14 year old car... Hard. Saving money is not easy. Right now I have a choice of: - 2010 peug 107, black, ac, alloys etc, nice body, 100k miles = £1500 I don't like the look 😞 - 2006 aygo black, 5d, ac, alloys, 105k miles, nice body - £1500 - 2007, aygo silver, 3d, ac, 70k miles, nice body - £1200 - seen brand new alloys for £300 a set, but... silver aygo 😞 or go up to £2k, where aygos are 2007-2008 and similar mileages, so don't see the point really. As per advice I'm not even paying attention to cat N. Am I pedantic or does uneven fittment of bumpers indicate sketchy history? Seen so many aygos where one side of the bumper fits flush and nice, the other side gap is of various width. Some have gaps under headlights.
  13. Thanks Flash, but that's a bit far and a bit... silver 😉 I like it though. The pricInsert other media e and specs are on point. There's just no way for me to travel THAT far.
  14. Puglet. I have stories of my own. Previously trader took deposit for a civic. Told me engine cracked during MOT a day before pickup. Wouldn't return my money - small claims/ unresolved. Couple of days ago trader tells me to pay deposit before he puts an aygo through a 'fresh MOT'... Nope! Then spotted bumpers not alligning, holes etc... The amount of lying... I understand that people need to make money, but... Wouldn't an honest seller thrive on repeated business? Smaller, but constant margin? Easy to buy a car from a scammer and I am yet to find a honest mechanic around W. Mids. Honestly - hoped that someone on the forum might be selling :D. I started looking at different colours. Also at Peugs and Citrons. What do you think? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202003108237496?make=PEUGEOT&model=107&sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&postcode=cv13ag&price-to=2500&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&radius=40&page=3 or: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202002207549625?make=TOYOTA&model=AYGO&sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&postcode=cv13ag&price-to=2500&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&radius=40&page=4 and https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-06-REG-TOYOTA-AYGO-1-0-VVT-i-AYGO-BLACK-5dr-ONLY-20-PER-YEAR-TAX/143559451408?hash=item216ccf6310:g:hwcAAOSwmAheeMxM
  15. I had no idea about value of Aygos. I could mostly see 2006-2007 models with 90 -110+k miles and usually, pretty banged up at my price limit. I only found out here that it's possible to get a better deal. Weird. My first was a honda civic 2004, bought in 2013 for £600 after a day of looking. Prisitine. Golf was next the same year at £1000 - faultless driving for a year. Volvo was great although a money pit. Now I wake up in 2020 and people ask 2k for 13 year old, beat up mini cars... Bananas.
  16. That 2010 one has [ really?! ] 43k miles. I'm tempted by a 2006 one with 87k miles at £800. Private seller. Close-ish. Black. A/C Body scuffed, tear in the seat and nsh, but for £800... Why don't I have friends that know about cars... 😄
  17. Thanks Agent Orange! I am looking. Wanted to have a look at a couple cat N ones, but friends said to forget about it as there isn't a full documentation of damage. I offered £1700 on ebay for a good nick, black, 3d ayg from 2010 with AC, he gave me a counter of £1900, but you guys are saying that it's a sttep price for this year right? I'd have to travel 4h to see it in Leeds also and if it turns out to be a lemon... 😄 Oh the fun I'm having. Grey hair at 35...
  18. Thanks Flash! No A/C == no go :(. I'm not on facebook... Maybe I should start a profile, but really don't want to. I'll keep looking. Thought I found a great one, 2012 @ 2k but... stolen. Who steals an aygo... I'm changing from a 200bhp volvo to an Aygo. I need to like looking at it 😉 [ already do ], so it's hard to let go of the black. Search goes on. Lockdown makes things harder, otherwise I could get on a train / coach and go pick the car from anywhere.
  19. Billyboy. If there was a 2009, black aygo with AC out there at that price I would be ubering myself to pick it up right now.
  20. I went for a test drive today. Humming from the front. Massive X scratched on the passenger side, plate lights missing, mirror adjustment doesn't work from the inside and finally... No service history. Still I almost bought it, but think I'll wait. I can stretch my budget, but all those small things that the seller calls ' minor ' would add up to be a project. Plus both bumpers didn't sit right... Just a little bit of a larger gap on one side, with visible clips and not getting under headlight. Sketchy to me. Abused.
  21. Thanks Flash. I thought 105k miles for a 2007 model at £1500 isn't that bad...
  22. Ok guys... I will pester you some more... One guy came back to me with a black aygo with AC [ 2007, 90k miles ]. Previously failed MOT due to broken balljoint and engine MIL. He said that he connected a scanner that showed no issues and removed the warning. You think it may be a lemon? This is not a private seller. Alternatively there's one with 105k at £1500 and full mot. Only ever failed mot once for tyres. I know I'm a pain and it's only £1500, but that's a lot of money to me. Thank you once again.
  23. Parcel shelf or right in the panel in the back? I could always buy 2010 door cards I think... Need to go see the car. See if the guy lowers the price because I think £1500 for a base 2007 model with 105k is a bit steep. edit: door card == £30 /£45 per side 😕 will have to look at scrap yards or something... or... break out the epoxy and make room for the speaker...
  24. I did. No cat S. I'd consider N. Finally found one in my town. Black, AC, 105k miles... And only now realised this model [ 2007 ] doesn't have speakers in the doors :D. Anyone installed door speakers in these models? I mimagine the depth of the door is good enough for the magnet to be stuck to metal? 😞 ehhh... this search and research is both an exciting pleasure and a bit of a grit 😄 I think the process will make me very happy with the car once I find one.
