  1. Folks, Its time leave country for the sunshine state. That however leaves me with small problem. I need to sell my Avensis 1.8 VVTi GS (52 plate with 90k miles). Its probably not worth a lot any more....but I am going to try and sell it anyway. 1. Does anyone have tips of dealers that will touch/buy an old Avensis in the Glasgow area? I know I could prob get more from private sale but its easier for me just to sell it to a dealer. I am not trying to flog it here or anything just looking for tips on good Avensis dealers. Cheers
  2. Sorry to hijack this thread, but this problem is exactly what I'm trying to sort out at the moment... My Avensis is year 2000 D4-D five door. Behind the glovebox in ours is exactly what the original poster has in the photo - the foamy thing doesn't appear to be the pollen filter. So I took the driver's footwell carpet/panels apart (like it says in the owner's manual) - no pollen filter (that I can find). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Looked inside the engine bay around the bulkhead but can't see any secret compartments or anything... Thanks in advance Paul. Being a bit sad and replying to my own post, but found where the pollen filter is - under the carpet behind the clutch pedal. Blower fan is storm force now... Paul. Sweet. Can you snap a photo of it and explain if it was difficult to access?
  3. Here it goes. I took her to Mr T for Re-gas AND replacing the pollenfilter. Airflow improved andthe A/C is now cooler. I must have been a combination of things. Thanks for all the hints and the advice.
  4. Hi mate you'll probablly find changing the filter will sort the problem out i had the same thing mine is a T3X the a/c filter was all bunged up with crap to change it you just undo the glove box and slide the filter out they are about 20 quid also if the a/c needs topping up its cheeper to go to quick fit they do it for £45 good luck mate Hi, I will check for the filter first. I am bit concerned if the A/C needs "topping up". I thought it was a sealed system and if it needs topping up its probably leaking? yes? Now I am going to check howto remove the glove box. Cheers its only a couple of screws i have always found it worth while investing in a hayes manual they are easy to follow and can save you loads of dosh alot of jobs on cars can be done by yourself if you have a step by step guide.good luck mate let us know how you get on. First of all thanks to everyone so far! I managed to the get the glove box out. No hassle really but...now where is the pollen filter? and how do I get it out? Please check the attached photo (picture quality is not great...).

  6. Hi, My Avensis 1.8 (vvti) from 2002 is due a service soon. I have been thinking about the aircon and its performance. Even on full blast its not really cold. The chaps at Toyota have offered to do bleed the system/check for leaks and refill it...but surely there must be some kind of spec for how cold the air is supposed to be. Does anyone know how cold the air is supposed to be when the climate control is set to "16c" and fans are full and air is recirculating? I was thinking of using some low-tech (thermometer) to check temp of the air coming through the vents. Toyota must have some kind of spec for this. Cheers
  7. I phoned them and got the got the code (44724676). Not sure if I need to present my membership card when I pick up the car. Sorted now anyway.
  8. Yeah ok, but I still need the code otherwise there will not be any discounts.
  9. My Toyota garage wants around £40 for a head light bulb (incl fitting). I bought the bulb of them for about £3-4 incl VAT (Official Toyota bulb!) , fitted it myself outside < 2 minutes, went in washed my hands handed over the broken bulb. Job done.
  10. Timson: I have still not been able to fix the issue. Do you mean here? Or here? I have tried looking from inside the wheel compartment but can not find the drain. Cheers
  11. Hey folks, I was just going to make a hire car booking on Europcar and realized that via ClubToyota we get a small discount when booking a hire car. However my recent magazine has gone to the recycling plant... Can anyone dig out a magazine and post the discount code here? I think its only a few % but hey...every little helps :) Cheers
  12. Do you get any further warnings as the fuel level get critically low? I have heard someone with an Aygo getting frequent beeping. I am just curious cause I generally fill up quite soon after the light comes on. Cheers
  13. Sorry for the long delay with updates. I had the car checked out...and you were right, a part of the baffle (well something) was loose inside the "last box". So I replaced the "rear exhaust" (quite expensive but the rattling is gone). With regards to the second problem, the belt was fine but the auxiliary belt/tensioner needs replacing.
  14. Any luck? I have the exact same "issue" with my 02 avensis. I will check my drain holes asap.
  15. Small update, I have booked in the car for a free "check" in about 2 weeks time, the service is due at the end of the month. I am still interested in folks ideas about my problems though...dont be shy :)
