  1. Well, there are two global engines for the Hilux. The 2.4 as you suggest and the 2.8 as well. All manufacturer's are hoping to claim a share of the ever increasing lifestyle market in which the larger engines are often desired. Especially when fuel consumption is very similar. I have passed my concerns onto Toyota UK and they are looking at it. I explained that I had owned many Toyotas and had set my heart on the new Hilux with it's new 5 year warranty and increased refinement in the cabin. It also has much increased seat adjustment and rake and reach steering wheel adjustment. I have put my name down for a test drive as soon as demonstrators are available but the limited range of maximum torque for towing is a concern. Hopefully, they say, I'll be convinced after a test drive and comparison to the competition.
  2. Toyota still do not want to release the bigger 2.8l engine for the new Hilux. I cannot see the reasoning behind this unless the UK are just being fobbed off with the smaller engine because nobody else wants it! It's a very bad move by Toyota as the 2017 model VW Amarok going on sale in September this year in the UK and Europe will have the new 3.0l V6 diesel engine with three different states of tune! The old 2.0l Biturbo engine will no longer be sold! Toyota are going to lose out financially if they do not reevaluate their marketing strategy!
  3. Apparently we're only getting the 2.4 litre in the UK either in 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto. Supposedly going on sale in September! The torque figures you've quoted are for the 2.8 litre in manual and automatic respectively. The 2.4l engine coming here is 150hp with 400nm in auto.
  4. So why isn't the 2.8 diesel engine coming to the uk?
  5. Wonder if they'll swap over to the brand new Hilux supposedly coming in September '16?
  6. This new Hilux looks pretty good to me. I'm more than pleased to hear that they've put a reach and rake steering wheel in them with much more adjustment of the seats!
  7. Brilliant thanks for that! Toyota actually refer to it as a " Hi -over Sports bar ". In that case the total height shouldn't be over 1810 mm. That should do me just fine. Thanks for putting up the piccy!
  8. Could anybody tell me how much, in millimetres, the overhead rear sports bar sticks up above the roof of a new Invincible Hilux? I need to know before buying as the vehicle has to be kept in my garage and the total available height through the door is 1865mm. I garage my LC5 but it will only go in when the suspension is lowered. Would really appreciate if anybody could help out as the dealers cannot tell me! :(
  9. Yes, it is. Clean it properly and then make sure you put plenty of wax on it. Preferably two or three coats!. It might be a pain in the a***e but it will protect the paint if you're offroading. Branches and thorny things should slide off with the minimum of damage!! Good luck with your cruiser! Stew.

    Rav 4 Stalling!

Oops, sorry about the above! As I said I took the Rav into the dealer last Wednesday. They kept it til Monday saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it. ( Yes 5 days! ) You can imagine what I thought after driving about a mile away from the dealer and it started stalling! I booked it into another dealer straight away and took it in on Tuesday. Got it back this afternoon after they fitted a new Throttle body and even gave it a valet. The work was done under warranty. The car is now fine and the service was first class! I will be writing a letter of complaint to the first dealer and will never use them again!

  13. Hi all. My wife has a 2 litre petrol auto Rav 4, it is 2 years old. Over the past couple of weeks it has stalled on 5 or 6 occasions while reversing slowly or slowing down for traffic lights. It always restarts immediately. Does anybody have any ideas of what could be wrong? It will be going back to the dealers to hopefully sort out but if I had some knowledge myself I would feel more confident! Reposted from main 4x4 forum. Thanks!
  14. My wife has a 2 year old Rav 4 2 litre petrol auto. Over the past couple of weeks it has stalled on 5 or 6 occassions while reversing slowly or coming to a stop at traffic lights. Do any of you knowledgeable people have any ideas of what could be causing this problem? It will be going back to the dealer to look for the problem but if I could throw a few ideas at them first it may stop them from fobbing me off! Thanks for any ideas offered!
  15. Has anybody heard anything about a completely new 2005 Landcruiser Amazon being produced for the U.K.?
