  1. Hi thanks for the reply, from what I see I believe the corolla has a separate drum brake in the rear wheels for the hand brake, so you mean they might be seized? Thanks again for the reply, will definitely check it out.
  2. hi there, pretty new in this forum. I have a problem: I have been hearing a whistling noise while I am moving very slowly - say less than 20kph. But not sure if it keep going and cant hear it due to the wind/engine noise. the noise sounds like its coming from something going in circles if you know what I mean, probably from one of the wheels. The sounds goes away completely when I am at a halt. At first I thought it might be the brake pads/rotors so I changed all 4 rotors and pads for a branded set (not sure if I am allowed to mention brands here)... But the whistling continues. I noted it does not change if I put the car in neutral or rev the engine. I also did not manage to find any pattern how it comes and goes away but some times it starts off immediately after I set off and sometimes after a while driving. I also noted that sometimes, lightly applying the handbrake while moving makes it go away. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  3. HI ALL! I posted this topic/question in the electrics forum but got no reply there..so I will try my luck here now... My 2002 Corolla was involved in an accident a few months ago and have been repairing it since then. Now it is almost fixed, however as the airbags (the one I have, has only two) came out, my electrician says that in some cars one should replace the ECU and ABS controller or else it might not work or even worse the airbags would come off again! Now I am not really an expert so I ask your advice and what you think. In order to fix my car I bought a half-cut corolla - same year, same engine. the only difference is that mine came with air-con and the half I bought didnt have one. if I had to change the ECU, can I use the one on the half? will this create some sort of problem (maybe because one has aircon and the other doesnt?). Some people tell that it might be enough to reset the car computer..some people tell me that I need to replace every control so I do not really kno what to do :S Hope that someone can help me. In any case thanks very very much. Mark
