  1. cheers mate..and sorry i had a few beers when i wrote that haha! yes its a loud kocking oise ad when u rev it gets faste obv lol! i did change my big end shells doin the usual lube them i oil first and torque the conrod caps up as required but a day later the noise persisted...so i dnt no weather to get it re'coned as im told jap engines dont respond very well to bein tampered with :S any help prices etc would be very much appreciated :)
  2. how u all doin!? ryt my bottom end is away been suggested i fit new lift bolts because seemenly the sound can be the same as a mangled bottom end so firstly is there torque settings for these?? and secondly does any1 on here have a rough price or heard anythin about anyone gettin theres recon'd?? any help wil be much appreciated :) its been off the road for 14 months :( :(
  3. yeah but do u no any rough prices for these?? basic rebuild all the way to a turbo/supercharger conversion :)...a no a guy who just got his type r (bad word on here lol) supercharged with a new full stanless system dyno'd 310 at the wheels!! now thats what i call power :D
  4. hey right my bottom end is away and after a DIY fix with new shells (unsuccessful) it has sat for 7 months..yeah 7 months!!!...so now defo going to have the bottom end reconditioned...any tips average prices tweeks etc?? perfect chance to maybe up the performance?? looked at a reconditioned engine said ''all new parts'' but how do i no tht it isnt just a quick jet was and bobs your uncle haha so would rather have that piece of mind cheers oh and keano keano keano!!! the son has landed :)
  5. yeah mate oiled them up and first start up was fine...sat for a further week til it was ready for mot n tax and knocked on first start up then but also all oil would have drained to the sump after a week so i took no notice of it.....since the clutch is slipping it over revs and thats when i first heard the 'rattle'...gutted!!.. dad has since said maybe the crank shaft needs replacing..the main beairings seem fine since there is oil pressure...so maybe crank shaft?? labour killer though!! cheers
  6. just changed my big end shells no knocking on start up...but when i approach 3000rpm or after u still hear the knocking and the slipping clutch dont help either!!!...is it normal to do this i no u have to run them in only done 60 miles should i be more patient or just face facts its gubbed!!! :( any help please!
  7. exactly the same here mate!! ive had to SORN mine as i need new bottom end shells as lack of oil!! i also checked mine only 3 weeks before but i did drive it quite hard! :( i need a new clutch aswell so i thot i wud put it off the road and do the work my self aswell as extras!!! :D its bad news wen sum1 in 'the trade' kills there car lol av had pelters!!!

  9. well a had the mechanic in work to look at it and he says its the big ends :( so al trust him.....it knocks on start up and when over 2500 rpm...almost like an old 1.3 duratec engine..u no the ones lol....its all my own fault not checkin the oil!!!! i forgot these damn things burn it!!!!!!!!!!i was also thinking of a transplant..any ideas?? how does a mr2 turbo sound..prob couldnt be done tho...priced best engine for 1300quid..not good cos i also need a clutch...can fit everything but not tht.....i sound mad lol ouch sorry to hear that! how long did you leave the oil before last checking if you dont mind me asking ? honestly??? cant remember..im ashamed!!! must have been a few weeks :(

  11. ah well as the topic at the top says the big ends are away and now i need t no weather or not t get it repaired (55000) on the clock..or a second hand engine because also i need a new clutch and maybe that would come with the recon?? anyway al take ur slaggings..ur helpful comments and the ones tellin me i dont deserve a car...im ashamed :(
  12. alryt guys ! need a new clutch do u guys suggest a performance 1? and if so wat price am a lookin at? cheers an lol wen a took it 4 its mot the guy sed 2 me ad neva break it haha!

  14. not much in it m8 untill we hut a slight hill thats wot lets the corolla down still gr8 cars but!
  15. got it fitted just cut hole in my air hose ang screwed air flow meter into it and workd sound. is this correct? is there any chance that not enough air is reaching my engine? i have plugged all multi plugs in and cable tied them up is this ok? thanks for help guys
  16. just got my kit and when i fitted it at first it would start then cut out, then it wouldnt rev past 3000 rpm av tried conecting all the wee hoses and multiplugs but still wont work please help.

  19. hey guys on my own private road today when a past a celica gt four looked quite plain so dont assume it was the 205. on the first stretch he was behind me when we went for it and he slowly crept up on me. but when he was in front bang a just couldnt live with it can only assume it was modded as i wouldnt think the 185 and ma corolla would b 2 diffrent cheers
