  1. Thanks. Will take a look at those.
  2. Hi This might seem a bit of a strange request but I am going away for a weekend and have decided to sleep in the back of my Rav. I have a sofa bed whose mattress fits near perfect. However even thought I have privacy glass in the back of my Rav I want to put some foam or something in the inside of the windows for privacy/keep out light (It will be late June when I go). Has anyone ever done this and got any tips? Thanks Dave
  3. Good point. Mine has Yokohama tyres too.
  4. Hi, I have a 2008 Rav 4 XTR and need to replace the two front tyres. I want good quality ones but are there any tyres that are particularly suitable for this model? Many Thanks David
  5. I've now managed to find some snow socks for my tyre size.
  6. Hi, I've been looking online for snow socks for my Rav 4. The tyre is a 225/65R17. I found one chart for the 'Autosock' but it seemed to list every type size except mine. Does anyone knwo where I can get snow socks for my Rav4? Many Thanks David
  7. Thanks for all your replies. I do think I have adjusted my driving a little to suit the car but I am sure the gearbox has become easier too.

    New Rav4's

In April 2008 I bought my first RAV4. I had wanted one for years and finally decided to take the plunge. It was an 08 model. XT-R 2.0 Petrol. I must admit I was a little disappointed with it in that I seemed to have to rev it quite hard when moving off otherwise it would cut out. Changing gears I would find that it wouldn't be a smooth transition when taking my foot off the clutch. Also when reversing, especially up a slight inclineit would cut out easily. I have thought that this could just be me not having had a Rav4 or even driven and 4x4 before. However over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that when changing gear and moving off from the start, the car seems a lot smoother. Like any other car I have driven. Could this be me just finally getting used to it or do Rav4's take time to bed in? Thanks David
  9. Thanks. Rang my local dealer where I bought it. It's Standard Fit 1. Will give Toyota insurance a call too. Thanks for the advice.
  10. Hi, I have been filling in online insurance quotes for my RAV4 XT-R 2008 edition and one of the questions asked is what type of immobilser it has.e.g. Standard fit1, standard fit 2, thatcham 1, thatcham2 , other etc. I've looked through my Toyota manual and googled it and can only find references to the fact that it has an immobiliser but no mention of the type. Would anyone know what type it is? Whilst on the subject of insuring a Rav4, has anyone got any recommendations of good insurers? Many Thanks Dave
  11. Thanks Hoovie. I should have mentioned that as my Rav is an XT-R I don't have a spare wheel on the back. Thanks for the link. Dave
  12. Thanks for the advice and info guys. I want to be able to transport bicycles but I'm also toying with the idea of getting a rear mounted bike rack instead (not the towbar one). This way I don't have to spend a few hundred quid even before I buy the bike racks. Cheers Dave
  13. Hi, Could someone point me in the right direction as I'm trying to find a rear mounted bike rack for my Rav4? I went onto the Thule site and when I clicked on Toyota for make of car tere was a list of Toyota models and which Thule rear mounted boke racks were suitable. However the Rav4 was not listed. I assumed that this meant none of the rear mounted bike racks were suitable for the Rav4. Does anyone know of any makes that are suitable? Many Thanks Dave
  14. Hi, I am thinking of putting the roof rails on my new Rav4 XT-R. I rang my local garage for a price which they quoted £240. This seems a tad steep so I looked on ebay where I found some on auction from a 2003 model. Now I think these might not fit because I'm sure the Rav4 over the last 5 years has got longer. Has anyone ever fitted old roof rails onto a new model? Thanks Dave
