  1. I had my oil changed to the correct grade after complaining to Toyota and the dealer said they think it is all hype about worse fuel consumption with 5/30W......................wrong!! I have filled up 8 time since and the consumption has improved by 6-10 MPG, so a considerable saving. I appreciate the weather has been warmer, but this is in last 3 weeks, so most of improvement is down to oil. With my mileage, I calculate a saving of about £800 over a year, so have told dealer what I think and will be changing to another for next service!
  2. Too right GC! This is my second Prius and I do about 35000 miles a year, so certainly noticed the drop in MPG, but put it down to cold. Cannot see what cost saving there is to dealer anyway, as they will only invoice cost of oil to customer in any event?! Shame that I am just leaving to drive to Carlisle, so will do about 1000 miles next week and no time to change oil before I go, so will end up costing me extra. Oh well.
  3. Trust me, I will be watching them!! Surprised me about 1L carton of oil as well, as it is still sealed, presume they charged on the invoice though!!
  4. Hi everyone. Had my 30000 service in T Spirit Gen 3 yesterday and on collecting the car they gave me the left over oil which they had used for the oil change..........5w-30w! I queried this and they said it was Toyota recommended for the vehicle. Luckily, having read the posts on here, I did not accept this and after several phone calls to Toyota and Mobil, the dealer finally accepted they were wrong and have agreed to drain and refill with the correct grade! I had the 20000 service carried out there 3 months ago and was wondering why my consumption figures had dropped dramatically, even allowing for colder weather (10mpg at least) As I fill up twice a week, I calculate that the extra cost due to incorrect oil has been at least £240, so I am grateful to all the advice on this forum, as if it had continued that would be a loss of £1000 per year! Puzzled as to why they are arguing, as the cost of the incorrect oil was still £52, so surely the correct stuff cannot be that much more? Thanks again Chris
  5. Could not agree more!! 35000 miles a year on business all over the country and never let me down! What is it people don't like, is it just a question of wanting the utmost newest maps, when they are not really needed if you use common sense?
  6. A very Merry Christmas from me too!
  7. Would love to know this too I took mmy car for its first service and had the reverse beeb changed, as well as the passenger seatbelt beeps, but when they looked at the dashboard rattle I was told it is a 2 day job, with the dashboard coming out and may cause more rattles after they have done that!! Has anyone had this sorted?

  9. AVOID the warranty companies like the plague!! I work in Insurance Claims as a Chartered Loss adjuster and thought the cover I got on my Jeep a few years ago was a bargain Then had a claim and surprise surprise, not covered, even though it clearly was! Car was uneconomic to repair after their "approved repairer" had worked in it and they told me claim had failed after he had removed the engine! Took me 2 years through the Financial Ombudsman to get paid for a legitimate claim, and I am supposed to be an expert! Not worth the saving in premium and I would always now stick with Manufacturers Cover.
  10. Just had a call from my dealer to say Toyota are extending the warranty on the main battery to 100,000 on all new Prius. I have to pay £195 to upgrade my Warranty! How does that work then, my car is 2.5 months old and presumably has the same battery as the new cars, so why do I have to pay when Toyota are obviously confident the battery is good for 100,000 miles? Seems a bit harsh!!
  11. Thanks for letting me know that, will be really useful Why would anyone default to the 4 Digit search on the main screen???!!! Dealer didn't know about it either!
  12. No, unfortunately only 4 digit, but I drive 35000 miles a year all ovr th UK and it only lets me down very rarely! T Spirit gets my vote for the SatNav and the reversing camera
  13. Best I have had on Fuelly is 62.5mpg over 491 miles Worst so far has been on holiday trip to Scotland and back, fully laden with 4 Adults and luggage at 56mpg Still a great improvement on my Gen 2 and that was good enough!
  14. Ah so it is not just me then! Got the same dash rattle and have a piece of card between the top of dash and instrument panel, not an ideal solution, but will last until service when hopefully dealer can sort it out!
