  1. Thanks for your reply about the Yaris Hybrid starting without pressing the brake. Irrespective of the manual do you know if its ok for Yaris Hybrid to start without the brake pressed. I dont know any other Yaris Hybrid owners otherwise would have checked myself. Thanks

      Yes.

      The following is an extract from the owner's manual:

      When starting the vehicle Always keep your foot on the brake pedal while stopped with the “READY” indicator is illuminated. This prevents the vehicle from creeping.

      Which is partly what I surmised when checking the owner's manual.

      On their non-hybrids with manual transmissions, Toyota have a switch operated by the clutch pedal which, unless the clutch is fully depressed and the switch operated, the vehicle won't start.

      If Toyota had intended that the hybrid couldn't be started without operating the brake pedal, they would have installed a similar device to prevent the hybrid being started unless the brake pedal was fully depressed.

      For your own peace of mind, by all means check with your dealer - probably the service department would be best for this rather than sales.
