As I said in the title , the reg is J***WTF . The car is a black G limited import . We bought it a few years ago in Scotland , and from the history the car was also in London before this . It was once a well loved car , had Bilsitens , OZ wheels , lowering kit and it has been coated with Waxol behind all the panels

Its will be the same with the cable driven speedo clocks . The only thing I had to change was the 2 plastic cards with the warning lights on

Sure no prob 1 jack the car and remove the drivers rear wheel 2The alt. is located at the back of the engine , look for the mounding bolt and loosen it ( its a 12mm ) 3 Remove the clamp bolt for the tensioner ( 13mm ) 4 Unplug the 3 pin plug and unbolt the main power feed ot the back of the alt. ( make sure the battery is disconnected frist ) 5 Tilt the alt towards the engine and remove the belt . 6 Now remove the mounting bolt and slide the alt off from the mounting bracket ( it will be tight and have to be rocket foward and back to free it ) 7 Lift the alt up the back of the engine bay and out of the car , there is very little space here but it will come out . 8 To refit just reverse the procedure .

It sounds like it could be the shells are gone , if this is the case and the crank was still good the it would be a case of changing the shells , but there could still be damage else where in the engine , did the car stop on you , how did you come to realise that there was a problem with your car . The best solution could be to change the engine . Are you in Ireland ? if so contact this man , Gary 0860893227 , he is in county Meath and has several mr2s parted out .

Thanks for the info , the current sterio is connected with an iso plug that has been joined on to the orignal loom . In the n/s 1/4 the plug that should feed from the amp to the speakers has had the wires disconected ( at the bullet type pligs ) and then new wires have been ran up the car to the head unit . I will have to pull out the head unit and check wat messing has been done there . The site two's r us is a great site i nhave look at it before , im considering buying the poly bushing kit for the suspension that they sell , it seems like good value

I was working on my wifes car to day fitting speakers in the front doors . When i connected them they did n work , so i had a look at the amp ( behind the n/s quarter pannel cover and it is not there . It appears that some one has removed it and ran new wires from the head unit back and connected into the speaker lines wnere they shold cennect to the amp . Can any body give me some info about the sound system in these cars , its a 91 rev 1 3sge import with the premiun sound system . As the car sits now it only has 2 speakers working in the 1/4 pannels and the sub behind the n/s seat . The 2 door speakers and the 2 tweeters dont work . The car is using a minestery of sounds head unit

It sounds like the contacts in the door lock could be corroded that coud explane why it only works sometimes . The problem with the lock button could be due to a bad connection . The easyest fix could be to change the lock with a second hand one . I might be able to find one for as i have a friend with a crashed corrolla g6 ya but i find that if the passenger door doesnt unlock when i unlock the driver door, the unlock button doesnt work then. the unlock button works when the passenger door unlocks when the driver door unlocks, if you catch my drift??? . completely defeats the purpose like :D Then the problem could be with the control relay , check if this is clicking when the central locking is activated , if it is working then all that is left is the lock or wireing . I fixed a slimar problem with a 91 corolla a few years back , it was caused by broken wires in the o/s door .

Im having a similar problem my central locking button locks both doors but when pressed to unlock it only unlocks the drivers and not the passengers? also when they key is turn in the lock only the drivers door opens and same as you visa versa. unfortuantly the key fob i think need recoding also very wierd????? any help My wifes has the same problem , i reckon its the locks , im an auto spark so when i get a chance to sort hers out i let yous know I fixed the locking on my wifes car yesterday , on her car the button on the o/s door would only lock the o/s door , when the key was turned on either door only that door would lock , unlock . I changed the latch on the n/s door and that sorted that side with the button and key , but the o/s key would still only work that door . I then removed the activation switch off the latch stripped it and cleaned the contacts and that fixed the problem of the o/s key only working that side .
