  1. I think I'll go and ask the wife to try - she's got smaller hands and the strength of Mighty Mouse... Maybe I loosened them up already ;) LOL
  2. frostyballs - yup I know all that and the issue is the bulb just won't twist enough to get them out! Any tips or tricks to get them out?

Well of the planned headlight bulb upgrade the following has been done: 1) Installed LED sidelights 2) Installed H11 bulbs - for some reason the loom plugs aren't 100% direct fitment as per my older HID kits so I've had to use the 2nd pair of wires on the bulb which works fine - might be a case of dremel the H11 bulb/HID ballast connector a little shorter to the pins make contact. 3) HB3 Bulbs - how the hell do you get them out! I can't shift them at all! Tested the kit and I can do a straight connection off the loom to the ballast so 2 less wires to tuck away when I fit them! Help!
  4. excellent - thanks for the 2nd confirmation. Will probably make the order once my tax disc rebate comes in. Already bought some bits to fit when I collect it (K&N panel filter, fitted boot liner - got kids pram and muddy boots to add in)
  5. A quick question if I may - is your HID kit a CAN-BUS type or just the standard set?
  6. Cheers Simon - will speak with HIDS-Direct who I've had all my kits from previously and get a price on some bulbs to re-use these ballasts and another set for the other lights.
  7. Just about to take up ownership of an '08 Auris SR to add to our Toyota collection - also got a '76 RA28 Celica and a '99 Celica ST202. I know there are differing opinions on HID kits but I've got them on the current family wagon (CRV) and my ST202 and have no issues with them come MOT or with local constabulary (and I do a hell of a lot of business miles so see most of the UK!). It's been discussed at length here and on other forums and my MOT chap is happy pass them as long as they comply with the regs he has been told to work to. I was going to re-use the current slim ballasts on the CRV in the new Auris, but read that it might be CAN-BUS so might mean I need to buy new CAN-BUS ballasts as well as new bulbs - can anyone confirm if an '08 Auris SR has CAN-BUS or not? Thanks!

  9. do a google search on Bigg Red brakes - they refurb calipers and do diffferent finishes such as gold or silver electroplating.

  11. will reply to your pm Rob. Bad news is the one I was hoping to get a shufty/test drive of was at Arnold clark - and sadly its gone. It looked mint and even the missus said she half expected to come home from walking the nipper to find it parked in the drive(and more importantly wouldn't have been upset in the lsightest about it) - shame she didn't tell me that earlier in the week and I probably would have made a purchase ! Still I'll just have to think to myself that it was a 'shed' so I feel better and continue the search for an ideally silver XTR. There's a few on autotrader and in the Toyota dealerships but it's a case of getting out to see them.

Saw yours Mr Shuttleworth and whilst I don't doubt it's a finely looked after motor (though given West Ridings reputation has had a little battering of late).I t's a) the wrong colour (you know my preference is silver) and B) she who must be obeyed (and the little one babbling at me as well) silver, blue or black are the preferred options ! Good to see you still have a thing for Toyota's though Rob !
  13. Aye - I'm a lot more familiar with the Celica range as I'm one of the Admin on Celica-Club (Hence I know Uncle (Bob) King well on there). I know Toyota engines are pretty buletproof (well unless you count the oil starvation/oval piston issues on the Gen 7). Just hope it's a nice drive and I can get a good price for my car or for cash. Does the XT-R have heated front seats as standard ?

  15. Hi, Hope people will be able to offer some advice on what to look for when looking at Rav4's. I'm currently using an IS200 as my daly driver, but the missus has said we really need to look at something more practical as our little one (7 months old) is getting a bit big to be heaved in and out of the back of the missus's KA in the near future. I'm a big Toyota fan and am pushing her that if we change the family car then I'd like a Rav4 for the odd time I get to drive it - we'll probably trade both our cars in against it (or I'll just cash buy it if it make more financial sense). I'll still have my Celica for my fun and the drivng I need to do as my work mileage is easing off these days as I try to get the train instead. I've found what looks like a good rev 4.2 XT-R 5dr and am hoping to go and give it the once over at some point this week - if it's a decent example, then I'll go and see it again with the missus at the weekend.
  16. hmm found another thread on here - seems the chirping (which it still does intermitently and then sounds the alarm) could be the siren backup battery is dead/dying.. looks like some more cash for Mr.T.
  17. Apologies for digging up such an old thread - but this is exactly what mine is doing on my '99 Gt. I thought it was down to my battery finally giving up the ghost and randomly tripping the alarm - or that one of my sensors (door, bonnet, boot) was iffy. Even last week, when i parked up, used the fob to lock the car withon 2 seconds the alarm was sounding ? How easy is this to replace - at the moment, I just disconnect my negative lead from the battery when I leave it.
  18. Gen 7 seats will fit in to the Gen 6 with some modifications. Gen 7 rear uprights just bold onto the hinges, the lower bench section will leave about a 1" gap at the edges. You then need to cut off the Gen 6 mounting brackets off the runners and weld them onto the Gen 7 seat runners. I did a write-up of how to do this on www.celica-club.co.uk.
  19. Aren't you up for some light hearted banter then? TOC! is the friendliest Club on the Net! Sorry, didn't mean to offend! The only bit I really read was a slanging match between a mod and a member, the sort of thing that you would normally expect to be a pm. At the end of the day, we should all see eye to eye, being Toyota nutters! yes there are some slanging matches.... most comms of this sort is done in private but in some cases it needs to be done in public (especially when the member makes it public)
  20. yep they;ll fit fine - they have the same offset and fitment. be wary though as they corrode very quickly - unless you're getting a re-furbed set.
  21. hi - I've been in your situation. Couple of things to try which are cheap. 1. check the exhaust system from the cat back for any holes - they let air into the exhaust gases and really %$( up readings. For example, check my post on TOC! about my 'swiss cheese' Blitz exhaust. 2. Get hold of some Forte injection cleaner - I've used this in a few cars which have failed the emissions tests and it's cured the problem. Failing that you then look at changing the O2(or Lambda) sensor - these can be had for about £50 for a pattern part or £130 ish for a genuine toyota one. the pattern part needs you to alter the wiring.
  22. you don't say if you're a pre or post facelift. They're known as TRD or SS3 type splitters. Either way you'll struggle to get any real toyota parts in the UK - they weren't available at port of entry (ie the UK). Best bet is to email Chris Chen in Hong Kong who does copy parts - sales@hediko.com. Tell him you got recommended by Ben Mellor from Celica Club.
  23. the rear backs fit fine, the base will leave about a 1" gap either side - but it's not that noticeable. The fronts can be fitted, but you need to cut the base brackets of your gen 6 seats and after cutting off the Gen 7 seat brackets, weld your Gen 6 brackets onto the Gen 7 runners.   24. the 140 engine can be supercharged or turbocharged with very good results. Both types of power upgrade have been done by a few people on Celica-Club.
