  1. Hi, I have a pair of Atera Signo roof bars for an '04 - '09 Verso bought from roofbox.co.uk that I'm looking to sell, these are them: http://bit.ly/1ar9P0i They have been used twice - once for a two week holiday in mid France and once for a camping trip an hour from my house. They have only had a smallish roofbox on them. I think I can get them delivered anywhere in the UK for £14. I live in Llanharan and work in Cardiff so they could be collected from either location or I could deliver them locally. Attached image is of my bars. Please get in touch if you are interested and we can work out a price..
  2. Changing to Toyota oil didn't help sadly. I guess the garage was right about the original oil being OK - and they still didn't charge for the 2nd oil change. As I was worried about spiraling costs, inconvenient trips to the garage and breaking down I've sold the car rather than go further with this issue. Bye bye Verso - you've been a great car.
  3. Local dealership happy to supply oil by the litre, though they had to order it in.
  4. They just called back - I missed the call but they left a message saying again that it was the correct oil but suggesting I get oil from Toyota and they will fit it free of charge. I'm wondering if they now think they got it wrong but aren't admitting to it...? I guess the challenge now is going to be getting 2.3L of oil from Toyota. The garage previously told me they didn't use Toyota oil as it was sold in 10 gallon barrels.
  5. Thanks. I've called the garage and they have said that they used "75 90 semi synthetic". I said I'd been told that it should be "75W mono" and they said that it was the same thing. Are they right?
  6. Hi all, Had my SR for just over 4 years and been pretty happy with it - mpg not great, egr valve sooting up too often, but still the most solid car I've ever owned. Was just looking at changing it when it went in for it's 50K service. This wasn't at a Toyota dealer/specialist but they have a pretty good reputation. The engineer pointed out that, with the clutch fully depressed, there was a very slight "rrrrrrr" noise while a gear was engaged. He said it sounded like there might be a problem with the gearbox and suggested I consider changing the gearbox oil as precautionary measure. He did say that there was a fair chance it would never develop into a serious problem but I thought I'd do the right thing and had them change the oil. There is now no longer any noise (that I can tell), but there is an intermittent problem engaging 1st & 2nd gears. It can take a lot of force to get it into gear (or won't go in at all with the amount of force I'm willing to try), it can be a bit"clunky" or, occasionally, it can make crunching or grinding noises. It's at its worst when the car has been left for a while, especially overnight (when it's been around 0 degrees). Most of the time, especially after 30mins or so driving, it's much better - possibly as smooth as it's ever been. The garage had another look at it today and said that the problem was due to the oil being too thick. They rechecked with Toyota, who confirmed it was the correct oil, but thought that Toyota's recommendation was actually too thick for our climate. They were confident that thinner oil would solve the problems, and be safe, but wouldn't supply and fit oil that didn't meet the manufacturer's recommendations as it would make them liable for any problems that then occurred. Their suggestion was that I either wait 5000 miles or so for the oil to thin or supply thinner oil for them to use. So, I'm not actually sure how much of what the garage have said that I should believe. Even if everything they said is correct, I'm not sure if I should clock up 5K or put thinner oil in it. I'd probably wait, but I'd like to sell the car and doubt anyone would buy it as is. Can anyone give any advice on this? Recommendations for an oil better than Toyota's standard would be really helpful if I go down that route. Thanks, J
  7. If anyone else needs them, I can vouch for the quality of these mats: http://www.autostyle.co.uk/ I use them for every vehicle I have. They didn't do verso ones, but have a good relationship with dealers for most brands and were able to get hold of a pattern and make them up. They have them on the website now, but ignore the picture, they are a perfect fit, with the middle & rear mats being one piece. They are £67 inc P&P, but I was happy with them when they used to cost over £110 as they last forever.

I thought it automatically reset after a fill up?
  9. That would be fraud but, as it's warranty direct, please do this. It will make up for all the legitimate problems I had that they weaseled their way out of paying.

Just done 312 miles on a full tank which has just taken 39.54 litres to refill. That gives me an mpg of about 36, but the display on the dash thought it was 46. Are they normally that inaccurate? Not too impressed with the 36mpg. I've been pretty light with the right foot and at least half of it was on the motorway. Is that likely to improve? It's only done about 1000 miles so far.
  11. Thanks. I'm surprised how big you can go! I presume that's without rolling the arches or anything? Do you still get full travel on the suspension with all those sizes?
  12. Now that looks good. I thought 18s would look too big but they seem about perfect. What size wheels did you have on there previously? Is the ride very much harder?
  13. I have a Verso SR D-4D, similar age and mileage. It made horrible skreeching noise when coming to a stop for the first week but has been silent since.
  14. Nice. What did you use for the virtual fitting?
  15. Thinking of changing my wheels, anyone know what fitments are suitable? Would be great if you could post any photos you have of non standard wheels on a verso. Not sure what style to go for and not been able to find any pics anywhere. Thanks.
  16. Dunno if it's different if you change the bulbs but I once got fined for having my front fog lights on when it wasn't foggy.
  17. How much was it for the Toyota one?

    About To Buy

Not been able to find another anywhere. Also it seems that the new version will be a couple of grand more with fewer "extras". Going for it - hopefully picking it up next week. :) Did try to push the price down but didn't get anywhere. The dealer claimed that they were selling it at cost purely to meet a target and get their bonus. From what I heard from other sources I think this might well be true. Seems only brokers/fleet can sell them cheaper and they have not been able to get any for a while. Could have saved £800 a month or two ago. Ah well...

    About To Buy

Thanks guys. Not sure about waiting until April. I've spoken to six dealers who have all said they can't get any more from Toyota and only two of them still had any in stock. Will call round a few more and try the car brokers though. B)

It certainly does, thanks. Have done some reading on Supaguard (more results when you spell it right ;) ) and certainly won't be going for that. Decided against the gap insurance. Found I can get it for under £130. Just trying to work out if £16K is a good price now...

    About To Buy

Hi! I'm about to get myself a Verso SR D-4D but am unsure on a couple of things that I'm hoping your experiences can help with... I'm getting a new one for £15,995. This seems like a good price and, for what I'd save, it doesn't seem like an ex-demo is worth it. Following bad experiences with my last two vehicles I'm not keen on 2nd hand. Does £15,995 seem like a good price? Should I look again at ex-demo - perhaps the ones I saw were not good deals. The dealer is trying to sell me Superguard. Seems it's some coating for the paintwork and interior allong with 3 years insurance for £295. Do these cars need any extra protection? Does the superguard provide this? Is the insurance worth having anyway? Lastly, the dealer is also trying to sell me gap insurance - again for £295. If the car is written off/stolen in the first 3 years they will pay me the difference between my car insurance pay out and £15,995. Is this worth having? I'm naturally averse to buying extras from dealers but am wondering if I'm being a bit hasty in assuming these are rip offs. Thanks, J
