  1. Regarding the smell - mine comes and goes but it’s only when I have the heat on and have the air come from outside ie not recirculating the air in the cabin - it’s proper fume type smell can’t be mistaken for anything outside
  2. Mmmm I thought it’d be the same - I’m planning on pulling the injector out quick clean and just replacing the seals hopefully that’ll be the end of it- you can see on my video blatantly which one it is.
  3. Out also have deisel / exhaust type smell coming in from the air vents 🥴 - that’s another symptom
  4. Ha ha! Don’t get too happy, the engine cover muffles a lot of the noise so yours is prob just as bad! Lol Me thinks it’s the injector seals! If you take your cover off, you should see diesel splattered around one of them and that’s your problem one! Apparently there is a copper seal that fails 😩 Good thing this engine is used in various other models as well as the Lexus! Loadsa people write up about it!
  5. Oh man mines literally just started making the same noise - vid here under the engine cover (if it loads correctly?) Anyone have an idea what it is? Mine is a 57reg t180 with 122 on the clock F76F887D-6B69-4A6F-A1EC-A976FCBFBB65.MOV
  6. Good spot! There were 2 pin type springs on either pad that I removed in the hope that would magically release the pins lol needless to say that didn't work!
  7. Thanks for the comments, splitting the caliper is a no no! There is a bolt that appears to be seized.. I never thought about knocking the pins out.. I gave them a quick tug with some pliers but that wasn't working. Will give it another try. The car car is a 03 corolla verso, I had a 03 corolla before this and the brakes were so much easier to change 😳
  8. I agree with that bit, but how do I get them off?
  9. It's like the carrier and calliper are one piece
  10. Hi all im just changing rear brake pads - i had a quick look to see its the same as a normal corolla, but the verso seems to have 2 pins that hold the pads to the carrier... Ive not seen this before normally its 2 bolts for the carrier and you can move it away from the disk?! Wish i had taken a picture of it now.... Any suggestions? Im unsure how to take the pads off. t hanks in advance.
  11. Lol NA by "T" i mean the VVTLI T SPORT model the rev range is different on them... youve got a 1.6 t3, your good to put any 1.4/1.6 clocks.. is corolla a face lift one??? what year is it?
  12. 2 things... the t sport clocks are different to the 1.4/1.6, so bear that in mind when buying... and the only other issue is you will have is changing the mileage as this is stored on the clocks.
  13. Sorry for the late reply, its a petrol 1.6 If they dont have egr valves hows it throwning up that fault?!?? :S
  14. Hi guys, ive got a 03reg 1.6 corolla and im getting the engine light come on now and then... its only showing p0402 as the error, something to do with the egr?? Not sure what that is or where its located if anyone can help?!!?!... Engine light only comes on when im doing long journeys at steady 60/70 speed :-S
  15. Ive had dealings with foreign car spares before, nothing wrong with them.... But i haven't seen a full car in their parkfield road site. Picture shown might be "for illustration purposes" i.e took photos then dismantled the car... i bought a full front end for a celica from them last year all panels had storage marks and needed prep work before painting (which i knew about prior to buying)
  16. From my experience scrap yards have scratches on almost all body parts via storage and/or removal of parts!! how deep are the scratches on your friends car??
  17. LOL Interesting day to say the least.... planning on seeing 3 avensis's today... asked for v5 reference number so i could check previous mot's etc!!!>>>>... All 3 cars, different dealers different mot stations etc had issues with excessive brake wear and rear brake line corrosion?! at one point or another mot was refused on all 3 lol then found a 2.0 vvti t spirit, had 39k but had engine light on and the hand brake was non existent!! pulled it up FULLY and the car still rolled... Is this brake line thing a common fault????
  18. Thanks for the reply... the knock happens as im braking coming to a stop.. cant feel it in the pedal or anything.. Im glad the disc is supposed to be loose when the caliper and wheel is of i thought id missed something.. everything else is pretty much fine, ive copper greased what needed to be greased etc.. used mintex pads and discs as ive never had issues with this in any of my previous cars :-S
  19. I think the only difference in the sr is body styling and alloys... Should be the same service parts for the t spirit and t3 1.6 vvti's.
  20. Ive replaced discs all round on my corolla a while ago... since then when i brake to come to a stop i notice what i can only describe as a kind of knock from each wheel. Ive had time over the weekend to look at it, maybe something ive done wrong... when i turn the hub it turns about a mm or 2 before the spoke touches the disc, and then the disc rotates, then i hear that knock sound im referring to... is that normal or should the disc turn with the hub straight away??

  22. Hi all, i currently have a 03 corolla 1.6 and am looking at getting a 04 reg avensis 1.8 as well...have a few questions for you guys... Does it have a timing chain or belt? and when does this need to be changed? Does this model have any issues with drinking oil?? im looking at getting a t3-x is there any major differences between that and the t spirit?? and is anything i should be looking for when viewing cars?? Thanks for your help in advance! Taf
