  4. I mentioned this in the other thread: I had the same problem with a Sony headunit, the solution is to connect the negatives of all the speaker outs to the headunits ground, works fine for me.

  6. Its the charcoal canister, dont worry about it. The other noise that you might hear is bubbling water flowing back to the resevoir after a hard run, thats normal too.

Thanks for the replies dudes :group-cuddles: Yeah the SAFC2 lets you adjust the fuel-air ratio at whatever rpm you want... need to get it set up at an RR session though really (which I havn't done yet ). I'm waiting to get an A-pillar guage so I can mount the boost guage properly, it's been sitting there for months now and the bracket has scratched the dash so i need to repsray that aswell.
  11. As Bibbs said best way to eliminate all the problems at once is to use a new loom straight from the battery. I had the same problem with the headunit turning off randomly until I found out I hadn't connected both power lines to the unit (red + yellow) so that whenever the stock ariel popped up it switched off. The buzzing is an earth problem that I had too, try connecting all the speaker -ve's from the ps2 to ground. That worked for my headunit!
  12. Thanks for the comments guys, the thing mounted in the roof is a SAFC-2 and the dials are from http://speedhut.com. They're very popular among mr2 folk, you can get a set for about £70+ I think but make sure you get the right set of dials!

  14. To be safe, I'd create a seperate fused power and ground lead for the TV unit if I were you. The speaker wires of course can be shared without any problems.

    agreed, the NS-2's are quite good! They came with my alloys (245/215). In the dry they have excellent grip, though in the wet theyre not quite as good. Lasts forever too

  17. Tiscali £24.99 unlimited. Their service has been REALLY pants sometimes but at the moment its working fine. Gonna switch to freeuk soon anyway who have an 8Mb line for £19.99 unlimited :D btw tiscali monitor download usage too, you can even check the exact number of bytes you've downloaded in a session in their members area.

  19. I think it depends on whether you wanna spend your money on performance or looks (or a mix of both). I think there was a poll a while ago in the Generals section. Anyway it just comes down to taste. Some people don't really care about tuning the car they just want it to look good according to their individual taste. Others, myself included, would like to get inside the car and tune it from the engine bay outwards. The MR2 is unique in that it has an exotic look to it AND has performance aswell. Whereas most other cars are at the extremes (performance car that looks like a family saloon or a sleek coupe that performs like a penguin) I'm sure you can think of many examples... I think its because of this duality that we have a variety of tastes depending on how we view our MR2s
  20. you sure its not in msconfig? the new messenger is called msnmsgr.exe. The old one that comes with windows is msmgs.exe.
  21. too much oil in the engine can possibly cause problems. check that the oil isnt "bubbly" on the dipstick, if it is then the oils been frothing around the crankshaft = not good!

    well my tubbies running at 1bar at full boost at the moment, since the ECU does not map this far it runs the fuel mixture pig rich to protect the engine. Unfortunatley more fuel = lower combustion temperatures = lower power so what I've done is to progressivly lower the air intake reading to a maximum of -7% at about 4000rpm(i think) on the SAFC2. This makes the ECU think that theres only about 93% of the air thats actually coming in and therefore it lowers the amount of fuel delivered to the cylinders - therefore a leaner air-fuel mixture (hotter) and hence more power! Of course as mentioned above this effect is somewhat countered by automatic ignition timing control etc etc. To really get the best out of the SAFC2 you need to set it up on a dyno where the air-fuel ratio can be monitored constantly. The more you air you "take out", the less fuel is delivered and the more power you gain, up to a limit. If combustion temperatures get too high, detonation will result leading to blown pistons and lots of £££ I think I saw one map off soemone on IMOC where the maximum % was 15%, but theres no way Id go that far without setting it up properly. A max of 7-8% is safe in my opinion for a combination of better fuel economy and power. hope that helps.

    ive got one on mine but it hasnt been set up properly (need to go on a rolling road to do that). I've just set it to get leaner progressivly to 7%, definatley not the most optimum set up but its better than running pig rich at 1bar

    Rattly Noise

    that kidna noise is usually the heatshield, no sure where it is on the NA but i get it on mine when the engine has become overheated (sat in traffic etc.)

As part of the negotiations the New Labour Government has conceded that some English spelling has room for improvement and they have accepted a 5 year plan to phase in the new ''Euro-English'' as it will be known. In year 1 ''S'' will replace the soft ''C''. Sertainly, this will make the Sivil Sevants jump for joy. The hard ''C'' will also be dropped in favour of the ''K''. This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome''PH'' will be replaced with the ''F''. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter. In the 3rd year publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Government will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always been a deterent to akurate speling. Also al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent ''E'' in the language is disgraseful, and they should go away. By the 4th year peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing ''TH'' with ''Z'' and ''W'' with ''V'' Durind the fifz yar, ze unesesary''O'' kan be dropd from vords kontaining ''OU'' and similar changs vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters. After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech ozer. Ze drem vil finali kum tru!!!
