  1. I'm not sure why listening to the radio for a short while very infrequently counts as user error, and it certainly shouldn't damage the battery
  2. Okay - update. I was sat listening to the radio after a 40 minute drive. Normally the car displays a message saying it is turning the radio off to conserve the 12v battery. Instead it went dead, the screen started flashing on and off and the triangular yellow warning exclamation flashed. Pressing the start button did nothing. There was barely enough juice to lock the central locking. I came back after a few hours and it had recovered and started up. Took it to the dealers who diagnosed a failed 12v battery which is apparently so rare the replacement had to come from Japan. All fixed and everything is back to normal. Thanks all, especially those who suggested it was the battery. Cheers
  3. I guess I mean as far as I can push it! I haven't left anything on but I do leave the car for 4 or 5 days at a time but as I say it is intermittent. Will get the dealer to check
  4. Hi - my car is a September 2009 with only around 22,000 miles on it. I've definitely got my foot on the brake all the way down so maybe I'll ask at the dealers next time to check the switch
  5. Is it a symptom of a low battery?
  6. Has anyone else had the following issue. Every so often when I press the start button everything lights up except the Ready light. I then have to switch off and start again, and it usually comes on the second time but very, very occasionally the third or fourth.
  7. I know it's not what you asked but I can get my bike in the back quite easily with the seats down. Be interested to see what racks there are though

I'm afraid you pays your money and takes your choice. I got my Prius last September so have missed out on the warranty extension, but I bought the car at the time with full knowledge of warranty terms and feature set. Warranty is just a feature the same as everything else on the car. Car feature sets are updated quite a few times during a vehicles lifetime. If there hadn't been the bad publicity I doubt they'd have done it. But they had to respond somehow. It would be nice if this wasn't the case but unfortunately it is.
  9. Interestingly, BBC Click has just mentioned that Toyota in Japan are introducing a "speaker" option that makes a "car-like" noise!!! Must be some other people who had the same issue in Japan then
  10. Wow, those are surprising numbers. I've driven all but the is200 in St Ives and the Prius feels the most difficult. Clearly it's my subjective view then and maybe it's down to overall dimensions and position of the driving seat in relation to the wheels. Or maybe I'm just odd!
  11. The steering lock is far worse than the Golf, A4 and IS200
  12. Although I've had my Prius for 11 months now I'd only done 5000 miles so when we went on holiday to St Ives I thought I'd note the good and bad points Good The Prius eats up miles in a really relaxed manner. The most comfortable long (360 miles) drive I've had for a very long time. Easily better than my previous Golf and A4, and on a par with the IS200 I used to have The passengers reliably inform me that it was equally as comfortable for them. Contrast that with my children feeling sick in the back of the Golf because of the ride. Plenty of room for them to sprawl too Surprisingly lots of room for luggage. Miles more than the Golf and IS200 and equal to the A4 which had a boot that seemed miles bigger than the Prius - yet we got as much in with room to spare due to its versatility Bad Turning circle. Those who have been to St Ives will know it is a town of tiny narrow streets and alleys. The Prius turns like a small bus - it's really hard work in a place like this. Tight yet simple corners are a challenge in perfect lines, and parking in the narrow bay we had at the cottage was an art-form - 10-point turns!!! Silent mode is TOO silent! An ability to force the engine on would have been good. Again, those that know St Ives will know that parts of it are only accessible via the harbour and the crowds there just didn't hear me. Very unnerving to drive through. And a bit scary when people just step out with no concept you are there! A pretty poor bad list I know and the second is not really relevant for 99% of driving. Overall I'm very, very pleased with the way the car copes with long distances - another reason to recommend it to people I think
  13. Yes I have http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102463 It's very good quality
  14. On my gen3 the light starts flashing when the trip computer says 20 miles to go. However, I've run the trip down to 0 miles and then filled up and still had a gallon in the tank - so I would suggest you have between 50 and 80 miles left if you really want to push it
  15. Did you go to the Toyota website and enter your details? I'd heard nothing and then I put my details into the main Toyota recall site and within a couple of days got a phone call
  16. Had mine done today - they picked it up and dropped it off. And I got the annoying reverse beeping done at the same time. Yay. B)
  17. I don't have a TomTom but I do have a GPS camera detector. It's mounted slightly off-centre on the top of the dash with the cable running down and into the cubby. You can only see maybe 6 to 8 inches of the cable so not too bad. The other socket is in the armrest so is ideal for charging a phone with it in the tray that comes with the armrest
  18. What a crock. I can't get my Prius to launch forward if I put it in PWR mode and floor the accelerator. Guess I must be pressing the wrong pedal :P
  19. Rather than waste the money on IPA, I wish Toyota had made it an option and spent the money differently. Things I'd rather have than IPA, in no particular order auto headlights auto dimming mirror better plastic on the dash proper ipod adaptor folding mirrors parking sensors What do you think?
  20. I've not really had any of those (the issues, I obviously have the crap plastic on the dash - which I mentioned in my feedback form) - although I have noticed a few scratches on the paintwork recently. I've been reasonably happy with the fabrics and not had any rattles to speak of - I did have a Golf Gti previously which had such hard suspension that everything rattled when you went over a chewing gum wrapper. My main gripe was the iPod adaptor which is beyond a joke.
  21. I haven't experienced this either. Or at least I don't think I have. I just hope the change doesn't bugger something else up...
  22. The BBC website is now reporting the brake issues mentioned on other forums in the US and Japan. I wonder if we'll see a recall here for this? Link Here
  23. Sat in the car for 1.5 hours approx with the radio on and my iPhone charging. Car was in aux i.e. Power pressed without the pedal depressed. Suddenly it switched off with a display message of auto power down to conserve battery power. Anyone knew it did this? I hope it starts when I go back to it later!
