    2009 Hilux Invincible
  1. I've got a 3.0 D4D Double Cab pick-up 2009 and want to add wheel arch extensions, wheel spacers and bigger wheels, sort of ala the Hilux that was used on Top Gear for their North Pole challenge. Where's the best place to look to get hold of these bits and pieces to fit to the truck?

    Hi Lux

I bought the 3.0 Invincible d/cab last year after having owned a L200 Mitsi. The Hilux is the real deal compared to the L200 in that it's actually built for the job. This week it's towed an Audi A6 Avant and a LR Discovery 3 out of the mud and didn't slip one bit. The only thing I would say is the engine feels very restricted, maybe because it's only got low mileage on it (approx 2800 mls) and may loosen up but I've bought an engine chip kit for it but haven't had time to fit it as yet. Overall though, very pleased. In the snow I felt like I was driving to the North Pole ala Clarkson & May! :P
  3. Ok chaps - I've found the grommett to route the wires through. Next question - how do I find the reversing wire? I'm useless at car electrics but I have got a meter. I'm assuming I need to unwrap the sleeve that encases the wires as they run under the trim by the offside passenger door and then find which wire is the reversing one. I assume I put the gear in reverse with ignition on and then find the wire that gives a reading in reverse and no reading when not in reverse? Help? Is anyone there? Am I looking in the right place (RHD)? Can someone pls tell me how to id the reversing wire (I know the obvious is to id the reversing bulb and follow wires back but can I get to them in the rear cab?
  4. I looked everywhere for one for my Hilux Invincible 09 plate but in the end got one off ebay; not a perfect fit but good enough.

  6. Can anyone tell me where to find the entry/exit point of the wiring into the cab for the reversing lights as I'm assuming I need to route my sensor leads through this same point? Thanks
  7. Paul, Can you tell me where in the vehicle you chose to position the CPU and the speaker? How easy was it to route the wiring?
  8. No worries Paul; the kit I've bought is intended for pick-up's with metal rear bumpersn so, for now, my parade remains un-rained on!
  9. I have just ordered a set of reversing sensors for my Hilux d/cab. I am wondering if anyone else has fitted these to their vehicles and if they did, where did you position the CPU and the speaker? Also, are there any helpful tips? Thanks.
  10. Can anyone suggest the best place to find a rubber liner mat for the rear bedliner, just to stop things sliding about? I've looked on ebay and I've seen one for £60 + £7.50 p&p which I thought was a bit steep as it's an aftermarket job.
  11. New to Toyota ownership, will be collecting a 2009 3.0 D double cab Hilux Invincible next week. Is there a power upgrade for this truck and if so, what's the approx cost?
