  1. Hi rogsmith. The 215/70 R16 is the "standard" size on the 4.2 rav. The sport edition has an alternative tyre size as standard( 235/60 R16 ), this size is slightly smaller in diameter than 215/70R16. So if you want to find a alternative tyre size you can use a tyre size calculator. If you do this, then you need to use the 215/70R16 size as standard ( because of the +- 5% size change thats legale by law ) You can use both sizes with no problem, the 215/70R16 wil give you a slightly lower fuel consumtion and lower revs then the 235/60R16, but the 235 wil give you a more " sporty look " I use 215/70R16 on my winter set and 235/60R16 (soon 255/65R16) on my summer set.
  2. Hi! I had the same problem, I bought a connect2 adapter for my Ipod, after a while the volume faded away as you described. The problem is in your inetrface box ( connec2 ) I tried to explain this problem to the supportsenter that sold me the adapter...but they told me the problem had to be an other place like the headunit, real bad service..... But when I disconect the interfacebox the sound comes back.. So I ended up with at Scion headunit ( pioneer T1809, this is allready Ipod compatible and gives you a much better sound, but you oose the trip and outside temp tho.... ) You could also ty an other type of interface adapter, but I know I wil never bye anything that says " connect2 " on it again!
  3. Hello! I have a 2002 Petrol ( 2litre ) with headligth washer system. But this has never worked as long as I have owned the car. The switch inside ther car has no power to it, I have checked the fuses, can only find one fuse ( 30 amp fuse in fusebox under hood ), I can see by the wiering diagrams that it have a :headlight washer control relay, but I don`t seem to find this on the car!? So my question is to all of you Toyota Gurus: Does anyone know where this relay is located? and are there any " normal " faults on this system? Best regards from Norway! :)
  4. This weekend I was on a long trip with my 2002 Rav4, its a 2 litre Vvti gazoline engine, about 180000 km. I was driving in a long "tunnel" about 11 km long ( yes we do have loooonge tunnels here in Norway :) ), then my enginelight ( MIL ) light up, the engine was at normal operating temperature, about 3- 3500 rpm`s and no particulary load on the engine ( flat driving ). I dont notice anything on the preformance on the car so I continue to drive home. Today I read out these toublecods wit a OBD II tester: P0420 Catalyst system eficiency below threshold bank 1 and : P0430 Catalyst system eficiency below threshold bank 2 Can anyone help me figure out what these means? ( I figured that maby the bad air in the tunnel could cause the engine to get to low oxygen intake and therfore maby not good combustion? ) But maby anyone else has had these codes before? I erased the troublecodes today and drove home from work, no MIL light now ( extra info: One of the lamda/ oxygensensors has been replaced fore about two years ago, and I have had a MOT test on the car for about a month ago and the exhaust was clean: CO: 0,02 HC: 16 Lamda: 1.006 Hope anyone can help me? :) ( and sorry for my bad english )

    Engine Noise?

I wil try that. The servicehistory on the car is very good, so all the services has been done. I`m glad to hear its a good engine :) Do you know if the gear oil and the front diff( transfer ) oil is the same on my car? and how often I should change the gear oils? No the gearbox and front diff are combined but the transfer box is seperate. They should be changed at 20k MILES (approx 32k kms). Here is a service sheet. They are useful printed and laminated back to back when doing your maintenance; rav4_gasoline.service_datapdf.pdf Thank you! :) That service sheet was real helpfull

    Engine Noise?

Thank you for fast reply :) I think it sounds a little like bearing knocking from the bottom of the engine, but I`m not familliar with these engines. I work as a mekanic at a skoda dealer, some of the older skoda engines makes the same kind of sound and those sounds is normal on these engines. ( also with chain driven cam ) So I hoped that the toyota engine had the same " normal " sound? Have you heard of any problems wit hthese engines? like defective crank bearings, oil pressure problems etc?

    Engine Noise?

Hello! I`m new to this forum and a first time toyota rav4 owner! :) I`m from Norway and my english is`nt the best I`m afraid...but I wil try my best! I have a 2002 Rav4 2.0 vvti, and the car is greate! But I think the engine makes a little bit to mutch rattling / knocking sound. When its cold, its making a little " knocking sound, this sound I can hear also when I acelerate or " push " the engine in lower rpm`s. 1500 to about 3000rpm (also when its warm) The engine has run about 179000 km and had all the service at the toyota dealer. Is this a normail sound? any major problems with these engines?
