Why No Haynes Manual Covering Avensis T25

I have recently noticed that there are a lot of things that, if there was a Haynes manual for the Mk2 (T25) model, would be covered.

I know there are budgets and time constraints, but it must be frustrating to have to dig around look for how to do this or that.

Yes the forum helps a great deal, but I have used my manual a lot. I know it is not perfect and some subjects are omitted, but I cannot knock it.

i have seen PDF files for the T25 which is of great help.

This is coming from a T22 owner!

Hi mate!

it's funny really because you very very rarely need a Haynes manual for your 1998 T22 Avensis BUT we do need one for the T25 as they are not as reliable .... Haynes could cash in if they put their mind to it ..... they only sold 2 copies of the T22, you have one Konrad and the other is on eBay gathering dust!:yahoo: .

Pete  .

That was a great response Pete. It made me laugh.

I think the model (2003-2008) is too young, the Toyota warranty is too long (5 years), so Haynes probably thinks would not be many people interesting buying book (potentially just those out of warranty). I don.t know am I right but is possible reason.

Hello Japcar,

with due respect to you I think you will find that all Toyota 2003-2008 models only had 3 years warranty and it was around 2010 that Toyota introduced their 5 year warranty inline with their competitors.

It's great that this forum exists to help out where Haynes can't.

Best regards .... Pete.

Yes, you are right for 3 years warranty for that model...apologize.

Still could be found some PDF-s on the Net , but for diesel cars always it's for 1CD engines, nothing for 1AD/2AD...(facelift)

Especially I never found manual or PDF where could be seen exact location of main parts/units in the car, for example ECU, ICU, ABS, Airbag CU, Remote/alarm CU, Aircon CU...I mean all electronic units and actuators.

I bought the Corolla haynes manual ... it covers my engine (1CD-FTV) and you'd be suprised how close it matches in other areas ....

I don't know if it covers your engine, but you should be able to check that on their website...

Also, as others have suggested, the offical guides are available online.... I tend to read the haynes to get a clue about a job, then read the official ones for the detail (torque settings, check for specific differences etc...)

I wrote to Haynes:

1.What is the reason no issue for Toyota Avensis T250, 2003-2008 ? What is the future?
2.Is there manual covering Toyota 1AD-FTV/2AD-FTV diesel engines regardless the car? There are plenty of 1CD-FTV...
Regards

The reply was:

Thank you for your email.

A manual for the Avensis from 2003 onwards is under consideration. Our
current schedule is complete until Summer 2014 when we will review this
model again.

I am sorry we are unable to help in this instance.

Regards.

That means we can't expect manual soon...

Thanks for the info Japcar.

I started the thread because a lot of questions are coming from owners of Mk2 T25 models on this forum. There has been a lot of changes from the previous models (Mk1 T22), and apart from two petrol engines hardly anything was carried over to the Mk2.

For those with diesel models, you would have to get the Corolla or RAV4, but as Japcar says, only for the earlier cam belt diesels.

I notice that the Aygo which is a much later model is covered, but I think it was done with the Peugeot 107/Citroen C1 version (the Peugeot version at least). This the most recent 'Toyota' covered.

At least the forum is here and some of the PDF's are available. For part numbers, I use ToyoDIY.

I have had a Haynes manual for every car I have owned. This may change depending on which car I own in the future.

I agree this is a real shame.. it's not just Toyota books, would you believe I can;t even get one for my wife's ford... when they don't even cover the big sellers... we're stuffed :-( ... it appears they are more interested in non-car books (health, babies etc...) ... perhaps it reflects a change to their market, or perhaps they are now focused on profit and lost sight of their key market strength...

The T25 PDF manuals I have seen have all been copied from the same source. Whoever created this omitted numerous pages and mixed up the order of the rest.

I've downloaded one for free and bought one from eBay, only to find that they are both the same.

Does anyone know of a PDF manual that is complete, in the correct order and at least as good as a Toyota manual or Haynes manual?

you could always pay & download the info from http://www.toyota-tech.eu/default.aspx

I think that the lack of Haynes etc. manuals for modern cars reflects the fact that they are far more computerised etc. & often requiring specialised tools/diagnostics etc.

I might be wrong but I don’t think you can pay and download the manual. It can be sent as a CD-ROM at a cost of €75 or it can be viewed for one hour at a cost €3

If you know of some way to download it for a reasonable price, I would be interested to learn.

Hi Konrad,

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the "thread", interesting comments, not least the reply from Haynes themselves (above) to "Japcar". I think I will take a gamble and buy the workshop manual for the 1998 to 52 reg models, there must be a lot of onfo that will be relevant. Like you I too have had a Haynes Manual for every car I have owned, I still have two left, 1. Volvo 142,144,145 manual for 1966-1973, and also, 2.VW Passat & Santana (Petrol), Sept. 1981 - May 1988, I must get my act into gear and advertise them on eBay or whereever?

John.

Did they do a manual for the Rav4 2.0 vvti?

As that also has the 1AZ-FSE engine I could probably get a fair amount of info from that.
