Toyota Avensis 2001 GS Alarm Problem
Hi all,
Recently bought a 2001 Toyota Avensis and love it....until I broke the only key I have. :(
Long story cut short...spilt tea on key, lock and unlock buttons don't work, alarm won't disable, goes off every time you open the door, angry neighbors, nobody seems to know how you can deactivate it with just the key manually, Toyota want £170 for a new key which I just haven't got as the second.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

The good news is you can unplug the alarm sounder and also there is a Haynes manual which covers your car. The sounder is located in the front bumper close to the windscreen reservoir. Also £170 is cheap in the scheme of things, I have been quoted £1000 when i lost my keys, but luckily got them back!
Yes not everyone has £170 which can be a lot at this time of year and to the cars worth, but at least you have a working key.
