Tyre Pressure Monitoring System - Using Two Sets Of Wheels/tyres

 Share

Information provided by Auris 1.6 vvt-i - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/user/71851-auris-16-vvt-i/

The new Auris (2015) accepts 2 sets of TPMS, so the main set does not get overwritten. It doesn't matter in what order they will be written to the ECU - just need to be written and the car manages them, so no re-learning necessary when rotating tyres. The only thing one needs to do after switching summer and winter sets is to press the TPMS initialization button in the glove box 3 times and that's it!

I have just changed from summer to winter tyres and I did not have to even reset the tpms button on the gloves compartment. I do not know how the tpms has been programmed for the two sets  of tyres by the former owner but it seems to work without my intervention. When I changed to winter tyres I maintained the same left right front back wheel position as marked by the earlier owner so I do not know if the rotation of front back or right left is even possible without tripping the tpms alarm.

Let me just complete the above information after my own experience and communication. After I changed to winter tyre set, I did not reset the tpms and everything seemed to be fine for a few days but later tpms light flashed intermittently. I checked the pressure in all tyres and it was ok. I then reset the tpms as described above by Frostyballs and now no more tpms light. The other thing I found out through a Toyota tech guy (internet) was that if your set of tyres with tpms are programmed then you can rotate the wheels every time when you change from winter to summer and vice versa. So not only does it allow you to keep two set of tyres with programmed tpms but it allows you to rotate the wheels for even wear of the tyres.
