Hi

Have just replaced front discs and pads (not original toyota parts), after the first couple of runs i started to heard a high pitch squeal from front brakes ( seems on one side only but not sure), when i applied a little pressure on brakes noise stopped. so i removed pads and realised i had not put on anti squeal paste on so did this and replace , but now the squeal has come back the same (apply brakes and noise stops).

The only thing i can think its that i did not replace the anti squeal shims they were rusted but put them back on.Do you think this is this is the cause of the squeal if so can i run without the shims in or do i need to replace them.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply will replace

Also another question , a lot of brake dust is being created, alot more then i notice on other cars is this normal or is it because i used non original(cheap pads).

Do different makes of pads cause different amounts of dust.

Have got new shims and have got a set of toyota pads as well. Looking at the instructions leaflet that came with the pads there is two types of disc brakes the one that looks like mine mentions anti squeal springs as well as the shims, i did not notice these when i replaced the discs and pads originally(ie with the cheap Pads), and the haynes manual does not mention them, is it that my model may not have them or should they be there??????

And where abouts do they fit (picture would be good), as i have not taken them off i do not know where they fit

(I Am not getting confused with the support plates they are there top and bottom of caliper bracket)

Very confused
