Toyota statement on Russian local manufacturing and vehicle imports
Like everyone around the world, Toyota is watching the ongoing developments in Ukraine with great concern for the safety of people of Ukraine and hopes for a safe return to peace as soon as possible

As a company with operations in Ukraine and Russia, our priority in dealing with this crisis is to ensure the safety of all our team members, retailer staff, and supply chain partners.

We are also monitoring global developments and will make necessary decisions as required.

The business status of Toyota’s European operations is as follows:

Toyota Ukraine has stopped all activities as of 24 February (Toyota Ukraine = sales and after sales operations; 37 retail locations; distributor owned by Sumitomo Corp.)

Toyota Motor Russia will stop production at its St-Petersburg plant from 4 March and has stopped imports of vehicles, until further notice, due to supply chain disruptions (Toyota Russia = sales and after sales operations; 168 retail locations; and one plant in St Petersburg manufacturing RAV4 and Camry models for the Russian market with exports to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia)

Other manufacturing and sales operations in the rest of Europe are not impacted.

Toyota affiliates in countries bordering Ukraine have already taken concrete actions to support Ukrainian employees and their families, including facilitating the transfer of close family members from Ukraine to other destinations with the provision of accommodation, food, and other support to meet their needs. Further humanitarian support is being planned and will be announced in due course.

Toyota welcomes customers to the Aygo X virtual showroom
Customers keen to find out more about the all-new Toyota Aygo X have the chance to take a close-up look with a visit to a new virtual showroom

The online service provides a sneak preview of the soon-to-be-launched compact crossover with an on-demand live video tour hosted by a product expert who will demonstrate its features and answer questions.

The online experience is designed for customer convenience and personalised for individual customers. Anyone interested in exploring the car further can ask for a test drive to be organised with their preferred Toyota centre.

Access is via a one-click “Virtual Showroom” link on the Aygo X page of the Toyota customer website, www.toyota.co.uk. After providing their details, customers will be connected to an agent who will conduct the tour. If no product expert is available, or if the customer is visiting outside operating hours, an alternative time can be booked. The video feed is one-way, so the agent cannot see the customer, but can hear and respond to questions.

Stuart Sanders, Toyota (GB) Communications and Product Director, said: “The virtual showroom is proving to be a great asset in helping meet the high level of customer interest in Aygo X and it has already produced multiple sales. Customers will of course still be able to view and find out about the car at their local centre, but this new initiative offers them an exclusive first glimpse with expert insights.”

The Aygo X virtual showroom is open six days a week, Monday to Friday from 11:00am to 8:00pm and Saturday 11:00am to 5:00pm, https://www.toyota.co.uk/toyota-aygo-x-virtual-showroom

Online vehicle sales and reservations are open now at https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/aygo-x/

Special servicing and roadside assistance launch offer

Toyota is delivering extra value to new Aygo X customers with an introductory servicing and roadside assistance offer.

This peace-of-mind package represents a saving of more than £250. Full details of the Aygo X ownership package and terms and conditions are available at www.toyota.co.uk.

Toyota Relax warranty programme

All Aygo X models come with up to 10 years’ Toyota Relax warranty cover. After an initial three years/60,000 miles, owners can extend their car’s warranty by a further one year/10,000 miles each time they have their vehicle serviced at an authorised Toyota centre, in line with its service schedule. The warranty is provided at no extra cost, up to a limit of 10 years/100,000 miles. Terms and conditions apply; full details are available at www.toyota.co.uk.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Unveils GR GT3 Concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon
Toyota Gazoo Racing’s commitment to developing attractive, “driver-first” cars for customer motorsport is witnessed in the debut of its new GR GT3 concept today at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon

As was the case with GR Yaris, TGR’s approach is to commercialise motorsports cars, rather than simply adapting production vehicles for competition. Its intention is to apply the technologies and experience gained from taking part in motorsport to develop cars both for GT3 competition and for mass production – in short, making ever-better cars bred from motorsport.

Limited-edition GRMN Yaris, for Japan only

TGR’s development of the GRMN Yaris is faithful to the wish of Toyota President Akio Toyoda (aka racing driver and motorsports fan “Morizo”) to “deliver cars to customers that evolve quickly and can be tailored to individuals, such as in the field of motorsports.”

Only 500 examples of the new GRMN Yaris will be built and these will be available exclusively in Japan. The car’s weight has been reduced by around 20kg; its width has been increased by 10mm to improve aerodynamic performance; and its height has been reduced by 10mm to lower the centre of gravity. The cars will only be available via a reservation lottery for Japanese customers.

bZ4X GR Sport Concept

The bZ4X GR Sport Concept is based on the soon-to-be-launched bZ4X, Toyota’s new purpose-designed Battery electric SUV, and is designed to offer a higher level of both environmental performance and driving pleasure. Features include large-diameter tyres, sports seats and matt black exterior body panels.

World Premiere of new Toyota Gazoo Racing GR GT3 Concept and Tuned GR Yaris at the Tokyo Auto Salon
Toyota Gazoo Racing will present the world premiere of a GR GT3 concept car and a fully tuned version of the GR Yaris at the Tokyo Auto Salon customised car exhibition next week (14-16 January)

They represent TGR’s continuing work to create ever-better cars bred from motorsport, drawing on its participation in top-level international competition, including the FIA World Rally (WRC) and World Endurance (WEC) Championships, and domestic race and rally series worldwide. The technology and know-how gained from these activities is used in the creation of new cars for the road.

The show will also feature the Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010 Hybrid that won all its races in the Hypercar class of the WEC in 2021, together with TGR cars entered in Japan’s leading motorsports competitions. TGR will also showcase some its new heritage parts, being made available for classic Toyota sports cars such as Supra and the AE86 Corolla.

TGR will be hosting a press conference at the Tokyo Auto Salon on 14 January, which can be accessed here
